Hey There Delilah

"Sing along, Rain. You know Dad is going to mess up the lyrics again"

Rain chuckled and started singing.

"Hey there Delilah, what's it like in..umm city, I am a zillion miles.. hehehe" Rain's Mother gives her a little pat on Rain's head.

"You and your Dad, naughty daughter and so the father"

Rain giggles

"Ummm, turn it off, I am trying to sleep, Mo.." Rain opened her eyes and rubbed her eyes again and again.

She slowly dragged herself out of bed.

"Ouch," her legs caught in the blanket making her fall on her legs and bruising it at an instant.

"I will turn it off later" she muttered to herself turning to the kitchen.

Limping on one leg, she made her way to the small kitchen. It was lit by a small overhead light which was not needed in the morning as the glass window would fill the small space with an abundance of light. Also making it much warmer than other rooms.

Rain has packed most of the things in cardboard boxes during the night as if she knew she won't be able to save the place.

Picking up her favorite kitty cup, she washed it and placed it on the stand.

"Hey there Delilah, what's it like in New York City, I am thousands miles away from" she hummed along pouring the contents in the teapot.

Bringing her face near to the pot, she took a deep breath and smiled. It was one of her favorite smells. It did bring back many memories which she just brushed off.

"Mom, please please, I want to ride it, Please Dad, let me..."

The tape was still running in the living room. Last night after getting back from the café, Rain has decided to pack her things up, get prepared for the worst, and put on some of the tapes she found.

It was from a family trip, they took a couple of many before the accident. She hadn't realized when she fell asleep listening to the soothing lullaby her mom was singing while she laid her head on her lap.

"You have to find it" Rain shook her head and rushed to the living room, almost spilling the tea on her way.

"Dad?" She looked around, her eyes finally settling on the screen, playing memory of the merry goes round.

She strode forward and turned it off.

"I should get ready" she muttered to herself again. She hadn't realized she had started talking to herself more and less with others. It's like she was giving herself commands to obey as the day goes.

The street was calm and quiet. Dew settled on the green leaves, making them shine in a beautiful pearly light. The melodious sound of the birds chirping, the first one to fill the quiet street. Followed by the footsteps of the early joggers making their way on the empty path. Footsteps and a muffled sound of the song played in their ears, light breathing, almost inaudible.

Rain covered her head under the hoodie and put on her glasses, stepping on the streets. She wore her usual favorite; Black jeans, a black hoodie, and black shoes; almost invisible to anyone.

The song still in her head as she hums it walking on the street. Pedestrians, too consumed in their own thoughts, oblivious to the melody hummed by her.

"Ouch," She rubs her head hard, which has just hit a glass door.

"How did I?" She looked up realizing that she had walked to the Café, rather than her uni.

She blinked her eyes, trying to remember why she was here and not sitting in her class for her first lecture. It might have not started yet and she would have still been there, trying to avoid the crude comments that would come to her, if she comes in late.

She had also forgotten to do the assignment given by the processor.

*No wonder I don't want to go to class*

She put her hands and formed a little hole on the glass and tried to look in. She just wanted to make sure that not a lot of customers were inside.

She was a different species of an introvert, maybe a new introvert. She has been bubbly and chirpy before, catching the eye of every guy, being surrounded by every girl who wanted to be like her, but all before the accident. Now she was a new introvert.

She didn't want to talk to anyone, and still, she didn't want to be alone. She wanted to be surrounded by people who would either sit silently and do their work or talk a little, obviously not including her in any conversation. But on top of that, she wanted to interact and talk to people who would need her. Which made everything very complicated for her.

"You are here"

"Ouch" Rain hit her head again with the glass hearing those words and jumping up.

"You are not skipping classes, are you?" The pretty young girl smiled and said in a teasing tone while opening the lock on the Café.

Rain just shook her head and walked behind her entering the beautiful Café.

The pretty young girl stretched her arms up and yawned.

"Ummm Sorry, I was up long. Had to get many things done here" She smiled and looked at Rain.

Rain followed her eyes and tried to notice the changes done.

"Here, come come, see this" the pretty young girl raised her hand towards what seemed like a glass door. She giggled seeing the blank look on Rain's face.

It is glass from here, but from inside you can see everyone.

Rain moved a little forward and traced her fingers on a bird box attached to the glass door. It was small and looked like a nest with a brown color and plastic leaves stuck at the edges.

There was a tiny gate on both sides of the box.

"And right here, there is a box, where the girls or boys would put in their questions. They would write the question on a piece of paper and put it through the first gate, and you could open the second one, write your suggestions, and put it back."

The pretty young girl has a wide smile on her face for the whole time. She was a little taller than rain and had puffed up cheeks, which turned to a shade of red as she got happy.

The medium-length black hair was tied behind in a ponytail and would dance as she jumped up and down.

Rain smiled a little looking at the efforts made by the young girl. She didn't know why she was being helped, but she didn't want to ask. She was excited for the first time in three months.

"And they can tip you in the small little birdhouse" she clapped her hands finishing her small introduction.

The Café, seemingly new, was crowded as the sun-kissed the sky goodbye. The purple shaded the blue, and the early stars started to shone.

Rain and the pretty girl were busy setting up the place for the general three kinds of crowds welcomed in the Café. Rain has also set up the section provided to her by the decorations given to her. The section was called "Crystal ball". Rain had liked the name and had gone ahead with the theme. Painting the room in a shade of blue, and putting tiny little black stars on it. She had further hung the lights overhead and gave herself a tiny little home where she would feel comfortable.

It also had a small bed, with fluffy pillows and blankets. The room could be used by Rain or the pretty young girl, in case they needed to take naps or gossip.

A loud cheer made Rain jump on her feet and look outside the door. She was careful not to open it and she didn't need to, she could clearly see from where she stood.

She noticed that it was a crowd she was familiar with, her campus crowd. But if she knew them, they wouldn't just give their valuable time to some random person. The person must be someone special.

As the tune started to play, she stumbled back, almost getting her leg hurt again. The crowd fell silent as the angelic voice filled her the Café.

"Hey there Delilah what's it like in New York City..." She slowly kept her hand over her heart which had begun to flutter violently. And it seemed like it wasn't just her. The girls were all swooning and giggling around the fella who had this captivating voice.

A little chuckle in between the song made her lookup.

It was him

Brown hair, blue eyes.

"Reid"

I slapped her mouth with her hand and shook her head. Her breath almost caught in her throat which released after she realized that no one could hear us.

"Tell us, Reid, who are you bringing to the party tonight?" A girl who has the looks of a model with her long legs and slim waist clung to Reid's arm and asked him.

"Why would he come with anyone, I am hoping he is single" Another one almost threw herself in his lap.

Rain took a deep breath and turned around. She couldn't keep a finger on her sudden change in mood. She was no happier and mostly annoyed.

"We should head to his room first, I want to see him" Xander complained for the hundredth time as Noah pushed the door open, rolling his eyes and ignoring Xander.

"I just want to have a cup of coffee, it was a really long drive" Noah took his seat in the "Sizzling Diaries" section and Xander grabbed the one opposite to him. He crossed his arms and sat down with a pout.

"Ohhhh what you do to me.."

"Would you please be a little quiet, I am trying to avoid an oncoming headache" Xander groaned and leaned back on the chair and looked at the pretty young girl who was humming the song.

She looked straight in his eyes and crossed her arms, which made him sit up and look down. She stomped her foot loudly and went behind her desk.

"Nice, you pissed off a server. Good going, Xander" Noah gave a light pat on Xander's back and stood up, to give his order at the desk.

"Forgive my friend, he is a little cranky. So we need some coffee." Noah smiled and looked at the pretty young girl. Without saying anything, she prepared an order for both of them.

"You can check this out. Someone is having a party today. Hope it lights up his mood" The pretty young girl handed a flyer to Noah.

"I would try to bring someone too, Hopefully, you join us too"
