The Fairy Tales: Part II

"Do you remember...?" Before Demon could continue, Little Devil nodded her head.

"A dress, a pair of glass slippers, Ummm a carriage...a driver, and we'll horses"

"Is that it?"

"Yes, I guess..the wand" Little Devil pointed to the wand, Demon was holding.

As soon as he raised the wand, everything that Little Devil said turned to life.

"What do I do now?" Demon asked looking at the carriage ready for Cinderella.

"I guess, we both have to go together" She pointed out at the extra space and Demon quickly hopped in.

They weren't expecting the Prince's castle to be this quiet. There was no one in sight and it was pretty quiet. Only the sound of crickets was breaking the cutting silence.

"Are we at the right place?" Little Devil asked, descending from the carriage with help of Demon.

"It's a game, it led us to this castle"

"Let's go in, what's the worst that can happen?" Little Devil started moving ahead, Demon looking at each side. Her eyes fell on a statue that looked like it didn't belong there.

"We have to be quick. I feel something is about to happen" Demon held Little Devil's hand and rushed her inside the castle.

The moment they stepped in, the sound of falling rocks made both of them turn back towards the entrance.

"What's happening?" Little Devil asked taking a guard. She tried to yield the sword, but it won't come off.

"There was a mythical creature, standing guard outside... Dragon, with bats wings.."

"I didn't notice.." before Little Devil could say more, a roar shook the castle. It was not just a roar, it was followed by the flame thrown in their direction.

They looked at each other and jumped behind two pillars, separated by little distance.

Both of them panting and looking ahead. It was nothing like they expected. They might have dealt with small creatures, but this was a mythical creature they were dealing with. One of the strongest in the tales.

"Do you believe in Hell and Heaven?" Demon asked chuckling still behind the pillar, his voice barely audible, his eyes looking into Little Devil's.

"I am just thinking if our avatars would go there after we die" Demon laughed and took a peek behind. She didn't have to look around as the Gargoyle had already entered inside.

"My mom once told me..." Little Devil almost jumped hearing another roar, "she said, when we do a good deed, it gets added twice, so people would do it more, and.." Gargoyles steps getting louder as if he was moving near, " and for the bad deeds, only a half is deducted from the count. So the bad guys have time to improve. We get a lot of chances to go to heaven, rather than to hell" She said and looked at Demon, who was patiently looking at her.

"Oh no. I am still going to.." Another roar and both of them looked at each other.

"Shield or sword?" Little Devil said looking at Demon.

"What?"

"Pick, the shield will protect the sword, who will attack the Gargoyle."

"Oh, I am not picking. If one of us would be the shield, it means that they would be sacrificed. Which in the game means, they would have to repeat the level, without the other one. You see fights, fights can always be won, or lost, but a friend, a friend once lost won't come back.

Demon looked at Little Devil and smiled. There was a hint of trust in his eyes.

Trust and loyalty, the strong pillars of any relationship.

"The opposite of fire is water. Let's try that...your wand...use a spell for water" Little Devil's eyes were shining as she said it.

They both nodded and waited for the Gargoyle to cross them. As soon as he stood his right leg between the pillar, Demon raised his wand and a shower of water poured on the creature.

The Gargoyle turned towards them and roared again. This time the flame spit out looked much stronger and longer than before. It looked like the water had increased his strength.

Without wasting any time, Demon and Little Devil rushed to another side of the castle, knowing that they had further angered the creature.

"Okay, so that didn't work..but why?" Demon was tapping his fingers on the pillar now.

Little Devil shrugged her shoulders taking a deep breath when she remembered something.

"There is a saying...you can't know the game until you know the creator. What I mean is.. before thinking about killing it...we should know it" Little Devil was muttering to herself, when it clicked to Demon.

"Uh... did you notice the tail?.it was not of a dragon..but. Bingo..." Demon looked at Little Devil and smiled. "It's a snake..a creature of water...so we need a source of fire"

"I know the source. We need a flame sword" As soon as the words were out of Little Devil's mouth, the sword lit up.

"How do you know?" Demon was impressed.

"You should read books. Quick, we don't have a lot of time." without waiting any further Little Devil handed the sword to Demon.

And knew if someone could kill the Gargoyles, it was Demon.

She trusted Demon. Trusted with her life, at least in the game for now

Demon held the sword in a loose grasp and raised it. He came out of the hiding and started running towards the Gargoyle. A roar shook the castle and the Gargoyle opened its mouth to spit the fire flame. Demon bent down and slid on his knees, reaching to it. He raised his sword, and the tip cut through his belly, killing the creature.

Little Devil came from behind and extended her arm. Demon smiled and quickly took it. His grip strong as he stood up.

"That was fun"

Before they could say anything else, they heard the announcement.

*Level completed successfully. You would be thrown out now*
