Rock Climbing

Rain looked at Reid while they both put on the harness and helmet. Reid was grinning, as usual, looking as excited as ever. He ruffled his hair and walked towards Rain. Before Rain could say something, he bent down on his knees and started tying up the gear on her.

"You don't wanna fall on the first try, Angel"

His knuckles slightly brushed up her ankle. The soft-touch made her almost jump. It was just a slight touch, but imaging his strong hands holding her ankles, the view was very tempting in her mind.

"...okay, Rain?"

"Huh?... yes yes" She couldn't ask him to repeat now, could she. She should be keeping her thoughts clear right now. Falling on her ass, in front of a guy, who was a walking temptation wasn't the thing she wanted to happen.

He chuckled and brushed her hair, "I said, if you fall, try to get up on your own."

"The only way you can get rid of your fears is to deal with them and let it go"

She nodded and was about to walk ahead when she felt a hand on her shoulder, "even them, remember, I will be always by your side"

"You promise?"

"I do" Reid smiled

"What if you break it?" Rain asked with a little bit of hesitation.

"I won't...but just in case..what should I do if I break it?"

Rain's lips formed a pout as she was thinking something.

"Aha..you will give me your soul"

Reid chuckled again, "My soul..okay done"

"Yes..like there are three elements that belong to only you..no other person owns it..your soul, body, and heart. Your heart..um..you can give it to anyone you want..rest other..you can trade"

Reid shook his head smiling at the innocent girl, as they both started walking towards the spot.

Reid and Rain weren't much apart, as they both started climbing it.

"I remember a story my mom told me" Rain put her one leg on one stone and her palm holding the stones above, slowly moving up

"A story about a long battle...battle which took place for days..." Reid was close to her, listening to her every word.

"The army strong and powerful, the first day, they started fighting..slaying whoever was in front of them..not for them..ofc..to protect their families" her feet scratched a little trying to search for the rock to keep it on.

"By the time..the end came near" She took a deep breath finding the rock.

"One army had like 100 left..while the other had double."

"Huh?" "What happened then?"

Reid could have been much higher but he was climbing at the same level as Rain.

"Ummm.." Rain took a deep breath again, feeling the pain in her arms, she breathed out.

"Both sides are too tired... and hurt"

"Ughh" She tried to reach for the stone above her which was a little high.

"The side with 100 members won"

"What? How?" While Reid was still filled with energy, Rain had started to sweat. She was glad about the new clothes, as they could dry off the sweat, without making the dress heavy.

"While they were too tired, hurt, suffering.. but" Reid took another step, and reached the top. Rain was just behind him, as her feet were searching for a stone. One stone while near her would make her lose the handgrip, while the other was a little far.

She could hear the words from below her.

"Man..bad luck..falling from the top"

"Yes, if only she would have taken that path"

"She won't be able to make it"

Rain took another step and started swinging her feet, trying to reach the stone which was far.

*Slipped once*

"Urgh soo"

*Slipped twice*

Her hands getting sweaty from holding the above surface and had started aching now

"It's okay, Rain," Reid said from above

*Slipped thrice*

"The difference you see was, the other side had already given up. They stopped caring. You see, until it's over, you should never give up"

This time her feet landed on the stone and she took another step up. Putting her hands on the top surface and taking the help of her elbows, she pushed herself up. Swinging her one leg up, she rolled over and landed on her back.

She panted laying on the surface as the cheering from below made her smile.

A little sweaty Reid squatted and looked in her eyes, eyes that were starting to shine in the dark.

"Has anyone ever told you, how amazing you are?" He stretched his hand and Rain held it, getting up.

"What?" She asked now peeking down and waving her hand.

"Nothing, Angel" Reid's finger traced her cheeks as he looked at her with affection.

"So do you want to go back?" Rain turned to look at Reid who was grimacing while taking out his phone from his back pocket.

Reid's eyebrows were furrowed as he saw the number on the screen. He groaned and looked up.

"Something wrong?" Rain's voice was no more hesitant as she saw the worry on his face. Her face leaning towards him and her eyes searching for the answers.

"What?"

"Oh nothing, just a friend emergency, you don't mind if I leave right now, right?" Reid looked at Rain and pouted.

There's nothing more dangerous than a boy with charm

*They say you don't know when you start to like a person. It's tough to know the exact moment, which thing, which act, drew us to them. What did they say, which made you have that unsettling feeling inside you?

But for Rain, it was this moment. The cute pout on his face, she wanted to see it every day, more than that, she was now scared of losing it. So maybe it was the fear of the loss, which brings us closer.*

She had thought at the time that she couldn't be horrified anymore, or wounded. she supposed that whatever happens now, it can't hurt her. But, at that moment, those walls had started to fall back, walls which had kept her safe, because someone was tearing them down.
