Race I

"Okay now, look at that" Rain pointed to the messages at Sebastian's screen, "you have only replied to one of the text out of five, she sends"

"Well...first of all, 5 texts in a row are a lot," Sebastian sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Also if I am busy I don't have that much time to answer everything" He shrugged his shoulders while Rain glared at him.

"But you are not busy now, are you"

"I could be"

*Ring Ring*

"See..like my mom would be calling me"

Rain shook her head as Sebastian picked up the call and went back to text Emma.

"Okay being a grown-up is hard" Sebastian started dialing a number while sitting on Rain's bed.

While Sebastian wore a tee-shirt and shorts, Rain was wearing her camisole and boy shorts. It was a day off from school after the sports activities and none of them had anywhere to go.

After Reid had brought back Rain, she hadn't seen him around since then.

"Now, I have to call to get my reports for the blood test. My mom usually does that, but she is pretty mad at me"

Sebastian might have gotten back late again. No wonder his mom was mad at him most of the time.

"Hold on it's ringing" Sebastian raised his hand as Rain was about to interrupt.

"Hello, how may I help you?"

Rain heard the lady speak on the other end of the line, still texting Emma who had some plans for her tonight.

"I want my blood back," Sebastian yelled and then turned to Rain, eyes wide and mouth open.

"Cut the call" Rain whispered but Sebastian threw the phone at her and she quickly disconnected it.

"So I am not trying that again" Sebastian spoke after several seconds.

"You don't have to tell me, I am way worse and it was Reid on the other side"

Before Sebastian could laugh, Rain motioned toward Sebastian's phone which was lying on the bed right now.

"Understandable, still did he say something to you?"

He was now trying to peep in her phone, which was kept upside down.

Rain just shook her head, her gaze downcast.

"Look my ex lives three hours from here, in a jail and she injured her cellmate, 3 guards, got an uber at her knifepoint for 4 hours, all for coming here and wishing me Valentine's day. If they wanna be with you, they make an effort" Sebastian shrugged again, while Rain didn't know what to say.

"Okay weirdo, tell me now, what does Daddy mean?"

Sebastian's head jolted up from his screen and he went red.

"I guess you should ask Reid. I want to stay away from trouble" he deadpanned.

"Fine" Rain laid down on her back frustrated and annoyed with all the questions in her head.

Too many things have happened yesterday and she wanted answers, but Reid wasn't there. She needed the night out with Emma more than she knew.

"Okay see...you said fine. but I could see you are annoyed, is it the same with every girl?" Sebastian laid beside her and pointed out the text.

"In this case, duh"

*I think you are busy, Let's talk later, Goodnight :)*

*Goodnight*

*Fine*

"Well, she wants you to tell her that you are not busy, or if you are telling her what you are doing. She would just think that, you think she is annoying"

Rain sighed, closing her eyes.

*Was every guy like this, totally clueless?*

*Ping*

"Okay, I am going to get dressed, I have to head out" Rain stood up and started looking for her clothes to go out.

"You have nothing other than.."

Rain glared back and Sebastian stopped.

"And no girls on my bed" she raised a finger at Sebastian and he smiled.. which could mean anything.

"Gear Zone"

That's where we were. One of the hottest spots in town. The place doesn't exist on the map at day, but at night it shone and roared as several racing cars would gather around the track.

The parking for the other cars was a little distance away and Rain was glad that she was wearing shoes unlike Emma, who had to be careful in the muddy route.

It was again an entry by Emma, as one of her friends was racing and she had invited Rain to be the part of the best race that was going to happen.

While the Cluster of people was swarming near the tracks as the most popular hyping song pounded in their ears, Emma grabbed Rain's hand and directed her towards the player's arena.

The place where the racers were gathered.

The range of the cars didn't vary much and the reason was that drivers were only allowed to put a limited budget on their car.

Rain's eyes had already started sparkling looking at the Pontiac Trans Ams towards which they were approaching.

"We have a problem" A guy dressed in a leather jacket spoke and turned to the racer who was sitting on a chair, with a fractured hand.

"Oh no," Emma hurried towards the guy while Rain stood at her place, biting her nails.

"If the race gets canceled, people would lose a lot of money" Emma put her hands on her hips and glared at the guy.

"He is injured and that's important right now, not the race.."

"But Emma.." the racer started to say but Emma cut him off

"You have to think of something else..umm like why don't you drive?" Emma raised her eyebrows and looked at the guy standing in front of her, Rain recognized him, he was the same one who had picked her up.

"Since he had another race," the racer said

"And there is no one else?" She looked at both of them hoping for answers.

"Umm. I could drive" Rain whispered and found three sudden gazes on her.

"It's not just driving, it's racing," the racer said, rolling his eyes but the swat at his head by Emma made him shut up.

"Rain..do you understand what you are saying ?"

Emma had seen Rain and she knew that Rain could do anything she wanted. She had seen her being brave several times, even when her plans failed, she never backed out.

"I trust her" Emma started turning towards the guys who looked at each other.

"Hmmm in and out of the car without anyone noticing it," the racer said and the other guy gave his jacket and helmet to Rain.

Man, man, she may not know, but cars, cars she loved.
