The downpour was quite heavy but the woman did not seem to care as she ran with everything in her being from her assailants. Running on the wet sand of the seashore was hard enough, her desperate repeated shout for help could not be heard for there was nobody for miles. She was on her own, her heart nearly giving out for she was exhausted from all the running.
The rain obscured her vision for she did not see the large stone that lay before her, by the time she realized, it was too late for she fell face down into the sand and her assailants were upon her.
Her assailants three in number dragged her kicking and screaming
"Where is the child?!" The tallest of the three barked out at the woman
"Please let me go i do not deserve this!" the woman shouted while crying
The men kept on dragging her until she was in the water
"If you do not tell us where the child is we will kill anyone of importance to you and we will still find the child. So where is the child woman?"
"Dead! He is dead, he came stillborn" the woman answered while crying profusely
"Well then, lucky child that one, his death would have been quite painful, for we would have drowned him as we will drown you now, any last words woman?"
"You cannot kill me you fools! i will only return in another body" said the woman with such conviction even though she was afraid.
The men looked at each other and laughed as if the woman had just made the funniest joke in the world, the woman was confused by their reaction
"No no no, not with dragon's dust you will not"
Her heart stopped, for upon hearing those words she knew she was done for, the inevitability of the situation hit her so hard she gave out a cry and began chanting as they dragged her to the deep end of the water
"domina est!
Speculum smaragdus custodit te vocat!
testis proferet!
ad dolorem!
aliud pati fata!
adducere qui dignus est!
dominae revelare omni tempore!"
With those words she calmed down and said
"Tell them that nothing lasts forever, anything that begins must end"
With these final words they drowned the woman, retrieved the mirror from her coat and left her corpse to the mercy of the sea.
