Why am I even in this situation?
Clare bit her lips annoyed as her nails dug on the hard object on her hands. She had the thought of throwing the object and stepping on it till it was down to ashes but she calmed herself down and dismissed the thought.
'I just need to wait for a few more hours'
Walking down the corridor, Clare felt the absolute worst knowing that she needs to look for that insufferable man again.
It's all that guy's fault! If he wasn't so stupid to have left his wallet then she wouldn't have been in this predicament of looking for him.
'But look on the bright side, Clare! You are alone and have time for yourself right? And, what if that guy already left then that would be a good thing, right?'
Clare chuckled as she felt like the thoughts on her head were some kind of coping mechanism for her.
But deep down she prayed to the gods that he had already left.
She smiled sarcastically when her sight caught a tall figure standing with his hands in his pockets with the same expression on his face that screamed "I hate everyone."
As if he sensed her presence, he cast his gaze towards her directions with an even more fierce look.
Seeing that his face turned even more sour upon seeing him, Clare never felt more uncomfortable and irritated at the same time.
She wanted to throw the expensive wallet she had clutched on her hands to his face with all the strength she got.
The intensity of both their gazes were felt across the hall that if anyone was present they would have felt suffocated.
His cold voice added more fuel to her rage when he spoke.
" You sure don't know when to stop, do you?"
Appalled by his sentence, Clare was not able to reply afterwards.
"Stop being pitiful and go back. I already told you tricks like this don't work on me."
"Girls like you repulse me. Turn back or I'll ruin your life."
Jaxon almost rolled his eyes.
This isn't the first time that girls like her were headstrong in catching his attention which he found bothersome.
He didn't say that as a request but a command. He said it with a strong tone, expecting that the girl would catch on and leave him alone.
He turned around to face the elevator door and rummaged his pockets to look for his damn wallet that he had seemed to have lost along the halls. Jaxon thought of calling Clifford to go get and get his wallet for him but he remembered he did not bring his phone with him.
Suddenly, a sensation coursed through the back of his head reminiscent of the feeling he felt a few days prior relating to the incident with the rally.
This time it was a bit painful and the object seemed to be harder than the rotten egg
from last time.
Oh, this girl was testing his patience to the limit.
Jaxon turned around to look for the source of his annoyance and found the girl with eyes laced with so much anger and her teeth clenched like she was ready to pounce on him and tear him apart.
Resembling a lioness, he felt a bit taunted by the rage displayed on her face. Moreover, a bit of distance from where he stood was the shoe that had a heel length of a pinky on the floor.
A bit of doubt came across his thought wondering if perhaps he had made a mistake in poking her on her sore spot.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
His face was visibly fiercer as his hands brushed his nape rubbing it.
'It must've hurt, huh?'
Not answering him, Clare yanked off the other platform heel that was left on her foot and positioned her arms to aim for his face.
Alarmed, Jaxon had just dodged on time and closed the distance on time. Preventing the heels to strike him on the face.
Catching her off guard with his speed and strength, he locked her hands and pinned her against the wall.
Clare exclaimed with a little pain as she felt the hard wall hit her back. Thankfully he did not slam her too hard and controlled his strength in pinning her down.
'Damn it!'
Irritated, she tried her best to resist by kicking him on his legs but it seemed like his body was formidable like steel as he would not even budge. On her last attempt to have him release her, she tried to reach his groin for a kick but he was too tall and quick that her legs missed.
'Is he daddy-long-legs or something?'
"That's useless."
He towered over her and Clare could not help but look up still with clear resentment written on her face.
"Asshole.''
His grip grew a bit tighter but it was tight enough to not hurt her as that was not his intention from the start. Jaxon just wanted to immobilize the aggressive midget he had locked in his grasp.
"Why did you follow me huh, midget?"
"You are too full of yourself. Who said I was following you?"
"Well, that sign says otherwise."
Oh, great.
Clare followed his gaze through the sign that clearly says "ELEVATOR EXCLUSIVE FOR ONLY LIMITED MEMBERS—swipe card key to access elevator"
Clare rolled her eyes.
'No shit, if you can only access it why won't you just get the hell out here then.'
"Well, it looks like you're lying either since you can't even access that elevator."
"Shut up and stop playing. You have my wallet, don't you?"
She smiled with malice as she raised her brows and pointed her lips down to her cleavage where his wallet was sitting comfortably in between her silky white mounds.
Jaxon immediately looked away as he was caught off guard. He unhanded her and distanced himself.
'He really does hate women, does he?'
Clare was perplexed by the repulsion evidenced by his sudden avoidance. But she smiled once more as she realized that she had just found a weapon to tame this unbearable man.
"If you want your wallet back, take it from me." She said and she pushed the wallet farther down and slowly walked towards him.
His face turned red in embarrassment. There was no way he would do something as ridiculous as what she wanted.
Jaxon gulped down his saliva and wanted the nightmare to end. He would never dare touch something so… so vulgar.
He would never!
