A Villain's Story

He beheaded her and broke out into another derisive laughter. That was just the fifth person he had killed in that street. The other people who saw that something was already ran away. He would say them for later days.

"Splendid, splendid. I could never quit this! He laughed again, utterly mesmerised by the skill with which he had killed his latest victim. She had begged and begged but he had done what he did best. That was what he was good at.

That was what he had been taught to do all his life, and that was what he had been doing ever since he made the capital proud by bringing back the head of a king back from war. His past was quite a sad one because that was not what he bargained for. It was not what he wanted for himself.
