It had been a few weeks since the accident with Scarlett. The fight that most likely had cost her life to just save Jacklyn and Ash from shit. They didn't witness any of it as Scarlett had demanded they to go outside. She knew what was going to happen, She knew she was no match for Heath but still attempted to stand her ground. The day had started the most basic way. Ash up super early, Like usual. At the crack of Dawn. The birds weren't even chirping outside yet, the sky still dark blue just turning light blue. He had done his hair, got changed, put his boots and leather jacket on but didn't bother with makeup. On the other hand, Jacklyn was still in bed. Later on, she had awoken from her slumber. Jacklyn got dressed and did her usual makeup. Threw her boots on and proceeded down the stairs. She had been staying at Ash's and Scarlett's house for ages.
"Hey, How are you today? Sleep well? It's almost four o'clock and you're just awake now. I can't blame you. Honestly, I could barely sleep myself." Ash asked,
Jacklyn nodded and helped herself to some coffee. She threw herself onto a chair at the table.
"Hey, I forgot to ask, Why did you put Scarlett's Katana in a box on that shelf?" Jacklyn questioned
"Scarlett would want me to put it away for now. If she does recover I know its the best thing to do and that's what I've done." Ash said firmly
"What do you mean? Do you mean to keep her away from hunting? You know you won't be able to. This is something she wants to do. You cannot force her out of it Ash." Jacklyn exclaimed.
Ash sighed and nodded.
"Yeah, I know... I mean look at her. It has nearly cost her life many times. I'm not willing to see her put herself through all this hell again for us. She has always put others before herself. I'm not gonna let Scarlett get killed by reckless actions." Ash demanded,
Jacklyn sat there taking in every word Ash had to say but also drinking her hot coffee at the same time. She blew the steam to cool it down and took very little sips of the drink. There was no talking, only the noise of two people drinking hot drinks.
"Jacklyn? Do you think maybe Heath thinks Scarlett is dead so he left ?" Ash asked breaking the silence.
"No, he isn't that stupid. If he had the intention to kill her he would have done it. Right there, in front of us and made us all suffer but he didn't. He is up to something and I dont like that. He probably knows Scarlett isn't dead, that's why we need Scarlett to recover quickly so we can figure out his next move. For all, we know he might be after all three of us next" Jacklyn explained,
Ash and Jacklyn both decided to go visit Scarlett. the emotion in the house was so draining it didnt feel like home to Ash anymore. It was gloomy and depressing. The car ride was almost as bad, luckily the radio managed to distract both from talking to one another. Jacklyn sighed softly as they rolled up to the hospital. The thirty-minute car ride began playing with her mood and pushing her into a state of panic. Jacklyn hopped out of the car and began running as fast as she could to the doors with Ash a few meters behind, his thoughts were dancing around in his head. As they got inside, a woman about in her mid-thirties stood at the reception desk and smiled sweetly at them.
"Hi! How may I help the sweet couple today?" The woman chirped at them.
Jacklyn gagged at the thought, cringing and boosting the tension even more between them two. The woman seemed to notice that she made a mistake and her sweet smile soured slightly.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. How can I help?" She asked again,
"Yeah, I would rather die than date him." Jacklyn said under her breath.
Jacklyn threw a glare at the woman causing her to shuffle the chair back slightly.
"Hey, Jacklyn. Chill." Ash calmed.
Jacklyn rolled her eyes and turn around walking a few feet back stewing in irritation.
"Hi, please ignore her rudeness. Uhh, I'm Ash and this is Jacklyn, we are here to see Scarlett." Ash said politely and smiling his sweetest smile, trying to win back the receptionists smile.
"Oh yeah, I remember you two. You guys visited about three weeks back with a girl with long black hair and piercings? I do remember so. Alright, Scarlett resides in room 101 in the ICU unit. Please keep the noise down when entering. Have a nice day!" The woman said in a happy tone as her fingers tapped along the keys on the keyboard.
"Thank you." Ash waved as he began to walk towards the overly large corridor just behind the receptionist
"Yeah, ta," Jacklyn mumbled, not caring very much for the receptionist as she frowned and shook her head disapprovingly.
Jacklyn and Ash made their way down the hall, up two flights of stairs and down another long hallway and turned right. They followed the corridor all the way down to the end to find a pale blue door with a window beside it. In the door, was a small glass window with crossed metal wire and a sign stating 'Be quiet! Authorized entry only'
"Well, here we are. She still looks pretty beat up." Jacklyn said as she peered in the window beside the door, luckily the blinds were open enough to see her.
Scarlett was still hooked up to the machines surrounding her at both sides. Inside was two wooden chairs in the corner, a small table that over the bed and another table nurses and doctors used to place their needles and other medical equipment if necessary.
"Jacklyn there's no need for that. Let's just go in. Remeber we have be authorized." Ash laughed.
They walked in and placed their stuff on the nearby table and placed the food on one of the chairs. Jacklyn slowly shuffled herself towards Scarlett. Scarlett was covered head to toe in bruises and wounds, Some had been stitched up. Her face was almost unrecognizable with all the cuts and bruises. Her major stomach wound had been stitched up, there was blood on the sheets and dried up blood on her hands. Jacklyn's Anxiety began shifting into overload, worrying if Scarlett would make it out alive or die.
"Look at her. She is torn to pieces." Jacklyn sighed.
Ash nodded but refused to look in the direction of Scarlett so he turned his attention to the food and began unpacking it. Jacklyn turned around and sat down on the floor eating and drinking their food waiting to see if Scarlett would wake up.
"She seems to be recovering fine. " Ash re-insured Jacklyn.
Jacklyn slowly nodded. A few moments passed they had finished up their food and some members of the hospital staff had entered the room to do daily checks on Scarlett.
"Oh hello. You guys must be Jacklyn and Ash yes? I have never seen somebody so beaten up like this before. Those wounds, should have killed her in like thirty minutes. How she is surviving this long I don't know. Has she not woken up yet, She should of by now." One of the nurses spoke.
"Heres a update for you guys. That wound in her stomach is going to take forever to heal. It will leave a nasty and huge scar. She'll have to take it easy. we have kept a good eye on her and she should be okay. We are just here to sort her medication out now, we wont be two seconds. The man said placing a bottle of clear liquid into a bag that had a pipe attached to Scarlett.
Jacklyn and Ash had both risen from the ground. They walked over to Scarlett and stood there. The man was in the other corner writing stuff on a clipboard. A few moments had passed and Jacklyn felt something warm brush past her hand.
"J-J-j-j-j-ack-lyn?" a voice mumbled very slowly and deeply.
"Scarlett?" Jacklyn said turning her attention to Scarlett's bed to find Scarlett slowly moving her hand to grab Jacklyn's.
"Hey. No, Stay still, You'll hurt yourself." Jacklyn said placing Scarlett's hand gently down next to her side.
"We will give you guys some time to talk." The doctors and nurses said leaving the room.
"Wh-her-e am I" Scarlett mumbled.
"Hospital. Heath did this to you, He nearly killed you" Ash said,
"O-o-h, yy-ye-e-ah." Scarlett stuttered.
"Scarlett. Do you remember anything that happened?" Ash asked.
"T-h-i-i-ngs. N-no-ot al-l-l" Scarlett said slowly taking deep breaths in between.
"Scarlett. You are not hunting again. I took your Katana off you. You nearly got killed, You nearly died. I dont want you doing this again. Heath nearly killed you and here you are. All this for what exactly? -" Ash said full of tension before being cut off by Jacklyn.
"Ash. Calm down. She doesn't need this stress " Jacklyn cut off.
Ash took a deep sigh and left the room.
"Y-y-ou-u can-n-nt-t- s-t-op me" Scarlett tried to say,
"I know. I want you to kill Heath. He doesn't deserve to be in our lives. Look what he did to you. As soon as you're better that's him done. We can all come up with a plan to stop him. What did he tell you while in the basement? while I and Ash were outside?" Jacklyn said and asked firmly
