Train Wreck Is Trend

I can't believe it has been almost 6 months and turns out I am actually best friends with Beth and Patsy. After we partied that night we hung out almost every other day, Beth came to pick me up on my interview day saying that 'since it's my first interview in NY, I deserved some special treatment'. Let's just say since then they have never stopped bugging me with silly requests, we hung out and often did everything together. It's been almost six months since I am working with a start-up magazine company, I write a column once a month and rest of the time I edit articles for my colleagues and it went well. It was Friday, I had almost finished my work, as I was through some emails making sure I didn't miss out on anything; I despised working on weekends and I was half way through shutting down my laptop when Beth called up.

Beth: Hey girl what's up?

Me: ugh! just wrapping up. What about you?

Beth: I am just packing my dress and shoes.

I paused and tried to recall if I had any plans with them today but no there were no plan I was aware off when I heard her sigh.

Beth: Patsy didn't fill you in, did she?

Me: No, where are you going?

Beth: not just me, but we all are going out tonight.

Me: and who is suppose to tell me about it?

Beth: I did tell Pat to inform you but I am guessing she forgot.

I sighed

Me: yeah, that's totally possible

Beth: okay, gtg. Patsy is suppose to pick me up and I think she might have forgotten that too. See you in an hour!

Me: alright, see you soon.

I disconnected the call, packed my bag and dragged myself home with a single Ray of hope to get some rest before they arrive. After the torture of a drive home I entered my apartment, after dropping my bag on the couch I walked straight in to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of orange juice. I took a couple of sip before taking off my heels and, let my feet touch the cold floor. I released a breath of relief and looked at the house which is now my home, it is just a 1 bedroom apartment but it felt so cozy. Before I could finish my glass of juice the door bell rang bringing me back to earth, I haven't told Beth or Patsy about my family business and I intend to keep it that way until it is completely necessary to spill the beans. The moment I unlocked the door, they pushed past me and walked straight towards the closet. I rolled my eyes as I shut the door and followed them crossing my arms over my chest. "Hello to you too!" I softly glared as I spoke. As Pat scanned through my closet, Beth walked over to me and hugged me with a shy smile while I asked looking at Pat, "Is she anxious?" She nodded murmuring in my ear, "More than the time she failed her job interview!" We were exchanging giggles while she was rambling incoherently and then something flew past me and landed on the floor. Our giggles died down when we looked at the tissue box she threw and then at her glaring face. I picked up the tissue box and kept it back to its place while asking, "What has gotten you so anxious today?" She dramatically threw her arms in the air and then sat on the edge of the bed flipping her hair back, "Nothing, I am just excited to have a good time today!" I didn't believe that, something was definitely up but I had no strength to argue so I just went in the bathroom and took a long relaxing shower. When I got out of the shower, I found them whispering something to each other and they abruptly stopped and jumped up from the bed. Pat was the first to speak as I eyed them, "Kay hurry up! We can't be late, especially today". I eyed her suspiciously, "Pat, Is there something you would like to tell me? because it's just 7 and no party starts this early!" she practically ran inside the closet and started searching for something "you already know Everything, I am picking out a dress for you so why don't you start doing your make up?" I rolled my eyes and looked at Beth for answers and all I earned was a shrug in return. I picked up my straightener and straightened my hair while Pat came back with a gold sequin dress which was backless and reached till my thighs. I did my make up while Pat and Beth got dressed up within an hour we were all dressed up and ready to leave when I saw Beth chatting with someone on her phone. I walked towards the key holder and grabbed the house keys and stuffed it in my clutch "So who is driving today?" I looked at them for answer but they just looked at me in horror, that is when I heard someone honking outside my house. Beth spoke in mumbles, "We are going out with one of our friends, so none of us is driving today." I looked at her confused, "that's alright, but what's with the dramatic expressions you both were giving me few seconds ago?" Pat ran out of the house and Beth followed her while answering in loud panicked voice, "It's nothing, let's go we are late". After locking the door I walked out in absent mind and, when I looked up and saw the vision in front of my eyes, my world turned upside-down. Behind the wheel sat the most handsome man I have ever seen with piercing blue eyes, charming dimples and straight white teeth. To say, I was gawking would be an understatement of the year! I didn't even realise I was already sitting in the back of the car and then I realised there was one more man sitting on the passenger seat; he was handsome too but I found the blue eyed man was definitely more attractive to me. I pulled out of my thoughts when I heard Beth's voice, "Kay, are you alright?" I answered in stammers, "Yeah, I was just trying to recall if I put off the stove before leaving the house!" Patsy raised her eyebrow while she continued, "you didn't even use the stove so I am sure there's nothing to worry about. Anyway meet Jay, this our friend we had been telling you about from sooo long!" I extended my arm and we shook hands while Pat squealed in excitement, "Isn't he handsome?" I looked at her in amusement while the driver snorted who in return earned a playful smack from Jay. Jay cleared his throat, "Meet my best friend Eddie and Eddie this is Beth, this is Patricia and you know Kayleigh." He said gesturing towards each one of us while Eddie said Hi to us from the rearview mirror flashing his dimples and my heart melted like an Ice cream under the sun. I leaned backed and kept gawking at the rearview mirror where I could see his eyes, his eyes spoke in a language which I couldn't quite understand yet mesmerising and it was so difficult to take my eyes off of him. I was busy gawking at him when I realised he caught me burning holes in his eyes, he froze for few seconds but later a small smile played on his lips and that only made things worse for me as I could feel my heart beating in my mouth.
