Draco Malfoy | Waiting

"I bet the Sorting Hat got confused when it put ya in Slytherin, you Mud Blood!"

I glare at the dirty blonde boy when they started laughing with his friends. How can this boy look so good, yet act so arrogant? I mean, isn't that unfair? Giving good looks deserve to be admired to a person who only knows how to insult another person.

"That's enough, Malfoy." I turned around and met a black-haired boy wearing glasses face to face. The infamous scar etches into his forehead. Harry Potter, I mumbled.

"You're out of this, Potter." my eyes met Draco's and before I can say something for myself, someone block my view.

A tangle of bushy brown hair blocks my sight of Draco. Hermione, the girl who always raises her hands in class, folds her arms across her chest. Glaring back at Draco, who seems to be trying to look past her to see me.

"Don't you have anything to do, Malfoy? Or is it that all you know to do is feed your overinflated ego?" Hermione remark, raising an eyebrow at Draco whose glare deepens.

Seriously? How could I like such a boy? He looks so mean.

"Yeah, Malfoy. Don't you have anything to do?" This time it was a head full of bright red hair. Ron standing beside Hermione, trying to look as intimidating as her.

Okay. Why is the trio helping me?

"You know what, let's just ignore him. We won't get anything useful from him."

Before I could say anything, Hermione was already dragging me along with them. I look behind us and met eyes to eyes with Draco. But this time, he wasn't glaring at me or anything. Instead of glaring, he look like he wanted to say something. I didn't get to know if I was right, because Hermione already dragged me inside the school.

5 years later

Everyone's been on edge since our sixth year started. After all, the death of Cedric Diggory isn't that easy to forget, and I bet I will never. But it's not the only reason. The Dark Lord's arrival seems to be unavoidable.

But it's not the main reason why I'm sitting alone on a chair at Professor Slughorn's Christmas Party, instead of having fun.

Everyone's been minding their own business after some situations.

After Ron became a really good Keeper at Quidditch and started dating Lavander, he's been mostly out of sight. Probably smooching with his girlfriend somewhere. Hermione kept avoiding Ron for obvious reasons, of course. She's been really on edge since the two started dating. She gets pissed easily at everything. Harry on the other hand seems to be getting weirder and weirder ever since our first study in Professor Slughorn's Potion class where he perfected a draught of death. Something I'm still trying to make sense of how. He's also dealing with Ginny dating Dean, but it wasn't bad like Hermione's.

But Draco was the weirder of all. He seemed to have calmed down. Way calmed down after the events of the Triwizard Cup. He was still doing the same things last year, but it was already toned down. This year, he was really quiet. Like he was always thinking of something. I'll always catch him staring into the space. A tired look plastered on his face.

I've talked with Draco a lot of times, but I won't say I know where I stand on. After all, whenever we talk it will always end up in an argument. So I don't know whether were friends, enemies, frenemies, or anything at all. Though I hope it was more than any of those.

Hermione didn't attend the party. Ron's probably with Lavander, while Harry was in the corner talking to Professor Snape. Probably about something not nice again.

Sighing to myself, I stand up from my seat, planning to leave already. But then Filch burst into the room, dragging Draco from the back of his suit. Everyone stopped what they were doing. All our attention was drawn by the commotion caused by Filch.

"Professor Slughorn, Sir." he started, still holding tight at Draco's suit as he try to free himself. Our eyes met, but he quickly look away within a second. "I just found this boy lurking in an upstairs corridor. He claims to have been invited to your party."

I look at Professor Slughorn, scowling when I realize he might have not invited Draco. Is that why he wasn't here since the party started? What is he doing upstairs?

"Okay. Okay. I was gatecrashing. Happy?" Draco remark, glaring at Filch.

Then Professor Snape marches forward, stopping inches away from Draco.

"I'll escort him out." Once again, my brows furrowed. Why will Snape personally do so?

"Certainly, Professor," Draco answered, his teeth baring at Professor Snape. He then march out of the room, followed by Professor Snape. He glance at me for a moment before he finally disappeared out of the room. I've tried to follow them but Harry beat me to it.

"Stay here, Y/N." I tried to protest, but Harry only shakes his head before running off to follow Draco and Professor Snape.

The party went on after that. I didn't stay and went back to my room.

I pulled Draco into a corner outside the corridors, in the middle of class the next day. His eyes met mine, and as If he knew what I was doing, he let out what seem like a tired sigh.

"We don't have anything to talk about, Y/N." he turned around, planning to leave me, but I pulled him once more.

"What is going on with you, Draco? It's so hard to understand you these past few weeks." he swat my hand that was holding his arm, and face me.

"Mind your own business." he spat, finally leaving me standing alone at the corner.

After the Christmas break, everyone was more unsettled. After all, Ron's house was burned down by death eaters. Thankfully, everyone there that night was safe. After a few more days things started to calm down a bit, only to be disturbed again when Ron got poisoned by a drink meant to be a gift by Professor Slughorn to Headmaster Dumbledore.

I can't also get a grasp of Draco since the night of the party. I've tried to talk to him, but he was aloof. Like he was avoiding everyone. I also tried to find out what he's been up to, but he always disappears whenever I get close.

"Where's Harry?" I asked the moment I sat down at our usual table in the Great Hall. Only Hermione and Ron are there.

"I saw him run off after Draco." My brows furrowed. Why would Harry run after Draco?

"Where did they go?" I asked, already standing up from my seat.

"We don't know."

I quickly run out of the Great Hall. Not even knowing where to go. I don't know why but I suddenly felt something bad. About what? I don't know.

I searched every floor for them, but I've seen no one aside from the other students. No, Draco. No Harry. That was until I reached the sixth floor and was passing by the boy's bathroom when I heard a loud thud. I didn't know what's gotten into me but I hurried inside. Catching Harry inside with a surprised and scared look on his face. He was also sweating, his white clothe wet and dirtied.

My eyes then caught a figure sprawl on the waterlogged floor. Eyes wide, I run towards Draco, kneeling on his side and not minding the water on the floor wetting my skirt. Draco turned white, groaning in pain with ragged breathing. His white clothe filled with blood that stains the clear water on the floor. I grabbed Draco's hand, before looking back at Harry.

"What have you done, Harry?" I muttered, looking down at the wand in his hand. He opens his mouth and try to say something, but Professor Snape stormed inside. He stands on my side, looking down at Draco before looking at Harry. They stared at each other before Harry run out of the bathroom.

"Go back to your dorm, Ms. Williams." I look up at Professor Snape, shaking my head.

"I'm not leaving his side." We stared at each other for seconds, before Professor Snape let out a sigh.

"Move to the other side." I did what he told me, and move to Draco's other side, once again clutching his hand.

I watch Professor Snape kneel, place his wand on Draco's chest, and started muttering a spell.

"Vulnera Sanentur," Professor muttered the same spell a couple of times, running his wand across Draco's chest where a large wound is. Then the wounds started closing. The blood that flows on the wet floor, began slipping back on Draco's chest. Then the large wound along with the other wounds on his upper body started closing.

I then followed Professor Snape out of the bathroom as he carry Draco towards the hospital wing. He immediately leaves after placing Draco down on an empty bed, probably to talk to Harry. I wait for Madame Pomfrey to finish taking care of Draco before I grab a stool and sit right beside his bed.

Once again, I grab his hand, clutching them as I look at his peaceful sleeping face.

I might have fallen asleep because when I glance at the window, it was already dark, and Draco was staring at my face. His body leaning on his pillow to support him as he sits.

"I've been waiting for you to wake up." he softly muttered. He rubs the back of my hand with his thumb, and that's when I realize I'm still holding his hand.

"Are you feeling okay?" I asked, pulling the stool closer to his bed. He only stares at me. A smile slowly formed on his lips.

"What?" I asked, confused at the smile he was giving me.

"Madame Pomfrey told me that you never left my side since I was brought here." I smiled back at him, even though deep inside, worry are gnawing at me.

"Why? Do you prefer someone else?" I joke, biting my lower lip when the smile on his lips, slowly fades.

"That's not what I meant, Y/N, and you know that. We've never had a proper conversation ever since we were kids. So, I don't know why you'll waste your time looking after me." I let out a scoff, pissed at just how oblivious he is to everything.

Abruptly standing up from the stool, I let go of his hand and glared at him.

"Seriously, Draco? Just how naive are you? Do you truly think I would be doing this If I don't care? And do you think I will care if I don't feel anything for you?" he stares at me, not saying anything.

I stand there, staring back at him. My heart pounding loudly against my chest as I nervously wait for his answer, but he remained silent and I suddenly felt stupid for just saying my heart out. Biting my lower lip, I turned my back on him, ready to leave him without saying anything.

"Wait!" I let out a gasp when I turned around, just in time to see Draco falling off his bed. I rush to his side, quickly helping him up back to his bed.

"What are you doing?! That was da-"

My words were cut off when Draco's lips met mine. I felt like someone dumped a whole bucket of cold water over my head. Body stiffening, I instinctively tried to pull away, but his arm wrap around my waist and pull me closer to him before I can even move farther. I was pinned between his legs, as I finally let myself ease into his touch.

We slowly pull away from each other. He brushes a loose hair aside and stares at me. I was a panting mess, trying to catch my breath. Draco is still sitting on the bed, but our height doesn't have that much gap, so he doesn't need to look up at all.

I can feel his thumb drawing circles behind my back, as his arm rest around my waist. Caressing his face, I once again lean closer. Draco met my lips in the way, both of us smiling as we let our breaths sync in with each other.

"You're so beautiful..." he muttered the moment we pull away from the kiss.

"So... Does this mean-" I started, earning a chuckle from him.

"Yes, Y/N. I love you." A wide smile finds its way to my lips.

"Took you long enough." I joke, wrapping my arms around his neck, and chuckling when he pecks a kiss on my nose.

"I know I never told you anything, but I want to say that I won't leave your side no matter what happens," he stated, a glint of worry flashing across his eyes. I lean in, our foreheads leaning toward each other.

"No matter what you're going through now, we'll get past it together. Deal?" he grins at me. His hold tightened around my chest.

"Deal. But we might need to fix things with your friends first," he stated, and I then remember Harry and the others.

"They'll figure it out, and If they can't believe what's going on, I know they'll still come along."

Draco watches me as I sit beside him on the bed, resting my head on his shoulder. His arm once again wrapped around my waist.

"Together?" he started, earning another smile from me.

"Always." I finished.
