// THIS IS AN OLD CHAPTER. THE NEW CHAPTERS ARE IN VOLUME 2. YOU CAN READ THESE CHAPTERS IF YOU WANT SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN LATER BUT SOME EVENTS CAN BE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW CHAPTERS.
Shortly after I leave the house with my bag, the sheriff arrives in her patrol car. We are Susan, Matt, and I in the Sheriff's car with Caroline while Bonnie has gone to join Jeremy and Elena in Miranda's car.
"So, Sean, have you been back in town for a long time?" Elizabeth Forbes looks in a good mood. To think that in a few years, she will be drowning in vampire problems.
"It's not even twenty-four hours, I arrived this morning."
"Oh, well I'm glad to know you're back. Caroline missed you so much."
"Mom!" Caroline turns red as a tomato, to which the sheriff just answers with a smirk.
"Um, are we there soon?" The car ride starts to get awkward.
"We're just a few minutes away, Tyler planning his party near the Lockwood property. We're going to put a rope up to jump into the river it's going to be insane." Hope he's telling the truth, Matt and Tyler have been best friends since they were kids so I guess he can be trusted when it comes to whether the party, they threw is going to be cool.
We take a path that runs alongside the river and we drive for another ten minutes. When you get out of the car, about 40 teenagers that have more or less my age are having fun by the water.
"Thank you, mom." "Thank you, Sheriffs Forbes." The patrol car moves away following the road.
"Hey Matt, glad you're here man, there was Cynthia looking for you earlier." Tyler arrives in our direction with a short brown-haired girl in a swimsuit. My instinct for detecting supernatural danger sounds a bit but nothing to worry about. Tyler finally noticed my presence behind Matt. "What's he doing here? And you, it's a private party so get the fuck out." It seems he hasn't forgiven me for the rough push I gave him on the beach when I lost control two years ago. It's a shame, we got along pretty well back then.
"Calm down Tyler. Bonnie invited him over and he came with me. He just pushed you once when we were kids. Let it go, we're all going to relax and have a great day." It's a good thing Matt is stepping in to calm him down. It's probably thanks to him that Tyler didn't turn into a werewolf sooner.
I take the Tequila bottle out of my bag. "Here, let's say it's a gift to make peace." Tyler's eyes widen at the sight of the alcohol bottle.
"Wait, where did you find this?! Ok, all is forgiven. Come on, we're going to land by the water."
We follow him to a large cover placed in the shade of a tree just next to the stream. Several boys are fighting with water guns right next to us. Tyler opens the bottle and takes a swig of alcohol before he starts to cough.
"Wow, cow! This stuff is strong!"
"Ho, aren't you used to drinking anything other than fruit juice?" I didn't expect him to have much experience with alcohol. Most of the people here are between fourteen and fifteen.
"I've had beer or wine once or twice at family parties, but this. I'm coming back, there should be some orange juice somewhere to dilute it." It's true that without the lemon and the salt, you can't do much with it, I should have taken some in my bag.
A few minutes later, Miranda's car arrives and drops off Bonnie, Elena, and Jeremy. The girls are already in swimsuits ready to jump in the water and Jeremy has come like me with swim shorts and a t-shirt.
"Hey, it's been a while since the last time we've seen you, man, what's up with you?"
"Hi Jeremy, not much there. We're drinking tequila sunrise. Do you want some?" I hand them three red cups as they sit down with us on the sheet on the floor.
"Are you taught how to drink at your rich school in England?"
"But what do you all have with that school. Why do you think it's a super interesting thing?"
"It's an interesting thing! Nothing ever happens here; the most spectacular thing of the year is when the water fountain exploded, and the principal was drenched."
"Well, I won a tournament between my school and two others. I had a girlfriend but it's over as I'm coming back to settle here permanently. And I changed private school for one that is located in Massachusetts so I can come back on the weekends and holidays."
To say that I had a girlfriend was obviously a mistake when I see the effect it has on the girls in the group.
"Did you really have a girlfriend?! You were close? What does she look like? Did you have a fight when you broke up?" Caroline has just gone into hysterical mode; she holds my arms and starts to crush them as if it would make me respond faster.
"Calm down the questioning machine gun. We were pretty close. Yes, I found her very cute. And unfortunately, yes, she didn't take it well when I broke up. Can we talk about something else now? "
"Susan, come with me. We need to have a girls' talk. Elena, Bonnie, you're coming too." Caroline takes all this little world with her further. That Caroline's habit of getting involved in everything, all the time can be annoying.
All that's left are the boys and the girl following Tyler on the cover. I take this opportunity to take out the beers that I had stashed away. But I still feel that there is unease since the girls left. It's finally Matt who breaks the silence first.
"So, which one is your favorite?" I almost choke on the sip of beer I was swallowing.
"Excuse me?"
"Which one do you prefer between Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie? I have several friends who would love to date them, but Caroline has a crush on you and Elena said you had a conversation where you told her you liked her when we went to the beach. So, which one do you like? " I can't believe Matty is looking for my approval to not overstep me with Elena. It's Fairplay from him but a bit unnecessary.
"Well, you can tell your friends that with the mess that is my life right now, I'm not looking for a girlfriend so they can go for it. I wish them all the best." I smile at Matt and I think he knows I got it because he starts to blush.
"I'm going to go and cool off in the river, I'll be back." It also moves away from us in the direction of the water.
"It's cool what you just did, he's wanted to tell Elena is feeling for a while, but he's scared because of what you said to Elena the other time. Matt is her best friend. but he's been craving for more for a while. " Well, now there are only Jeremy and Tyler, and also the strange girl that came with him. Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing her in Mystic Falls before.
"I don't see how that is cool. You don't need my permission to live your life. If I'm not here, too bad for me. Besides, speaking of living our lives, I don't remember you?" I let out a little more of my veela aura to make her more receptive. I guess she must be a witch or a werewolf, but I don't know if my aura will affect them.
"Ho uh, my name is Joyce Allen. I moved in two years ago now, just before school started." Ok, the coincidence is far too great. Two years ago, the witches cast a spell on me and right after that, a supernatural creature that was not in the series moves to Mystic Falls.
"Nice to meet you, Joyce. I hope we can be good friends." I push my veela aura all the way. I feel like I am lifting a weight off my shoulders. It's like stretching out after being in a car for too long. The effect is immediate, and Joyce opens and closes her mouth like a goldfish. "So, are we going to swim, or do we continue the boring stuff?"
I walk towards the river and Joyce follows me as if she is attracted by a magnet. I take off my t-shirt and casually throw it at the edge of the stream. Tyler also follows us more out of jealousy than out of wanting to swim.
"Tell me about yourself, do you have any family?"
"Uh, yeah, I have a sister. She's the one who takes care of me since our parents died. She runs a bakery in town."
"Ha good, how interesting. And where did you live before that?" I give him one of my most devastating smiles. One of those who really messed up Daphne.
"We lived in a house by the sea in Virginia Beach. We can't travel very far normally, but we had to move here."
"Oh, that's very interesting. What could make a beautiful young girl leave her home to go to a small town?"
She was about to answer but suddenly she seemed to come to her senses.
"I… uh, I have to go." Joyce rushes out of the water as if she realized she was bathing with a snake.
Tyler walks up to me a little angry.
"What did you say to make her run away. I liked that girl."
"Nothing at all. I just asked her a couple of questions to get to know her. I don't know why she just ran away."
This confirms some of my suspicions. Joyce knows something and she was present in Virginia Beach the day the Beast was created. It's a lot of coincidence.
