An explosive marriage

// THIS IS AN OLD CHAPTER. THE NEW CHAPTERS ARE IN VOLUME 2. YOU CAN READ THESE CHAPTERS IF YOU WANT SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN LATER BUT SOME EVENTS CAN BE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW CHAPTERS.

It is today that grandmother Stryga and Ephtalius have chosen to get married. The weather is very nice this July 25 in the park of the founders of Mystic Falls which we rented for the ceremony and the reception. Wizards from all over the world came to attend, I think I had never seen so many since the final of the Quidditch World Cup. We had to pitch tents on the grounds of the old Salvatore mansion so that we could accommodate everyone and guess who had the chore of placing the anti-Muggle charms. Me. It took me all day to cast the same spell, over and over again, until I did the entire perimeter of the campsite.

The week of initiation for the creation of magic wands has ended. The teacher was so happy with Susan's wand-making skills that he suggested that she take the advanced class. Susan seems to like making wands because she asked my mother for wood to practice and experiment. On the other hand, I don't really have a talent for this craft. Of course, I know the properties of each material and each core but when I try to put them together it always gives some strange results. The most amusing result was the reed wand and mustache of kneazle core. When you cast a spell with it, a ghostly little kitten comes out and applies the spell to what it touches but the spell is much weaker than normal because a part of the power is dispelled to make the kitten appear. Oddly, it also purrs when I hold it in my hand. It gave Professor Carver a good laugh, who judged the result to be at least very original and wondered who this wand might one day be suitable for.

But other than that, nothing special happened during the lessons, I just catch up with a year of customs and laws of the wizarding world in two days and I need to practice a little more for the alchemy class.

Some guests have already arrived. Including my grandmother's sisters and their families, one of grandmother's two French cousins with her daughter and two granddaughters, Ephtalius' son with his wife and two children. There were also many friends of Ephthalius. A little less from grandmother who had to leave most of them in Bulgaria when she left the country, and in England when she came to live in the United States.

I stood at the entrance of the park to welcome the guests who have yet to arrive. I spend my time informing the wizards present, shaking hands, and giving directions to find the toilets. Some recognized me and started telling me about my inventions. I even signed my wizard card for Ephthalius' youngest grandson. This is the new edition where my latest achievements to date were added. My victory in the Triwizard Tournament, and the capture of Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black.

A new car arrives, and four women came out of it. The Delacour family has just arrived. Fleur sees me at the entrance chatting with an agent from the Supernatural Creature Control Section of the MACUSA. She looks very angry and walks straight in my direction without care for elegance or politeness. She has become a bulldozer ready to destroy anything in her path.

When she gets up to me, I get a slap on the cheek. It doesn't really hurt but I can feel all the force she put into it.

"That's for knocking me out and leaving me alone in the maze." Fleur is red with anger.

"Okay, I probably deserve that one." She regains her momentum and gives me a second.

"That's for leaving without saying goodbye." The blow hits me on the other cheek, she put enough force in it so that my cheek hurts a little.

"I probably deserve this one too."

"And finally, that's for not sending a letter or calling me!" She regains her momentum, and she clenches her fist. I avoided the punch that was aimed at my nose by grabbing her wrist to stop her movement.

"I clearly don't deserve this one though. You never gave me your address."

"And whose fault is it if you left like a thief in the middle of the night. I looked everywhere for you the next day, but you had already vanished" Ok, I can feel the misunderstanding coming with the other guests.

"You shouldn't say it like that, some person might believe things." Fleur is so angry that she doesn't understand what I mean. But after a few seconds, she finally understood and leave for the park, red with anger and shame.

The guests continue to come and go, some of them commenting on the argument that has just taken place. These comments fall into two categories, those that tell me I need to treat girls better and those that tell me they were the same at my age. There is more or less an hour left before the start of the ceremony when my father comes to find me.

"So, are there more people who have to arrive?" I look at the list of guests.

"There is still Professor Gallaway as well as Lana and her father. But otherwise, everyone's here." Sylvain Gallaway teaches botany for 4th and 5th-year students. From what Ethan told me, he is a kind teacher who takes good care of his students.

"It's okay, I'm sure they'll be coming soon. Come on, it's going to start soon."

We go to the first row of white chairs installed in front of the flowered arch which serves as an altar. Most of the guests are already seated and I find myself next to Max, Ephthalius' eldest grandson. He must be roughly the same age as me and must be in the same year or year below me in Ilvermorny.

The Master of Ceremonies arrives, an old man with a white beard and a bald head wearing a gray wizarding robe decorated with silver thread.

As soon as the vows are taken, we all stand up to applaud the bride and groom. It was time to dance now, but I'm not really in the mood for it. I go to the buffet where many trays await the guests. My parents have provided something to satisfy everyone with dishes from all the countries present, whether it is Bulgaria, France, the United States, or England.

While I am helping myself with some small toast with caviar, my ears pick up very light footsteps behind my back. As my senses do not warn me of danger, I don't move in order to see what will happen. A pair of hands are placed over my eyes.

"Guess who it is?" The smell and the voice leave no doubt.

"Hi, Lana, what's up?"

"What's up? Is that all? It's been almost a year since we last saw each other and all you have to say is what's up?" But what do they all have today? Is it the marriage that makes them aggressive like that?

"Uh, you look gorgeous in that dress. I am right?" That must be it, she wore a beautiful white dress where small pearls drew a flower field pattern on the bottom of the dress. Her long blonde hair was loose behind her back and she was wearing really light makeup that showcased her natural beauty.

"Thank you for the compliment but no. You haven't called me or sent me a single letter this year. Don't you have paper and something to write in England? You have opposable thumbs to dial my number? So why did I not hear anything from you for a whole year? "

"Um, I was very busy with the Triwizard Tournament? I promise I will be more careful in the future."

"I hope so." She looks at me insistently and I lose myself in the blue of her eyes. This girl affects me too much, I feel like I'm going nuts. "So, are you inviting me to dance?" She gives me a smile where her porcelain white teeth appear.

"Miss Quahog, would you grant me this dance?" I offer her my arm, which she seizes, laughing like a child.

"But gladly Mr. Bones." I take her to the dance floor where we start a waltz in the middle of the other dancers. Time appears to be in suspensions as we turn and twirl. But I feel a glare behind my back and my senses suddenly go on full alert. When I turn my head, I can see the president's eyes fixed on me. He sees that I noticed him and walks towards us.

"Lana, please give us a minute. I'd like to chat with Sean, it'll only take a minute." Lana looks at him suspiciously but stops dancing.

"Okay but don't scare him away. I don't want to lose a friend anymore because you interrogate him." She walks away to go talk to my Veela cousins. Samuel invites me to follow him as we move away from the dance floor.

"Well, what's your relationship with my daughter?" The whites of his eyes turn black and his irises blood red, his pupils split open like those of a cat. I feel pressure on my mind as if it was going numb, but I summon all my willpower and resist the influence of the president.

"We're just friends for now." I'll give him what he wants for now. As long as I don't know what I'm dealing with, I prefer to avoid being noticed.

"For now? So, you like her a little more than that?" He breaks into a satisfied smile. His teeth are completely different from a normal human, two rows of fangs replace his dentition. But what the hell is he exactly?

"Yes"

"In that case, you're going to be nice to her and you won't take the initiative to seduce her. She's the one who has to choose you because she's a hundred times better than you. And if you ever go out with her, you will treat her like a queen and you will never look at any other woman in your life again. Understood?"

"Yes"

"Perfect" I feel the pressure on my mind goes away. "Come on, go have fun boy, I think Lana left by ..." He doesn't have time to finish his sentence when we hear an explosion and a Fiendfire looking like a giant flame humanoid appears.
