"Jayde..." Her mother stopped, hands twisting nervously in front of her. "You're not...exactly... Well, you're not human."



Jayde stared at her mother only a moment before she started laughing. "You're joking, right? How am I not human, when you're a human?" She looked around, expecting the others to be laughing with her, but they all stared at her silently, faces blank masks. She turned back to Natashia. "What do you mean?"



"You're a vampire."
