Guardians Of The Dimensions

Denver regained his consciousness and was preparing for an attack again. Tania was confused, whether to open the passage or not. She couldn't decide. If she did, she will have to go with them to that ugly place again. That was the rule. If she didn't, the mages would create havoc on Earth. No one can stop them. The only one powerful enough to stop them is Aster. But he has not yet developed his skills. He doesn't even know about his abilities. She had to decide, now. She felt an ache upon her chest. Going back there, pained her more than anything. There was no one left for her in Depcod. Everyone was dead or killed. If she returned, she would have to live as a slave in that very place, she grew up. The very place her best memories remain. The very place her father and mother lived. She will have to serve the man who killed her parents. Her heart was unwilling to go back. The place would evoke painful memories. It did, last day, when she was taken there as a prisoner. She had felt that a hundred thousand knives were piercing her heart.

But now the was no time for emotions. She had to open the door and send those mages away. If she had to go back, she was ready for that too. She would live as a rebel there, her whole life if required. She would give up her life for the safety of the two worlds. She didn't mind. There was no one who loved her anyway. Even if she dies, no one would shed a tear. She remembered her father's words. 'Live for the people, and they will live for you inturn.' She had made up her mind. She decided to live for the people of both the dimensions.

She raised her hands chanting the spell to open the passage. She looked at the sky. The moon was still there. She couldn't open it. She tried again. This was in vain too. She couldn't understand what was happening. She had chanted the spell correctly. Then why? Tania was confused. She cursed herself as she failed her father. It was for him that she was struggling. But now, If she cannot open the door, then that means she failed him. Tania looked at the doctor puzzled.

The doctor scratched his head. It was clear that he was irritated. He looked puzzled too. He looked straight at Tania and asked her to try again. She tried again. Again she failed. It was of no use. She couldn't do it. Dr.Schwann wanted to shout at her. But he considered that it was not the right time. He looked at her with disappointment reflecting in his eyes. Tania was overwhelmed. That strong woman was at the verge of breaking down. She wanted to cry. Afterall she was a woman too. Even she had emotions. She felt helpless and desperate.

Denver had prepared himself for an attack. The teachers saw this and took it their responsibility to fight him. Hogman saw Aster's sword clearly now. The same sword, he had seen in that picture years ago. Hogman joined the teachers to fight Denver.

Aster watched Tania try and fail several times. That's when he remembered his conversation with doctor Schwann at the hospital. He had explained something about opening passages back then. No! It was about guarding the passages. He had said that there was a passage, a magical passage, connecting the two dimensions. The passage was guarded by two people on either ends. The doctor had said that a woman guarded the passage at the other end. Aster was by now sure that the woman was Tania. But the passage end of the earth was guarded by Dr Schwann himself! That's what he had said. If so, maybe only he can open the passage from earth.

Aster was still doubtful about his deduction, yet he decided to tell that off.

"Mr. Schwann, as you are the gaurdian of the passage on earth, maybe, only you can open it from here."

Tania's eyes lightened up. She hadn't thought of that. At least the imperial mage was not a fool. But she still couldn't understand why the stone chose him. That was when Dr. Schwann had thought of it too. He thought that Aster had a point. He raised his hands chanting the spell and concentrated hard. He looked up and saw the dragon flying off-balance. He couldn't see Denver, but was sure he was there. The passage slowly opened.

Aster looked up into the sky and saw a large black hole in the sky. A hole even larger than the largest mine in the world. Sienna and Eren saw that too. The whole world saw it. Everyone's gaze was fixed on the giant hole in the sky. All the armoured mages were sucked in by the hole. The dragons were sucked in too. Tania hugged Aster and Dr. Schwann and said goodbye to them. She voluntarily jumped towards the hole and disappeared. As soon as all the armoured mages had gone, the doctor closed the passage.

Hogman and the teachers were relieved that the mages went away, but they still couldn't believe what they saw. Such a weak mage like Aster holding a sword and fighting. Unbelievable! Aster wished that all the flames on his body go away. It happened as he wished. He also wanted the sword to go away. That happened in no time too.

It was almost morning. Eren and Sienna had to be taken to the hospital. Aster wanted to accompany the teachers to the hospital, but the teachers asked him to go home. The teachers had to discuss a lot of things. Doctor Schwann took charge of treating Eren and Sienna. Besides Eren and Sienna, there were a lot other casualties too. Doctors and nurses had a rough time at the hospital that day.

The teachers were thinking over everything that had happened that day or actually, the previous day. The reports of Aster beating up those boys, Aster informing about upcoming the attack, his name being known to that armoured mage, that mage trying to attack him, he using the imperial sword, the doctor opening a passage to the other dimension, all those created great upheavals in the teachers' minds, They couldn't decide what to do. They had seen Aster use the legendary sword with their own eyes. If this thing went public, it could effect the reputation of the school. In a good way or a bad way, it cannot be told now.

Aster went home with a burdened heart. He could see the first streaks of light piercing the dark velvet of the night. He thought about his friends who were now in the hospital. He thought about Tania who went back to the wolves for the world. She was a brave woman. Aster had started respecting her. He thought about Hogman. His legend. But Aster concentrated hard and tried to remember whether he had touched such a red stone or not. No! He didn't remember anything of the sort. Maybe, that was just a cooked up thing. The stone. But still... He wasn't sure. Astor reached his home. He could hear the pleasant chirruping of the birds. It cheered on up a bit. He reached the front gate of his house. He found that it was not locked. He crossed the frontyard and theporch and reached the front door. That was not locked either. He entered the house, slowly opening the front door. He did not want to wake others up. He locked the door and went up to his room. He didn't undress or bathe. He didn't even remove his shoes. He just jumped on to the bed and slept soundly. He was that tired.

Next morning Aster was woken up by his sister Amelia. Amelia shook him and poured cold water on his face to wake him up. Aster woke up with a start. He stared at his sister threateningly. She was nothing less. She stared back. The same menacing glare.

"Your headmaster has asked you to meet him today morning." She said.
