Twenty-first Century Tarzans

Amelia, Schwann and Hogman walked through the forest. The full moon took the tint of blood. They were on their guard. They could not let their guards down. Their searching eyes ran all around the place. They moved closer to the misty areas. They could hear faint, slow whispers.

"Do you think they'll be here?"

"I don't know. But there are four of them. Daniel, that doctor and those two kids. I think those peolpe from the ministry were wrong. They are too many people. It would be difficult to move out of the country. Do you think they will let us take Hogman away?"

"We really can't be sure of anything. We don't even know why he is helping those freaks. That girl with them is very strong."

"How do you know? Did you...?"

"Mmm... I checked her profile. She is called the strongest mage graduated from that mage school. All that scandal from about three years ago... She was included in all that. Moreover, I would call her the root cause of all those."

Louis was listening intently to Edward. The mentioning of the scandal made him more interested in that girl. "So you mean that al, those things that happened three years ago was all because of a little girl?"

"Don't underestimate that girl's powers. She can be even more stronger than Hogman's. I'm sure that she is hiding her powers. Even if she is not hiding something, she strong enough as she is."

"Whatever! Let her be. We are not here for a kid anyway! We need to pull Hogman out of danger. Haven't he had enough already? The whole world is viewing him as a criminal."

"Aren't we criminals? Don't the whole world view us as criminals? It never matters." Edward said carelessly.

Edward's careless attitude made Louis grit his teeth. He turned to look at Edward with a dark face. A sort of death glare! Edward was momentarily shocked to see Louis' deathly glare. His evertime red cheeks looked even redder. Moreover, Louis was ready for some tongue twisters. Edward couldn't help but laugh. Louis was so naive.

"Easy bro! Just kidding!" If anybody changed a lot after what happened those years ago, that one was Edward. He changed drastically after that incident. Too much that, the old naive and friendly Edward was replaced by a cold, ruthless, aggressive Edward. Edward become so difficult to manage even for Hogman. It was only Louis who could do something. And for Louis, he just turned more naive. The way the same incident had drastically different effects on two close friends seem quite unbelievable. But that was how it was.

"Edward, what would we do if we dinot find them today? We donot even have food stores."

"If we are trapped in this shithole, then we'll become two twenty first century Tarzans. We'll hunt and gather and do some itty-bitty berry picking, climb on trees, sleep in caves...."

Louis' face reddened again. He wanted to squeeze Edward's neck. It was Edward who wanted to find Hogman without any delay and now he doesn't even care. Shit! Hell shit!

"You! Go find cave to sleep! I'm not in! And if we donot find Hogman in this goddamn jungle, we'll find our way out and start searching for him all over again. Did. You. Get. My. Words?"

"Not quite. Firstly this looks like a magical part. Moreover I can sense incantations around the place. Only Hogman can set up such incantations that people donot even detect."

"Idiot! If people cannot sense it, how the hell did you sense it? Total knucklehead!"

"C'mon... We could not find him yet. Isn't that the proof. Solid evidence for him casting an incantation?"

"What if he is not here? What if we are wrong and the ministry is right? Huh?"

"Nothing much! We'll go on looking for our dear friend all our life."

Someone interrupted their loose talk. "Lucky you my dears! You really got lucky today!"

"GOD! Hogman!" Louis ran over to him and hugged him tight.

"I'm suffocating. Leave me alone! I'll die!"

"You ought to die!" Edward separated them and started beating him hard on his back."DIE! DIE! DIE!"

"Calm down now please! Why are you old farts here?"

"To take you back, of course. What do you think?"

"I heard you two speaking. Well... I'm not really ready to come with you two."

"Why? Aren't those medias reporting wrong? You are not with those kids right?"

Hogman sighed before replying. "Well... what you heard is true."

"WHAT?! Just come back with us. Leave them. Let them be on their own."

"That can't happen." He sighed again.
