Log 6

The room that she were in, was so utterly profound to Colette only cause she has never been in this situation before. She honestly was a normal girl who was trying her hardest to be a doctor, but right now it appeared that wasn't the case. The people here treated her like something else entirely. To them did they see her as a criminal, or so she thought.

Though she was treated as a criminal, these people saw her as special due to her connection with 049. Their so called friendship was so bizarre to these people, that they were trying to figure it out. Just what was going on in this place? Hopefully they would tell her, but there was that chance that they wouldn't say anything to her. They knew that they had power over her, and that was probably why she was so terrified right now.

"Tell us, what is your connection with 049?" asked the man who couldn't be seen at all thanks to the tinted black glass.

Colette looked at the glass wall as she tried to think of the right words to say. "I guess we are friends? I don't really know or understand it either?"

In the end she spoke up in pure honesty on the matter, even she didn't know what their relationship was all that well. All that she did know was that it was definitely similar to that of a friendship. A normal friendship that one would get from their best friend.

Silently after she had said this, did she hear the mumbling of two people talking right behind the dark colored glass. There was more than one person behind that glass wall now, and that was probably why she felt even more uncomfortable and scared.

It really was like she was being judged right now, and she didn't even know what would be decided on her fate.

"Dr. Collins has told us about 049 and his connection with you. He even spoke of the entity making a distraction to see you? Care to elaborate?" asked the same man from before. There was another gentleman who was speaking behind him, but Colette couldn't make it out entirely all that well.

Entity?, asked Colette's puzzled mind now at the moment that she had heard that word. So 049 wasn't a human? So then what was he?

Colette looked at the glass wall of dark colors as she decided again to speak honestly to these gentleman. And like before she expressed genuine feelings and thoughts about it. She didn't even know how he escaped his cell, and killed those guards either. "I honestly don't know how 049 got out or how he killed those people? All that I know was that I was kept away from him for a while?"

"Are you suggesting that if he wasn't kept away from you, he wouldn't of escaped to just see you and killed our men?"

The man's reply was quick and in a matter of fact tone. It was like he figured out her intentions, even though she had none to begin with.

"N-no I mean I don't know!" panicked Colette softly as she looked at the glass wall. "I didn't tell him to do that! I would never ask anyone to kill someone else!"

"I see?" replied the man who had asked the question before. His words then trailed off to the other man who was in the same room as him. Though it wasn't directed at her, Colette could hear his words as clear as day. "Bring 049 in here!"

His voice made her eyes go wide, and much to her surprise. She was actually kind of happy. Perhaps she felt that way, cause then she wouldn't have to be alone anymore.

However the sound of a new but familiar voice caught everyone's attention, including Colette.

Dr. Cade's voice was so loud that it sounded like she was in the same room as them. She probably was. "What do you mean bring 049 in there with her!?! Are you actually crazy!?!"

"Calm down, Dr. Cade." swiftly spoke the man in a calm manner. "If what she says is true, then the entity will not kill her."

Colette looked at the glass wall up until the sound of the door behind her was being opened. Looking back curiously did she look surprised at 049, due to him wearing all the chains and locks from before. From the looks of it, he must of hurried here. Why else would he and the guards, be here so quickly. He of course held himself well as always, with his head held high. But the moment he saw Colette was in the same room as him, did he close his eyes immediately.

"Ah!?! Colette!?! We are seeing each other again I see and so soon at that! We are even in the same room! Wonders never cease!?!" chuckled 049 loudly in elation. It was like the happiness completely filled the room in that instant.

This happiness seemed to increase much like him being greatly relaxed in her presence. Was this cause he was in the same room as her?

Now that Colette remembered it, he seemed so happy and pleased to be in the same room as her. After all they sat beside each other when he had caused a distraction to come see her. She even remembered how he leaned toward her, as if trying to get as close as possible to her. But he didn't want to go overboard with it, and completely invade her space.

The sounds of great surprise was hard to ignore, seeing that it was coming from the other side of the glass wall of tinted black. The two men who were behind there along with Dr. Cade, seemed so absolutely floored. Just their reactions were sudden and almost comedic sounding.

Colette looked at 049 as he calmly walked over to her, and he stopped to stand so close beside her. Just him being so close to her again, made her heart race like never before. She didn't even want to look up at him when he was this close, due to her face looking so flushed right now.

It was just so embarrassing how she acted around him! It just happened so quickly and without warning as well!

"Dr. Cade!?! You didn't tell us this!?!" firmly spoke the man who had finished gasping first.

"Yes uh well..." nervously continued Dr. Cade. "It doesn't mean anything! He is still dangerous to her!?! No he is!?!"

Colette looked at the glass wall curiously, for she heard footsteps running out on the other side of the room. It must of been the other gentleman who had ran out of the room, for the only voices that was heard was from Dr. Cade and the other gentleman who was in the room with her.

"I would never hurt Colette. Watch your mouth!" retorted 049 as he heard the voice from Dr. Cade.

The sound of his voice was even agitated which was why Colette looked at him in light surprise. His eyes from what she saw were filled with a seething rage. It honestly was like he was greatly insulted by Dr. Cade and her words.

Colette looked at the glass wall slowly, for the voices stopped immediately after 049 had snapped in their direction. She of course looked back at 049 and was greeted with him closing his eyes at her in what appeared joy. In response to this did she smile to him, and of course he allowed a small chuckle to escape his mouth.

"049 what is your relationship with her?" asked the man who had been silent for a little bit of time. He of course asked this question after seeing 049 chuckle at Colette.

"We are trusted colleagues." was the reply from 049 who stood tall at her side. He also didn't seem to mind standing at her side either. On the contrary, he looked unbelievably comfortable at where he was.

"She told us that she didn't tell you to escape and kill those people? Is that true?" was the next question that was asked.

"Of course. I did that of my own free will." coolly replied 049 as he closed his eyes in silence.

However the next question made Colette look surprised. It was clear that she was not expecting it.

"If she told you to kill someone, would you do it?"

Why? Why would they ask such a thing?

Colette would never understand.

049's reply did gain Colette's attention however, for he sounded so serious at first but yet it was so utterly sincere. "I would if she was to ask of me. But of course she would never ask me to do something like that. Colette is special after all."

Colette couldn't help but look at him silently with her eyes somewhat wide. She blinked at him as he chuckled at her as he tilted his head calmly to his right. "All to special."

There was silence now from the other side of the black glass, and it must be because the man didn't know what else to say.

When it was thought that he wasn't going to say anything, did he finally say something. "I see. Well it sounds like to me that you two must be kept close together for further analysis?"

"WHAT!?!" exclaimed Dr. Cade now. "I don't think that is a good idea!?! Do you not remember what happened to Dr. Hamm who was said to be a colleague to 049!?!"

The mentioning of Dr. Hamm made 049 glare sharply. Colette who didn't know who that was, blinked a few times in question. She soon looked at 049, and was actually surprised by the face that he was making now.

049 must of known who he was for him to make such a face. Perhaps he was another good friend of 049, but of course Colette didn't really know that for sure. Not to mention that she was also curious. Just what exactly happened to Dr. Hamm?

"You are the only one who voted that 049 and Colette to stay apart, Dr. Cade? What we have here is something that we have never have seen before! So we must keep them together!"

The voice from the man was serious as he talked to Dr. Cade, and he kept his attention on her as they conversed. It was obviously clear that he wanted to see what would happen, the more closer they got. But this opened Colette's eyes to another thing however?

Dr. Cade didn't want the two of them to get any closer than they were, probably cause she didn't trust 049 in the slightest. And there must be another reason why that was? From the sounds of it, Dr. Cade didn't want Colette to get hurt. Why would she think that?, well Dr. Cade showed great alarm and concern when 049 had escaped his cell to see her.

She even asked her if he had touched her, and showed great relief when he didn't. Dr. Cade must of cared, which further proved Colette's thoughts on her somewhat. Dr. Cade was a nice person, well to her anyway. So then why did she keep things from her? Unless she was told to.

"Hm oh yes? I must inquire about something? Where is Colette's mother?"

049's words were quick and to the point, as he asked this. Colette looked at him in surprise and what she got was him shifting his eyes to look at her, but for only a few seconds. Afterwards did he look at the glass wall as he waited for them to answer him.

"What importance is she to you? You don't know her?" replied the man quickly in response.

"She is important to Colette, which is important to me. Her mother is so important that she broke down into tears before me. I do not like her tears, so I suggest you allow Colette to see her mother at once!" 049 was stern with his words, and even his voice became a little agitated as well. Though he was standing there and didn't look all that threatening to Colette, his appearance looked very agitated to those behind the glass wall. He was more or less threatening them, though it didn't sound that way to Colette. Or maybe she did hear the threat, for her to make such a stunned face.

****

Colette looked at 049 with her face never changing, and honestly to her she felt oddly touched by his words. He really was trying to help her out. Why else would he say the things that he did. 049 didn't want her to cry anymore in his presence, and so is demanding that they allow her and her mother to meet. The thing was now, would they?

There was muttering between two voices behind the glass wall now, which didn't sound like a good thing. Especially at first but eventually it changed to something more positive. Even though the sound of Dr. Cade gasping in surprise, was a sign that she was not expecting the man to agree to the terms. Whoever he was.

"Very well."

Colette literally felt like jumping up in her happiness to what was said, but she miraculously held herself back. She did however give 049 a look of gratitude with a smile, which he nodded to her while lowering his head lightly in a bit of a bow. His eyes were closed as well, which made it seem like he was smiling behind the mask.

It was almost like he could feel the happiness from her, and it made her think. Did he?

"We will allow her to see her mother sometime tomorrow. But right now we have other things to turn to." spoke the man behind the glass wall that kept them from seeing how he looked.

Colette looked in the direction of the voice, for she wondered what other questions that would be asked of her or 049. She felt really good right now and she had 049 to thank for that. But that joy was made to sink at the next question that was now being asked. Colette could even feel her heart beat fast when she heard it.

"Dr. Collins spoke about a journal, Colette? Apparently 049 made you one? Care to explain that?"

His voice was seriously directed to her and truthfully she felt nauseous. She could tell him the same thing that she said to Dr. Collins, but she felt very scared to. What would happen if she did? Would they believe her or would they know that she was lying?

As she felt ready enough to reply to the question asked of her, did she blink to 049's voice. "He must of heard things. After all, you all seem so surprised by our friendship?"

Colette glanced over at 049 who said that so calmly, he even had his eyes closed. That was all it took for her to say something. "He didn't give me anything?"

"Ah! I of course had mentioned of making her a journal and I am still working on it. Perhaps that is what he heard?" spoke 049 now as if remembering it. He even lifted up his hands which were shackled in the cuffs, as he rubbed the bottom of his white porcelain mask. It wasn't long until he laughed, in a manner of embarrassed laughter. "Silly me to forget something so important!"

The silence which came from the other side of the glass wall, meant that they actually believed his words. If that wasn't enough, did the man speak up as he asked. "I see? Why are you making a journal for her?"

Colette looked at 049 curiously, with wide eyes. Who would of thought that 049 was a good actor as well?

"Colette is a doctor in training so I plan to give her guidance!" replied 049 in elation as he laughed some. He lowered his gloved hands away from his head, as he kept his hands in front of him now.

Colette looked at the glass as she decided to say something. "That's right? I am missing so much school so any little bit helps!"

Dr. Cade who had been quiet this whole time, finally said something. "Then I can help you out! You could probably learn more from me and..."

"Nonsense! I will teach her everything that she needs to know and more! Besides I have more experience and knowledge than you!" firmly spoke 049 who was quick to cut her off coldly, "I have spent a lifetime unlike you."

A lifetime?, asked Colette's puzzled mind as she looked at 049 curiously in a glance. Just how old exactly was he?

"That is enough now, Dr. Cade. You may go now." spoke the man the moment that he heard Dr. Cade scoff sharply to what 049 had said.

"But..!" retorted Dr. Cade but the man whoever he was didn't let her finish. "Go on! You have work to do!"

Colette was sitting there as she listened to what was happening on the other side of the glass wall. She tilted her head for a second before looking at 049 curiously with a bit of a smile on her face. "Have you really been around that long?"

049 nodded as he chuckled to her, his eyes which have been closed were open as he looked at her now. "I have! Do you believe it?"

Colette giggled at him though she felt a little funny as she done so. She didn't want him to think that she was laughing at him. "I don't really know what I believe? But you really are just a interesting guy!"

049 laughed at her calmly with his eyes closed, his shoulders shook as he done so. Her words tickled him more than he thought, for he kept laughing for a little bit more afterwards. "Oh! Colette you just know what to say to me!"

Colette laughed at him with her eyes closed, she actually felt honored that she was able to make him laugh a lot. You know what some doctors say?, laughter really was the best medicine.

The sound of a door closing, made Colette look at the glass wall suddenly. Dr. Cade must of left, or what was being heard before they started their small conversation, was that she was forced out. She blinked once at the voice from the man again, "I apologize for that. Shall we continue?"

"Yes sir." nodded Colette before looking at 049 who had stopped laughing now. She smiled at him and she watched as his eyes closed to her in response.

"If everything that you both have said is true then I suppose that we will change somethings. But we will keep you together to see what transpires?"

Colette looked over with faint surprise before smiling some. "Okay?"

"You may go now 049." spoke the man before changing the direction of his voice to tell the guards who had escorted 049 there. "049 is ready to return to..."

"No I'm not." replied 049 abruptly to cut the man off. "I wish to stay near Colette."

Colette looked at 049 in light surprise before she smiled some toward him. "Thank you so much!, but I think I will be okay?"

"Are you sure?" questioned 049 as he looked at her genuinely curious as he tilted his head to her.

"Yeah! I will let you know if they do anything to me later okay?" reassured Colette who closed her eyes with her smile still evident upon her face. "Talk to you real soon promise and thanks again!"

049 chuckled at her as he turned away from her, as he walked calmly to the door in a comfortable gait. "Very well and of course.", he looked back at her from over his shoulder before stepping out of the door to be escorted back to his cell.

The sound of the door closing made Colette look back at the glass wall with her smile still on her face. She did blink however to the sound of light laughter from the man, who had witnessed everything. "Incredible!?! He is so different to you it is astounding!"

Colette lightly laughed nervously in reply to his words and reaction. She still wasn't use to being seen as special still. "Yeah?"

"Yes! He didn't fight against you or anything! This relationship that you have is unlike anything we have seen!" replied the man whose voice still held onto his surprise and joy of everything that he had witnessed.

Colette kept smiling before he said something else about a different matter. "Well getting back to a more important topic, we need to do further research on you and tests."

"Tests? Research?" asked Colette curiously who tilted her head.

"Yes. Since you have told me the things that I wanted to know. I guess it is fair to share with you somethings that we have found out on your blood?" replied the man with a serious tone of voice.

"Okay? Is it related to my illness somehow?" asked Colette who felt a weird chill as it went down her spine.

"I believe so? But further tests will be needed to verify that. But what we did find out is that your blood is unlike anything that we have seen?" his reply made Colette blink in great surprise.

"Do I have a rare blood type?" asked Colette now with wide eyes. Of course she knew her own blood type which was O+, and some would consider her blood type to be rare though it was the most common, but there are those who merely just see it as just simple blood without any real meaning.

"Well how do I put this? Your blood is not normal per say?" his words were having a hard time explaining it to her. "Compared to other blood tests, yours changes? When Dr. Cade drew your blood for a test, it changed color. It wasn't red anymore?"

"Huh!?!" blinked Colette in further surprise to this information. "What color did it change into?"

He waited for a bit before replying to her, "It changed to a reddish purple color?"

That's crazy!?!, yelled Colette's mind now as she sat there completely shocked. She didn't know that her blood did that, and she was never told of it either. As far as she knew. What did that mean then? What was going on with her blood?

"So you want to do more tests on my blood?" asked Colette slowly with a bit of fear etched into her eyes.

"Yes. Perhaps that is how that sickness wiped out your family? Maybe the blood in your family had something to do with it?" he suggested this. "We won't know until we do more testing though."

"I see..." softly spoke Colette with a nervous look upon her features.

If what he was saying was true, then her mother was dealing with the same thing that she was. Which was a terrifying thought to think about. She honestly didn't know what to think of this information, but it made her more scared for not only herself but her mother.

She also was glad that 049 was not here, to hear this information. There was no telling what he would do. If he was so negatively affected by the sight of her tears, what would he do if heard about this.

"Like I said before, you may see your mother tomorrow. But afterwards will you be going through some tests."

His voice broke her out of her thoughts temporarily as she looked at the glass wall. She nodded in reply to his words. "Okay. Then after my tests?"

"You will be with 049 to continue that testing as well. So tomorrow will be a busy day for you." After the man had said that did the sound of a chair being pushed back gave hint that this little meeting of sorts was over. For another time, whenever that was.

"Okay." nodded Colette as she softly stood up from the chair that she had been sitting in this entire time. The moment that she walked to the door, did it open before she was to reach out to touch the doorknob. Colette looked out of the door, and was greeted by a guard who would be escorting her to her cell.

The guard of course was armed, but nodded to her silently as he began walking. Colette was quick to follow after him, with her eyes down.

Her thoughts were literally all over the place now, and it didn't help that she was starting to worry for her mother. Honestly, if that illness was to literally come back and take her mother from her. She didn't know what she would do.

She hoped that by doing these tests, would it save her mother as well as herself. But what would she do if this illness was untreatable? After all it wiped her family out, and nothing that the doctors did helped.

Colette couldn't deny it but she was horribly scared of what was to come.

****

The familiar sight of her cell coming into view, brought a sense of strange comfort to Colette. Her poor mind and heart were feeling so defeated at this moment. Especially since her spirits were at their lowest level, due to her fearing for both herself and her mothers lives.

Colette looked up at the guard who was opening the door to her cell for her. She waited until the door was fully open, before walking inside of it. Once she was inside, did she look back and watched the door close behind her.

Standing there in silence now, Colette would softly hug herself with her eyes looking down. Just what would she do?, if the tests don't help her find a cure to this god awful illness that has plagued her life for so long. Colette didn't know what to do anymore, especially since so much stuff happened today.

Slowly did she approach her bed, and as she softly laid down onto it did she jump up. That was right, the journal that he has made her was still hidden underneath her bed pillow.

Of course she tried to read it before, but was interrupted by a frantic Dr. Cade.

Colette looked back behind herself for a little bit, before softly taking out the journal with her name embroidered in gold threading on the front. That was right, 049 was a doctor. Perhaps he could help her and more importantly her mother!

Not only that but maybe she can help 049 as well! All that she had to do was read the journal to get a better understanding of his work!

That feeling of defeat and fear, literally went flying out of her being. Those feelings were of course replaced with determination to save not only herself but her mother from this horrible illness.

Immediately did Colette sit up in her bed with new found energy, with the journal open to the first page. But of course her eyes went wide to a small hand written paragraph, which was actually done by 049 to her.

The message that was written to her was rather sincere in what was the best hand writing that she has seen. To put it simply, 049's writing was a stunning form. Almost like it came from a different place in time. Which in reality it was, due to 049 being rather old in age and yet he didn't sound or look it.

His writing was easy to read, but it held a unique form. It was cursive without a doubt, but it was the kind of writing one would see in old documents from back long ago. Would the word medieval fit or would that be going to far?

As her brown eyes slowly read the message, was it almost like she was hearing 049's voice within her head. She could almost see him within her head as he was sitting in his cell, as he wrote this out to her.

"Colette, I hope that this journal helps you to understand my work better. No I know it will. I honestly believe that you and I will cast down this plague once and for all.

I know that you only see yourself as a mere doctor in training right now, but what I see is so much more. You are my only trusted colleague, and I cannot do this without you."

"049, you really believe in me don't you...?" softly smiled Colette as she wiped her eyes of the small tears that dare to spill out of her eyes. Colette closed her eyes as she nodded with a serious resolve to help 049. If she does then her mother would be saved, much like herself. Opening her eyes did her smile grow in size. "I will help 049. I will!"

Colette took special care as she turned the front page of the journal, as her eyes were quick to read his hand writing. Each word and paragraph appeared before her pretty brown eyes, as she read the contents of the journal. That was especially made for her, and her alone.

She kept reading while taking great care of each and every page that she turned.

The more she read and the further she got into the journal, did her heart pick up in speed. The things that were in the journal, made her head spin and yet she actually understood what he was saying. Truthfully it was absolutely crazy what she was reading right now. But all of it was real and it made sense. But why?

Is it cause him and her had a connection?, or was she so desperate to save her mother that she was willing to take any kind of help. No matter how absurd and strange that it was.

His findings were so graphic and in so much detail, that it appalled her at first. But the more she read it and thought more about it, did she finally understand it.

Now she understood how he was viewed as dangerous to everyone here. He definitely was not normal, and had much sharper senses than that of any normal human being that she has ever seen. In all honesty, she couldn't believe that all of this was real. But it was, and she wasn't dreaming either for she was wide awake.

Colette had been reading for so long, that she was in the middle of the journal now. Her mind was on fire to everything that she has read up until now.

049 can actually kill people by mere skin contact by simply touching them with his gloved hands. He can even reanimate corpses, which was disturbing yet impossible to believe. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at the journal that was in her lap.

From what she has read, was that his cure was yet not perfect but he believes that he is close. So very close. He needs to do so much more work now to actually perfect his cure, and once he does will things become different for everyone. Mankind could actually be saved.

The thing was though, everyone here didn't believe in him or rather they were terrified of him and what he could actually accomplish.

Hell it even scared her no it terrified her beyond belief, but she couldn't be scared. Not now! Her mother's life was on the line! It literally was a race at this point. If she couldn't help 049 complete his cure, then both her mother and her would die.

Colette looked up in thought before getting an idea, as she softly flipped to the back of the journal. Once at the back of the journal did she see quite a few blank sheets in the back, and to her surprise the cursive word 'Notes' were written on each. Curiously did she count the back pages of the journal, and when she stopped did she count over a hundred and fifty empty pages for notes.

That honestly made her smile, he must of known that she would be writing somethings out. Regardless of that fact, she was happy that he did it. Now she can actually write down things that would help 049 and herself. With both of them helping each other out, would they perfect this cure and actually save her mother from a painful yet scary death.

Colette was so busy doing what she was that she about nodded off to sleep. Of course she stopped before she was to pass out from overworking herself and her brain. "Yep time for bed!" softly smiled Colette as she closed the journal carefully.

After closing it, did she softly place it underneath her bed pillow with a smile.

Softly did Colette lay down onto her bed with a smile on her face, though her eyes were closed. Her mind was still burning with all that she had witnessed and read today.

"Hopefully things work out tomorrow?" sighed Colette now who was still a little troubled about the news of her blood. She just hoped that she could help 049 in time to perfect the cure, that he is working so hard on.

All that she could do was offer her help right now, she just hoped it was enough.

It took a little bit of time, for Colette to fall asleep. But once she had did her mind come alive, due to everything that she had read in her journal.
