Ch 1 Part 3

Adie Bennion: (Raising his brow, he looked on at his daughter…) "What is the question you need to ask?"

Sachi Bennion: "Have you ever had any dreams that explained the ranking system set by our god? Cause I had the strangest voice telling me all about the markings on our arms. In great detail too, was it prepping me for part of my role?"

Adie Bennion: "I cannot say that I have ever heard a voice telling me the duty of an alpha, but it would seem that if you are getting those kinds of instructions, you should listen to her voice. Our god does indeed have a plan for you. Feel glad that she is talking to you, even if it was indirectly. Most of us do not have such luck."

Ceilic Bennion: "Why not just celebrate the fact that she can kind of walk on her own. I am going to go and get the special medicine myself this time."

Adie Bennion: "I will go have the cook prepare you something a little more solid this time for breakfast. You must be starving with as fast as you are healing. I will help you to the outhouse. Just remember to act worse than you are."

Sachi Bennion: "Yes Father. I understand. Shall we make a good showing of it?"

He simply smiled and helped me stand. Bracing me, he helped me as I hobbled out the door towards the outhouse in an exaggerated fashion. Still contorting my face as though it were sheer agony to merely walk. I must say I made a good showing. Stumbling my way into the outhouse, I could hear my father slightly snickering under his breath as he leaned against the door while I was in the outhouse. I pushed against the door letting him know I was ready to come out. With my hair covering most of my face, I smiled at my father and went to work acting like my body was on fire from pain. One of the relatives stood on her porch as she was tossing used water, she just stared intently at Sachi, hatred in her eyes.

Making our way back into the house, father helped me to sit on the edge of my bed and was off to get me something for breakfast. I poured myself a glass of water and sipped on the cup gradually. I picked up my comb and ran it through my hair, I sat it back down on the table and got up unsteadily as I walked toward the center of the room. I was taking my chances with tripping, but I needed to get that walking in some. I already knew I could not quite pick up the larger pans to fill them with water. But I knew another bath was needed to scrub my skin clean of the old medicine. I finally made my way to the stool by the first fire and sat down, glad that I did not trip and fall flat on my face. With the help of the fire, I felt warm and comfortable. I could not quite explain, maybe it was something the original Sachi did on a regular basis that has somehow crept into me. That was fine though, I felt at peace just sitting here in front of the crackling flames.

I lifted my arm and looked at the large birthmark shaped like a wolf. It fascinated me how it appeared so lifelike. I began to wonder if all the alpha's marks looked like mine. Though my father always wears a longer sleeved shirt, so I did not know the answer to that. Maybe he would let me look at it one of these days. I had clear memories of my brother's arms, their wolf was not colored like mine was, though it was complete and all lines connecting. Maybe fathers looks the same way. As I sat marveling at how much most of my body had already healed, my parents both came in the door at the same time. They spotted Sachi sitting there just looking at her mark. Walking over to her, they pulled up a couple of stools and sat down next to her. Her father handed her a bowl of soup and a spoon. Reaching out, she took them from her father and began to eat with a smile upon her face.

Sachi Bennion: "Thank you for the soup father. It is delicious. I wanted to take a bath but realized how tired I got stumbling my way to the stool. I do not hurt nearly as bad, but the deep ache is still there."

Ceilic Bennion: "Once you have finished your food, take your medicine. This second heavy dose should have you up to almost full health at the rate you are healing up. I still cannot believe how much better you got from one dose. Your ability to heal has always amazed me."

Sachi simply smiled at her parents as she finished her soup. Her mother handed her the special medicine to drink. She drank it down as quickly as she could remembering how damn bitter it was. The look of distain showing on her face for it. Her parents simply laughed seeing her face contort to the medicine. She then handed her mother the bowl back, she took the glass of water her mother was offering in an attempt to get the taste out of her mouth. Now is one of those times she wished they had hard candy lying in a bowl somewhere. She could not stand the taste of peppermint candy, but she would welcome one right now. She simply smiled at her parents and thanked them for helping. She then asked about the water situation for the tub.

Sachi Bennion: "I was curious to know if the maids could get some water put in the washtub. I would like to scrub the old medicine off my skin."

Ceilic Bennion: "Of course. I will have them double the amount of water due to the fact that I would welcome a bath too. You were not doing it on purpose, but you used my bath water last two nights."

Sachi Bennion: "Well it is not like I did it on purpose mother. I do not know about anyone else, but the idea of having an infection due to injuries did not sit well with me. Let alone anyone else."

Adie Bennion: "She has got you on that one my love."

Ceilic Bennion: "You know that is not what I meant. Anyway, I will have the amount of water doubled that way we can get cleaned up too."

Adie Bennion: "I cannot argue that. Oh, by the way, my best high-end betas are keeping a close eye on your siblings and cousins. If they dare move in a fashion that even resembles a meeting of sorts, they will be brought to the guards' cells for questioning. The tracker already knows who one of them is for sure, we just want to catch them slipping up by meeting."

Sachi Bennion: "That is great father. With the way they have been, I do not believe it will take too long before they slip up. I am more than sure they have just been absolutely stewing over the fact that I lived."

Her mother called for the maids to double up the water and get the tub prepped. They came in two at a time and began filling the large cauldrons sitting in the fireplace. Sitting on top of what appeared to be large rocks, the cauldrons heated up rather fast. Within an hour, there was plenty hot water. The maids topped off the tub and began filling the water again for her mother and father. Getting up, Sachi stumbled toward the tub, her body racked with pain as the healing effect of the medicine was making itself known. Standing behind the screen, she took her nightgown off and laid it down upon the stool. Taking care, she carefully climbed into the tub and began her bath. She dunked herself under the water and enjoyed the fact that her hips did not feel like broken balls anymore. Sitting back up out of the water, she began to scrub herself down. The soap did not sting hardly at all compared to the last few days. That special medicine is really something to be admired. She finished up by washing her hair. She was still amazed at the jet-black hair with naturally occurring white tips. After a thorough rinse, she stood up, wringing her hair out as best she could and carefully got out of the tub, drying herself off, she put the night gown she had taken off back on. Still walking shakily, she walked back toward her bed and sat on the edge. Picking up her comb, she ran it through her hair and braided it. She poured herself a cup of water as the maids came in and emptied the tub in preparation for her parents.
