His memory came back to him from when he was first exiled from his tribe. All the members of the Blue Moon Tribe were gathered in the large meeting hall, the elders sitting in their places as though they were judges for Selene herself. Bowden had been kneeling on his knees, his hands tied behind his back with a silver laced rope, preventing him from using his full strength. He looked on as his father and the village leaders spoke.
Bowden's father: "Son, you have killed a member of your tribe, and not just any member. You have killed your own mother, my mate. I am the Alphas number one Beta. I cannot allow you leniency simply because you are my son. Examples must be shown and followed no matter how much it pains me."
Alpha of Blue Moon Tribe: "I have to agree with your father. This is not something that our ways allow. The best thing we can do for you, since you killed your mother, is banishment. I know it was an accidental killing as you were in battle with the feral wolves, that is why you will not be put to death. Selene has always commanded that the guilty party be exiled if it was accidental. So, this is the proclamation that you have been given. Bowen Clingan, you are hereby banished from the Blue Moon Tribe till the goddess feels you have repented enough."
Bowen sat on the ground as his world seemed to crumble. He accepted his fate as it was an order of the alpha of his tribe. His father could not go against the orders once given. Within a few days of that meeting, he was taken to this area and left in the wilds. He came out of his thoughts when Arlynn stirred. He looked to her thinking to himself that he would finally have someone to talk with at the very least. It was already painfully obvious that she had no clue how to take care of herself. But he was unsure of how the confrontation was going to go. He reached out and tapped her on the arm once he seen her struggle to open her eyes. She opened her eyes with minor shock showing on her face as she let out a gasp. Bowen just sat there sighing heavily as he tried to speak to her.
Bowen Clingan: "I am Bowen. What are you doing here? And why is your smell so off? I can tell you are a werewolf, but something is not right."
Arlynn Bennion: (Confusion and shock took over her face as she looked upon Bowen with a shaky voice…) "What…what…do…. you…want from me?"
Bowen Clingan: (Her looked at her with confusion momentarily before answering…) "I do not want anything. I just want to know why you are here in my territory. Could you not tell it was already claimed?"
At this point, Arlynn was beginning to freak out some. How does one explain the goddess taking your wolf and putting it to sleep basically? She stared at him in confusion for a moment before answering him. She only had five days left anyway, one more enemy would probably kill her faster. What did she care? Her demeaner changed and she started to tell him what happened.
Arlynn Bennion: (Shrugging her shoulders in an exaggerated fashion, she began to speak as if it were a normal occurrence to have the goddess talk to one directly, but her attitude clearly showing the hatred at the same time…) "I was banished from my tribe by Selene herself. She used my sister as a conduit and spoke to our village after I tried to kill her. But my sister, the goody two-shoes she is, is her special sent alpha female, so here I am, banished from my tribe with two conditions to meet. But I do not care about them."
His eyes widened with her statement, the fact that she was her sister, let alone the special sent alpha female? He could hardly believe his own ears at such disloyal treachery on her part.
Bowen Clingan: "You actually tried to kill your own kin? No wonder the goddess was mad. And your sister is the special marked alpha? This was inevitable."
Arlynn Bennion: "I do not care what you think. It is my choice to act the way I do. I do not care if it mirrors a humans behavior or not."
Bowen Clingan: "We are not human, why would you act as such?"
Arlynn Bennion: "I already said I do not care. My jealousy has led me here. My wolf has been suppressed by the goddess herself as well as one of my cousins. I do not know where she wandered off to. But I have about a week left. The goddess has stripped me of everything, my wolf, my mate, and my sense to know that others are my kind. What more could you possibly do to me now?"
Bowen Clingan: "Clearly you have no remorse in yourself for what you have done. Once you have rested enough, you will continue on this road toward the northwest and leave my little bit of territory. I do not kill without cause. I still make my offerings to our goddess. Human behavior has nothing to do with us. Now, I give you three hours to get out of my sight and territory."
Arlynn simply shrugged her shoulders without a care in the world. She sat at the fire to warm herself more. Bowen heard her stomach growl and tossed her a pouch of dried salted meat and a water bottle he made from a gourd squash. She looked at him funny for a moment as she picked up the two items.
Arlynn Bennion: "Why are you giving me these?"
Bowen Clingan: "To have the energy to leave my territory. You can have the water gourd. I can make another easy enough. Now eat, drink, pack you stuff and leave within the time frame I gave you."
With those parting words, he got up, leaving a devastated looking Arlynn behind. His focus was now on finding the other person that was banished with her. Maybe, she was someone worth talking to. Though he did stick around long enough to make sure Arlynn was on her way. After an hour by the fire, she had finally eaten the meat and drank the water. She took more of the clean snow and put it into the gourd. Setting it by the fire, it melted, and she topped it off with more snow and continued till it was filled. Making sure to save some of the meat she was given, she packed everything she had loose up and placed the pack board on her back once again. She trudged in the direction she was told, making sure to take one of the good-sized sticks with her to act as a torch. Bowen watched from a distance as her form got smaller and smaller. Satisfied she was gone, she continued walking the outskirts of the area he claimed as his own. Determined to find the other person who had been banished with her.
But first things first, a new water bottle. It is a good thing he had several gourds that were already being dried and prepped. Making his way back to his encampment, he caught a faint scent he was not familiar with. It raised his curiosity quite a bit, maybe it was the other girl the one spoke of. He had not realized how long he had been out trying to hunt for food. He quickly grabbed another water bottle and more salted meat and headed back out, letting his nose take him to the scent. After about half a day's walk, he came across smoke that appeared to be coming from a tree. In a panicked state, she ran to see what it was. As he neared, he realized, it was a tiny chimney that had been built onto a makeshift fireplace. He cocked his head to the side as he watched a girl come from the backside of the tree. She was carrying a basket with fresh mushrooms and berries. In her right hand, a rope of freshly caught fish and a fishing pole. When she seen Bowen, she gasped in surprise, she could not believe someone else was this far out. With her wolf being suppressed, she did not even know someone came up, man she hated that, but she was working on it.
Bowen Clingan: "I am sorry, I did not mean to startle you. May I ask your name?"
Tarai looked at him momentarily, assessing weather or not he was a threat. She could at least tell he was one of them. High end at that too. She shook her head lightly and slightly smiled at him and answered.
Tarai Bennion: "I am called Tarai Bennion."
Bowen Clingan: "You must be the one that other girl told me about. I made her leave my territory after she told me what she had done."
