"You'll be here forever~"
. . .
"Ugh..." My head really hurts.
When I opened my eyes, I noticed there was a huge hole, that seemed to go on forever, above me.
It was filled with crooked paintings, mirrors, floating chairs and teapots...? As I turned my head to the side there was a short narrow corridor with a tall imposing door at the end. The walls of the hallway were also lined with doors, all them where different colours and shapes. Sitting up, I noticed there was a book in my lap.
{ A Guide To Surviving Wonderland }
Wonderland? Surviving? What's going on? How did I get here? Standing up I brushed off my knees... what am I wearing? It was like a long blue skirt with a white apron, but it didn't feel like I was wearing two separate pieces of clothing. Am I wearing a dress? When I looked up there was a mirror in front of me, well multiple mirrors. Some where circular and some rectangular, but they were hanging on the wall a-lined like a full body mirror.
Holding the book, I walked over to the mirror. Ugh, my head feels heavy... am I hungover? Looking into the mirror, I turned slightly from side to side, moving the dress in the process. Huh? So I guess I am wearing a dress. What happened to my suit then? Moving closer to the mirror, I could clearly the bags under my eyes and how dry my lips were. I look terrible. After I looked down, I noticed in the mirror that my arms were covered in scratches and dried blood. What actually happened to me? Maybe this book, might have some answers...
I was about to sit on the floor, to read it before something caught my eye in the hallway. A table and chair had appeared, blocking a slanted white door. When I walked down the corridor, I noticed that there was writing on the floor.
"Wel ... come... to... Wond..er lan..d?" Welcome to wonderland?
Wait, Wonderland was mentioned on the book? As I sat down in the chair I assessed the front of the book.
{ A Guide To Surviving Wonderland }
{White rabbit: Hyayansaek ~---}
A guide to surviving- but doesn't that mean this place is dangerous? Also Hyayansaek..? What's a Korean word doing on this... but this does look familiar. Actually this whole book looks familiar.
Where have I seen this before?
Opening the book, the first thing noticed was that the first and second page had been ripped out. I could only guess that those pages explained the situation I was in right now. What fantastic luck I have. The third page however was blank. What if the first and second page were also blank? I continued to flick through the pages. The rest were blank or torn out. What? The more I flicked through the more I realized that there was nothing in the book. No matter how long I had been looking through the book, the amount of pages left stayed the same... I've never been getting close to the end. Maybe if I do this... instead of going forwards I started turn the the pages back.
After only four pages I reached the beginning.
{A Guide to Survive Wonderland}
The longer I looked at the cover the more I felt that this book was making me go round in circles. Ending up in the same place as I was before, only more confused.
This time, instead of opening the book from the beginning, I decided to open it from the middle.
"..."
No matter how hard I tried I couldn't open the book. This is going nowhere. I stopped trying to open it from the middle and went back to opening it from the beginning.
This time the book opened.
"..."
Wait.
What if none of this is happening and this is just a dream? Why did I just assume that I was somewhere else, and that what is happening to me right now isn't real? I was about to pinch myself to prove that this was some kind of twisted nightmare, before a sharp pain jolted me up from the chair.
"AHHH!"
Looking down at the seat, there were uneven rows of needle-like spikes that covered the seat. Ouch... that actually hurt... oh no. No, no. Oh god I'm not dreaming.
Then what actually is this place?
Huh? The colour of the door has changed. The door was now a deep blue, maybe I was seeing things, but the contrast in my memory from a white door to the colour it was now, I definitely knew that it had changed. Even the shape had changed. However, this time instead of facing the tall door at the end of the corridor, I was now facing the place I had come from.
"..."
I knew that I was panicking, but strangely enough something forced me to stay calm and as if someone else was moving my body I sat back down on the chair. What am I doing? Braceing myself for the needles, there was instead a soft sensation. Feeling underneath me, it felt... fluffy? Is it a pillow? I tried to get out of the chair to see what it was, but for some reason I couldn't get up.
Before I could think about this any further, what I had assumed to be a pillow under me, suddenly sunk. As it did so there was a loud squelching sound, which made my stomach turn.
Something trickled down my leg. Looking down at my legs, I could faintly see red lines travelling down my skin.
Whatever it was it had filled my shoes and over following onto the floor. What is this? As I leaned down to see what I was, the pool of the floor got bigger.
I felt something squirm underneath me.
Quickly, I tried again to get off the chair, but I still wouldn't budge. It was like I was glued to it.
The more I struggled the bigger the pool got.
By the time I had given up, it had reached my knees and was splashing in to my lap. My heart sunk into my stomach.
I didn't even feel it rising.
For some strange reason, I felt the need to hold onto the useless book. But as soon as I had the book in my hands, the seat began to squirm and move violently as if in protest of my actions.
A wave crashed into me, as the hallway began to fill up with this red liquid. Some of it got into my mouth. I spit it out but got more back in return. A metallic taste overcame my tongue. I don't know why is took me so long, but what I was drowning in was... blood.
The blood filled my mouth, ears and nose: it was suffocating. I didn't have time to hold my breath and I couldn't swim to the surface to save my life, because the chair still refused to let me go. I closed my eyes and prayed that I would survive. If there is a god, please let me live-
Yet I still held onto the book.
