Sam woke from something, but she was not sure of what exactly. She looked around and found a hand on her shoulder. She followed the path of the arm with her eyes and saw it was attached to a blushing young elven girl. Her blue eyes grew wide as she saw the woman sitting in the bed did not look like the one who went to sleep last night. She jumped back and shouted in alarm. The guards burst through the door ready to attack. Sam rolled her eyes and pulled the sheets over her. The guards shouted in a language she did not understand but she knew what they meant. She saw Elnor enter the room and sighed with relief. he looked at her for a while before waving his hand and dismissing his guards.
"So, this is your human form. You are not exactly what I was expecting, but I am not disappointed. Please get dressed my dear and I will have someone bring you to the dining hall, you must be starved. "
Sam nodded and waited for Elnor to leave the room. The young girl entered the room again and started speaking elvish. Sam shook her head and the girl stopped talking.
"Sorry....not know face," She said in broken English waving her hand in front of her face just to make sure she understood. Sam smiled and stood from the bed. She took the girl's hands in her own and nodded to her. The girl seemed to understand, and a dazzling smile crossed her face.
Sam was led to an exceptionally large bathroom. Half of the floor was a bath. It was more like a hot-tub and decorated with the most extravagant of statues. From half-naked women with only a small piece of cloth to cover the essentials to naked men holding women. She looked up and saw the ceiling was painted in beautiful blue and white.
The Girl started to undress her when Elnor burst into the room, a look of alarm on his face.
"War room!" That was all he said before rushing out. The girl pulled Sam from the room and pulled the dress from her body with a little too much force. She forced Sam into what looked like a gown and pulled her out of the room. Sam had to run to keep up with the girl. Suddenly she felt Lex and allowed her full control. When the girl looked back, she yelped and dropped Lex's hand. Lex stood in her half-human, half-wolf form. The gown was gone and replaced with a suit of armor that molded to her body.
Lex walked past the stunned girl and entered the War-room. The room was filled with many different creatures. Lords and ladies of all allied kingdoms stood around the large table and Elnor stood at the head of the table. He seemed to be trying to keep the order. Chaos filled the room with creatures roaring their strategies at each other, but non listened. Lex walked to the head of the table and gently placed her hand on a frustrated Elnor. He looked at her pleadingly and she nodded turning to the table and letting her powerful aura fill the room. One by one the Lords and Ladies stopped their shouting and looked towards the source of the power. Without having to say a single word Lex gained complete control of the room.
"Elnor, what is happening?" She asked looking at him. He cleared his throat and waved his hand over the table. A large map opened then turned into a holographic map. What she saw shocked her. Between two large mountains marched an army of extraordinary numbers.
"We have estimated around two hundred thousand wolves marching for the great valley. It seems they are being led by The Dark King, but there is another problem." Elnor moved the location of the map and Lex could see the city borders. Just a few hours march from the city she saw a smaller but still strong number of wolves marching for the city. "They are being led by the king's son, Matthew." Lex looked up at those surrounding the table.
"Lords and Ladies, it seems I must ask of you to assist me as well as yourselves today. I alone cannot fight at two different locations and my forces cannot be split in two. I need your assistance." No one spoke and Lex could see the fear in their eyes.
"You have fought in many battles before and have defended this great city for hundreds of years. I know this is a difficult decision to make but I ask of you, fight with me this day as we fight not only to protect this kingdom but also this realm. I have waited in the spirit realm for many years, but when I was finally united with my second half I found that I was alone. The Dark King had destroyed all that was once held sacred and now he wants to do the same to you. Let us fight today not only for our children but for those who come after them. Let us give them the future we could not have. You have sworn an oath to protect this realm against all evil, now is your time to prove your loyalty." Lex looked around the room with pride. "Join me, brothers and sisters. Let us defend our future."
The room filled with cheers and Elnor looked at Lex with wonder. Soon a strategy was planned out and all the forces started their march. Lex headed to the great valley along with the griffin, centaur, and lion shifters. Their numbers matched those of the Dark King, and the elf armies marched with many other creatures to the city borders. Large forces were dispatched to protect the surrounding towns and villages as well as the portals to the different realms. A large force stayed at the city to protect its citizens.
Lex could feel Sam's fear as they marched closer to the great valley. Be calm Sam, for we are stronger than you think. She could feel Sam calming down, but the fear remained.
Within a few hours, they reached the great valley. The Dark King stood at the tree line, his forces hidden within the trees, but Lex could smell the murderous intent in the air.
"So, this is the great She-Wolf that escaped so many years ago. Are you here to finally meet your fate?" The King growled laughing tauntingly at her. Lex growled at him.
"It seems you have mistaken exactly what my fate is, shall we settle this one on one, or will you be hiding behind your puppies forever"
The King roared out, darting forward with hundreds of his pack behind him.
"Archers at the ready. " A line of Centaur archers stepped forward aiming into the air. "Hold." Lex watched as the wolves dashed to the middle of the field. "Release!" Hundreds of flaming arrows zipped through the air. Some of the wolves were able to dodge them but many were hit. The King was lucky, still running full speed at Lex. Another mass of arrows was released as the second wave of wolves emerged from the trees. The remaining wolves of the first waves were covering ground faster.
"Lions!" Lex shouted. Hundreds of lion shifters darted from the trees heading for the first line of wolves as the archers shot at the second wave. More wolves started appearing from between the trees and the archers kept shooting. Lex ran forward, armed with a duel blade spear made from silver and laced with monkshood. Her mastery of the weapon was unmatched as she fought through the wolves, on her way to the king. She caught sight of the lion lord trapped underneath two rather large wolves and threw her spear at them following without a second thought. The spear pierced the first wolf and before he could hit the ground she pulled the spear from his side, spinning it behind her back and over her head before slicing at the second wolf, severing the head with one strike. The lion lord was back up and fighting alongside her.
Lex hears a wolf behind her just as she attacked another. She turned around just in time to see a griffin landing on top of it, tearing the leg from the body.
Her spear morphed into dual swords as she ran through the horde of fighting creatures. A wolf jumped at her, allowing her to completely dodge his attack and counterattack by digging both blades into his side. The body dropped to the side, but she did not wait to watch. She dashed forward trying to find the king and end this war once and for all.
Suddenly the tides turned as a mass of wolves emerged from all around them. They were outnumbered and their numbers were falling fast. Lex felt the fear radiate through her forces and started to get mad. She could feel the rage fill her very core and Sam doubled that anger with her own. Lex shifted into her full wolf form allowing her power to wash over the field and consume her enemies. She felt a rage she had never experienced. Her eyes sought and found their target. She lunged forward without hesitation. Her speed was greater than any and her strength outweighed even the great dragons. She ripped through groups of wolves tearing them apart and sending hundreds of wolves running for the woods. She felt the earth shake and turned toward the disturbance. Hellhounds appeared from between the trees charging at the wolves. They were led by her healed hell hound. The tables were once again turning, and they fought to keep it that way.
The King saw the horror and blood and fled for the woods with Lex hunting him. For a few seconds, Lex lost sight of the king as they entered the forest she stopped running trying to find his scent, but she was shocked to find a scent she had craved for so long. HE was here and looking for her. She shifted into her half-human form and started through the woods, following the scent. She came to a large tree, the roots protruding from the ground and covered with bright green moss. She walked around the tree and found HIM standing there. He was holding the king, in the air, by the throat. He was growling at him, his eyes black empty pools staring at the king.
"I told you if you harm her you are dead." He said his grip tightening around the king's throat. Lex felt the pull, the urge to be near him, to touch him.
Suddenly she felt a burning pain through her chest, it tore at her heart, breaking her apart. Looking down at her chest she saw the tip of her own spear dripping with golden blood, her blood. Looking up she saw Nick looking at her, horror and fear swirling in his dark eyes. He roared out and ran to her as she dropped to her knees, her hands clutching the spear.
"No, no, no, no, no. Please no. No!" He begged and shouted as he held her. The blood trickled from between her lips and down her chin. The king stood and laughed when he saw his son holding the she-wolf.
"Her fate has been written long before her birth." He said evilly, but his joy was short-lived. He felt excruciating pain shoot through every part of his body. He was lifted from the ground and flung against the large tree. He stood, shaking his head, and saw a dark figure looming over him. When his vision cleared, he froze in complete fear. Esree floated in front of him, her dark form taking complete control of her. She started whispering in a strange language and her eyes glowed green. He felt like every bone in his body was breaking slowly. He screamed out in pain, but his screams were cut off by the sound of choking. He stood unable to move, drowning in his own blood, bleeding too much to heal. Within minutes he was dead, and she turned her focus to the dark figure running into the woods.
He was but a few seconds from the tree line when Esree appeared in front of him.
"I should have killed you many years ago." She said to the sorcerer of The Dark King before plunging her hand into his chest and ripping out his heart.
"Please Sam come back to me. You cannot die!" Nick shouted at Lex. She smiled up at him and touched the side of his face, he leaned into her touch as tears streamed down his face. She could not speak, but she did not need to. The battle was over. The Dark King was defeated, and all realms were protected. She had done what she was meant to do now her life too must come to an end.
Esree knelt next to them and placed her hand on his. She wept quietly when she saw her daughter smiling at her mate.
"You have done well my dear." She said, her voice breaking as Lex closed her eyes.
