Let's meet

Chapter Five

The three months ultimatum Tunde's parent gave him is almost up, and he is yet to get himself a wife, he was running out of time and he knew it. Every effort to make his parents to change their mind has proved abortive. They are both hell bent on making him get married or lose his inheritance.

For the past one month, his friends has tried looking for a wife for him, but weren't making any headway.

''Omo, guy it seems you would have to just stick to your mother's choice o. I didn't know finding a wife was this hard'' Harry said after they had finished interviewing one of their supposed candidate who turned out to be beauty with no brains, the girl couldn't even pronounce champagne correctly.

''but guy, so you mean out of all your exes, there is no one you can choose to marry?'' Desmond asked Tunde.

''This guy has more of a one nightstand, than he has ever dated, I'm not sure he has ever dated any girl for up to three months, he is scared of commitment'' Ayo said laughing.

Tunde knew if it was left to him and his friends, he would never pick a wife. So decided to go with his mother's choice of a wife for him. ''mother, remember that lady you said you wanted me to marry?'' he asked as they sat down to have dinner in his parents' house.

''Yes, Sophia, what about her?''

''I would like to meet her, do you think you can give me her number?''

''Of course, I will give you her number right away, I knew it was just a matter of time before you came to your senses'' his mother spoke with so much joy in her voice.

''mother, let's not get ahead of ourselves I'm only going to set up a meeting with her and see how it goes''

''it will definitely go well my son, I assure you that you are going to like Sophia. Daddy Tunde, can you hear that? He wants to meet with Sophia''

''like the boy said, let us not get ahead of ourselves, so let's wait and see how this meeting goes, but remember son, you don't have all the time in the world'' his father warned calmly.

Tunde went back to his apartment that night, with the intention of calling Sophia the next day, and see if she would like to have lunch with him. But first, he decided to have a booty call come over.

Sophia was still sleeping the next morning, when she heard her phone ringing. She wasn't much of a morning person, so she usually doesn't get up from bed until about 8am, except for days when she has a meeting with a client. She placed her hands on her nightstand and picked up her phone.

"Hello?" she answered without looking at who was calling.

"Hi, good morning, am I speaking to Sophia?" Came a cool baritone voice. Sophia immediately sat up, using the back of her hands to wipe sleep off her eyes.

"Yes this is she, may I know who I'm speaking with?"

"Oh sorry my bad, my name is Tunde, Tunde Makinde. Sorry I called you this early but I was wondering if you would be available to have lunch with me?"

"And why would I do that?" Sophia asked in an acidic tone. The moment he said his name, she knew what the call was about; the marriage her mother was trying to force her into.

"Well.. because I have a proposal for you, something that will benefit your family and mine"

Sophia kept quiet as she thought carefully about what he just said, she knew she had to meet up with him and hear what he has to say, even if all she wanted to do right now, was to curse him and his family and end the call.

"Hello, are you there?" Tunde called out, when she didn't respond.

"Uhmm.. yeah, it's fine. Let's meet"

"Cool, when will be convenient for you?"

"How about 1pm this afternoon?" Sophia was planning on using the day to rest, as she wasn't working or having meeting with any of her client, but she might as well just use her free time in meeting with this guy, and hear what he has to say.

"Yeah this afternoon works for me, is Bukka's hut at Admiralty way close enough for you?"

"Yeah sure, see you then"

After the call, Tunde got dressed and left for work. When he got to the office, his personal assistant came into his office to tell him his itinerary for the day.

"You have a lunch meeting with your father by 1pm. Sir"

"Scratch that, I'm having a lunch date with someone else"

"Sir it's your father" his personal assistant said not looking quite sure with Tunde asking her to cancel a lunch meeting with the chairman of the company.

"Yes Comfort, cancel the the meeting with my father, tell him I can't meet with him because I'm meeting with Sophia, I'm sure he will understand'' going to lunch with Sophia, is the least thing Tunde wanted to do, but he knew he had to do it if he was to find a way out of this tight corner his parents has placed him.

By 12pm, Sophia was already prepared to leave the house. She was about stepping into her car, when her mother drove into the compound. Sophia cursed silently, wishing her mother had driven in when she was already gone.

"Sophie where are you headed?" Her mother asked as she got down from her car.

"I'm just stepping out mom"

"ehn...... dressed like that?" She asked as she looked Sophia over, who was putting on a pair of white jeans with a black bodycon sleeveless top which she tucked into the Jean along with an orange jacket which she paired with a matching heel pump.

"How do you mean mom? I'm just going to grab something from the supermarket"

"Since when did you start going to the supermarket putting on heels? Abi they hold fashion shows at the supermarket?"

"Mother, I can choose to dress to the supermarket however I want to, why are you home anyway? Aren't you supposed to be at the office?"

"I came back home to pick some documents, you still don't want to tell me where you are going abi?"

"Mum, I'm running late, bye" Sophia entered her car.

"Ha.. I have caught you, who runs late to the supermarket?"

Sophia smiled as she drove out of the compound. She knew if she told her mother about her date with Tunde, then her mother's hopes would be raised and she would think Sophia has finally succumbed, which was far from it.

When Tunde arrived the restaurant by few minutes to one, Sophia hasn't arrived there yet. So he decided to take a sit at the far end of the restaurant, where he can see her coming in. If any of the pictures his mother has sent him of her was anything to go by, then she was a pretty lady. But Tunde has learnt to never base his judgement on just pictures, because he has liked so many girls on Instagram only to meet them in physical and discovered they were a far cry from what they looked like in pictures.

He even went as far denying his own name when he met one of them who looked so ugly and unrecognizable in reality, when in her pictures she looked so beautiful. Thanks to snap chat and it's filters.

Tunde was sipping on a bottle of water, when Sophia walked in elegantly, with the gait of a model and an air of confidence. She was beautiful and she clearly knew it. The grace with which she carried herself was evident as every guy she passed by his table, couldn't resist turning back to stare.

"Hello, you must be Tunde" the words rolled off her tongue so smoothly as she stretched out her right hand to Tunde and she took off her sunglasses with her left hand.

Tunde rose up and shook her hand "yes I am, and you must be Sophia?"

"That's me" she said with pride.

"Well, do have a sit"

Sophia pulled out a chair, and sat down. "Before you say anything, I just want you to know I have no interest in marrying you"

"Neither do I"
