Chapter 7
I woke up from my peaceful slumber. Or I would've said if my alarm didn't irritate me. I'll sleep through it.

I guess I won't. My hand slapped my phone, fingers randomly pressing the screen hoping to shut it off without needing to do an extra movement.
"Ughhhhh." I moaned out of irritation and gave in. I propped myself up to sit on my bed. I slowly reached for my phone from my messy bedside table, unplugging the old charger. I hit the stop button and rested my back on the frame of my bed.
I let out a small tch. I need to check the weather then get ready for school. My slim hand reached for my phone. I simply opened the weather app.
"Wow '80-'90s today." I said unenthusiastically. It did seem it'll be a nice morning since it won't heat up until my lunch period. I hopped out of bed, quickly making it, sure to brush out any annoying wrinkles from the used sheets.
I still couldn't use my shower quite yet. The repairman was coming tomorrow since the police will be investigating the rest of the bathroom today. I sighed in frustration. Two days without a nice shower, I probably stink, and I feel dirty. I drooped after having that mental conversation. I settled on deodorant and perfume for today, quickly putting it on before moving into my closet for today's outfit. Today was going to be hot, so I need something light. I rummaged through my closet. A light blue top and a white pair of shorts.
I made my way to my kitchen for a quick meal. I pulled out some cereal I grabbed from the grocery store and some milk. I ate my small breakfast before heading out.

I made it a small distance before someone a bit taller than me waved in my direction. I looked around me. I was the only person on the sidewalk. The man approached me. His hair is on the lighter side of brown, eyes small but a light brown, his face just slightly round. He appeared to be the same age as mean. He looked young and his clothes were a dead giveaway. I examined his features again. He looked very attractive. This is the second attractive man I've encountered this year so far.
"Do you happen to be Amai Akira?" He asked.
I was startled by his voice. It was soft but still loud.
"Yea-a." I stuttered. Wait why the fuck did I say yes? This could be a psycho for all I know. How would he know my name? And how would he just happen to be close to my apartment? I internally panicked as I tried to keep a poker face.
"Oh did I startle you?" He looked at me apologetically. "I should've introduced myself first." He inhaled a deep breath. "I'm Haruto Riku, I'm an intern at the local police station."
"Uhm.." I stammered. "Nice to meet you." I said awkwardly. "Why are you here exactly?" I asked.
"I was sent to escort you to school since they lessened the cops around the area." He explained. "I was chosen since we go to the same school." He scratched his neck as he gave a slightly awkward smile.
Wow we go to the same school? Since when? Then it hit me. I haven't been in this new school for very long, nor have I paid attention to anyone outside of my classes.
"Oh neat." I replied. "What year are you in?" I asked.
"I'm in my senior year, planning to go to college." He replied. "Oh maybe we should start heading to school, it's still early. I would prefer to get there while it's still cool." He said as his mouth turned into a nice smile.

It felt like summer break even though it was still September. This was supposed to be the late week for warm weather. And I sure took my time to enjoy it.
Haruto and I engaged in small conversations. Haruto making a common joke or pun about the current topic. The sun's rays shone softly on our skin. The cool wind blowing through my untangled hair. As we approached the school the scent of freshly cut grass filled our noses. It was a relaxing walk, I nearly forgot that I had a rough week. The closer we got to the gate I recognized the reoccurring ravened hair guy that I've known to be Samuel.
We approached him. Samuel didn't give a smile until our eyes met. Samuel broke the eye contacted and looked at Haruto.
"And who might you be?" He asked.
"I'm Haruto, senior. You can call me Haru for short." He replied in an upbeat tone.
"I'm gonna head to my first period now." I turned to the school's doors. Samuel exchanged a cold glare with Haru. An unexpected chill ran up my spine. I looked back, nothing out of the ordinary. It was just Samuel and Haru looking at me.
"Hey wait Amai!" Haru suddenly broke the silence. "What class do you have first?" He asked, walking up towards me.
"I have my elective class first." I replied. Why would he ask?
"Oh cool!" Haru exclaimed. "I have my elective first period too! Wanna walk together since we're in the same hall?" He asked giving me a bright smile.
I swear, he was smiling so bright I could've gone blind. "Sure, let's go." I signaled with my hand. I walked forward and Haru followed by my side. I turned around again.
"Oh and I'll see ya later Samuel." I gave a small closed smile and waved.

Haru and I walked down the hall. We had a small conversation briefly explaining our electives.
Haru's elective was his internship at the local police station. Students could be in the class and learn about crime, then intern/volunteer at the station to assist the police with some tasks while also learning. I had no idea such an elective existed.
I was in a floral class. We learned how to arrange, care for, and studied bits of plants and flowers. It wasn't much but it was a nice class. It was the first class that gave me detention. They were going over rules for the first day. The teacher was nice but also strict. I fairly liked her.
We were by Haru's class now.
"Hey, do you have 5th-period lunch?" Haru whispered.
"Yea, why?" I whispered back.
"Meet me in front of the garden and we can eat together." He whispered back again before giving a small wave. He disappeared into his classroom. I shortly disappeared to mine.
I'm kind of excited for lunch now.
