"You're going out?" Zara asked Ayan.
"Hmm, I need to go out and hunt food for you, after all it's been a while since you've eaten anything right! Plus it's a males job to provide food and shelter for his female!" Ayan gloated.
Sigh, "That again? I haven't agreed to make a contract with you yet you know." Zara told Ayan.
"That's okay, once I bring you food you'll surely see how strong and reliable I am then you'll for sure make a contract with me tonight!" He said so assure of himself.
Just the thought of doing things like that made Zara's ears go hot.
"A contract with Ayan? That means we would have to do that! I'm only 17! I can't enter a contract with a guy I barely know! Not to mention he would probably expect her to produce children with him! I can't be a mom at 17!" Zara seemed to go dizzy with all these thoughts running through her head.
"Are you feeling okay?"
Zara looked up, there just two inches from her face stood Ayan, whose handsome face made such a worried expression for her.
BA-THUMP.
Zara's heart started to race with his face so close to her.
Pushing him away she said "I'm alright! Don't worry about me!"
"I see it's probably from the hunger, don't worry my female, I'll go out and hunt you a tasty deer!" And just with that Ayan sprinted out of the house.
"He's really going to be the end of me, isn't he?" Zara said to herself.
Zara looked around the small stone house, it was summer but with the sun going down it almost seemed windy inside.
"I need something to get a fire started, what can I use around here?"
Zara looked around and found some firewood, she also noticed something that looked like a flint. She could definitely start a fire with this! She may not seem like it but Zara was an athletic girl who often went on camping trips back home.
"Seems like I'll finally be able to put some of these skills to use huh?" Zara chuckled to herself, she never thought she'd use her outdoor skills inside!
A couple of hours later Ayan returned with a medium sized deer, just as he promised.
"My female look what I've hunted for you..." Ayan looked surprised at the fire that Zara had already started.
"Whaaa, I'm supposed to do things like that! Otherwise how will you be able to see how useful I can be to you?" Ayan cried out.
"I thought you would be excited that I started a fire on my own, and besides you're plenty reliable, look at that deer that you've brought me!" Zara told Ayan.
Ayan cheered up a little bit at the sound of Zara praising him for having caught her dinner.
"I also brought some herbs and some salt for you to try with the meat!" Ayan told Zara.
"Wow you really did! Although if I'm being honest cooking has never been my strong suit.." Zara said embarrassed.
"That's okay, why would you cook?" Ayan said confused. "I'll be doing the roasting."
Wow it seemed like the women of this world really had it easy, was the bar so low for women here?
"That was delicious! After having not eaten for so long, that deer was the tastiest thing I've ever eaten!" Zara said while full and content.
"Thank you for the meal."
"Why are you thanking me? It's my duty as your male to do these things for you." Ayan told Zara.
There he goes again, if Zara had met him under different circumstances would she have fallen for him? Ayan may have seemed like an idiot at times but he really did seem to care for Zara.
"Maybe a husband wouldn't be so bad after all." Zara said out loud.
"Husband? What's that?" Ayan asked.
"Huh. Huh?! Did I really say that out loud?! It's nothing, I'm just babbling to myself really!" Zara said shaken up.
"Anyway, it's getting late, good night!" Zara said frazzled. And just like that she hid under the blanket.
"Not today either I guess," Ayan thought to himself, "That's okay, I'll just have to try harder tomorrow!"
