Maxim

"You should know that it won't matter," I smirk and Maxim runs towards me as I run towards him. Our swords clash, I use one sword to attack and the other to defend myself, I manage to cut him a few times before he falls to the ground. In a blink of an eye, he disappears and the figure from earlier shows up. I look around but don't see him. The figure doesn't move from its spot, I take a step forward and the figure moves back.

I throw one of my swords at the figure and it moves, I run to it but every time I take a step the figure moves away from me. I reach my sword and throw it again and miss. I run to get my sword and once I do the figure disappears. "You're slow for a goddess. It's a shame I was hoping we could play tag a bit longer."

I quickly look around for Keera hoping she didn't hear anything he said, I see her at the stables and realize I was being led away from her. "Stay there!" I shout and she nods. "Who are you and how do you know me?"

"Oh, yes right I was told you wouldn't be smart enough to recognize me. I am an old friend of yours from way back when we were little. I would visit you in the dungeons; your mom would sneak me in through the passage. I'm from the demon race, as much as I would love for our reunion to be a happy one…:" He looks down and clutches his sword. "My boss wants to know the truth about you and to be honest I do as well, those that are sick are either human or gods. They'll all die."

"Wait…we knew each other?" He looks at me with sad eyes and suddenly I feel light-headed, I grab my head as I close my eyes, it feels like I'm being spun around. After a few moments, I hear footsteps and voices. I open my eyes and see that it's dark, I look around and see a light, I walk towards it and notice that I'm in a cell.

"I told you, you were going to recover more memories." I turn around and see the spirit; she smiles at me before bowing. "Your highness."

"Spirit, what is this?"

"It's a fragment of memory; one of Maxims visits with you. Your mother was kind and caring, she tried her best to take care of those she could, and she was friends with those from the demon and human race. You had some friends as well, but as you know the war happened and a lot changed."

There's a smaller version of me standing at the door and I can hear a kid's voice coming from the other side. "Skye! Are you okay, I miss you." It's a boy, is that..?

"Maxim?"

"Yes, your mother was friends with his parents and was aware of the situation, his family supported you and your mother."

"So, then why is he trying to kill those around me, why was he fighting me?"

"I'm not sure, a lot has happened since then." I pay attention to the scene in front of me.

"I miss you too Max."

"Soon we'll be able to see each other and we can plan our life together, your mom said I have to go through, bye Skye."

I hear footsteps recede and the younger version of me stands at the door a hand pressed against it, she falls to the ground crying. The area changes and were at a house, Maxim, my mother, and two other people are all sitting on the couch silent. Finally, my mother speaks up. "It's so sad to hear those two talk to each other, they've never seen each other and they barely have time to talk."

"Is she going to be okay?" Maxim looks up at my mother with sad eyes.

"Yes, we're going to get her out eventually."

"Really?" He jumps up and smiles wide. "We can be together then?"

My mother lets out a small laugh. "Puppy love, isn't it adorable?" She looks at the other two people and they smile and nod.

The scene changes again and I'm in front of the volcano. "He loved me?"

The spirit stands in front of me. "Yes, he adored you, loved you, worshiped you, to him you were the most important person in his life. I don't know what changed, I can't say. I'm not sure if his feelings have changed or not, keep in mind that it was hundreds of years ago."

"I understand."

"Skye, talk to him. Try and get him on your side, he may be a demon but he's very powerful. His family was one of the first demon clans, if it wasn't for the king his family would rule over Hell."

"I need him to help me then. If I touch him can you show him my memories, that way he'll believe everything I say?"

"Yes, but you may lose consciousness I'll be picking at your mind and showing it to his within a matter of seconds."

"That's fine."

I jump up panting and look around, I'm back in the village, and Keera is hovering over me looking worried. "Keera are you okay?" She nods. "Where did the man go?" She points to one of the buildings and I can see him leaning against it looking down at the ground. "Thank you, you can go back to the horse now, I won't be long." She nods as she gets up and goes to the horse. I get up and walk over to Maxim.

"Are you okay?"

I smile at him. "My enemy is asking if I'm okay?"

He scoffs before turning away from me. "Yeah only because we have a fight to finish."

"No, we don't."

He looks at me confused. "What do you mean? I'm not letting you leave."

"I'm not going to fight you, Max. You would come to visit me when I was in the dungeons, you loved me, and I was the most important person in your life. Now, you want to fight me? What happened?"

"Everyone thought you died my parents and those that supported you and your mom. No one could find you, and your mom died before we could ask her what happened. I did love you, but that was a long time ago and things have changed."

"Help me." I grab his hands and within a matter of seconds, I relive all the memories I've gained. I move away from Max and he looks at me.

"What was that?"

"Those are the memories I've regained, everything you saw and heard is what happened. I need your help stopping Mika and Luca before they start another war."

He's quiet for a moment. "I can't, I already told you things have changed."

"This isn't about the past, this is about the future. They've already tried to take one of the artifacts to awaken my grandfather; there are people on guard watching the artifacts as we speak."

"I already told you I can't." He walks away from me then looks back at me. "I'll let you go this time for old times' sake, but if you try to stop my partner or me from our mission…" He disappears and a few moments later the figure appears and starts going to one of the entrances of the village.

I go back to Keera and she looks at me with happiness. "You're okay."

I smile at her and help her on the horse. "Yep, let's continue our mission before it's too late." She nods as I get on my horse, we start going back to her village, the sun setting and flurries of snow landing on us.
