Classification

"If a man thinks he is not conceited, he is very conceited indeed."

― C.S. Lewis

(Freya)

Ugh Tyler Barns was the first to be touched by the witch, he made a great show of receiving his classification, literally forcing his body to spasm. When Rachel withdrew the hand that rested lightly upon his forehead, she raised it to the sky, and announced, "Alpha" to the moon. There were rowdy groups of cheers from his posse and some claps from the pack that surrounded them. Great, just what he needed, an even larger ego to go with his already enormous head. Freya thought to herself, silently rolling her eyes, Sam caught her look and gave a quiet laugh. This Ceremony was already off to a bad start, a large part of her had wished that Tyler would have been made a Delta, just so he would have just enough power to be useful but not enough to ever think he could be in control. Of course, as fate had it, nothing ever went the way she wanted it to go. Tyler Barns being an Alpha would just cause him to be even more annoying in school than he already was.

The other part to that would be the question on if Tyler thought that he would be able to challenge Zander for the position of Alpha over the pack? Knowing Tyler, he most definitely would but Zander was a force to be reckoned with in his own rite. Zander had the favor of being born into a lineage of two Alpha parents that were soul bound. Their mating was not of convenience but of a deep-seated connection, which provided Zander with not only Alpha blood but the purest of all Alpha bloods. Taking on an opponent of that magnitude would be suicidal, but this was Tyler they were talking about, he was about as ignorant as they came. The possibility of Tyler challenging Zander kind of made her excited, she did not want to see anyone seriously hurt but the idea that Zander might give Tyler an ass whooping of a lifetime made her light up inside. Nothing like thinking of your bully getting bullied to put a smile on one's face. So engrossed in her negative thinking, she had not realized that the Witch Rachel was already coming towards the end of the line. Samantha was next to receive her classification.

Watching her best friend on one of the most important days of their lives, Freya was overcome with a sense of pride for Sam. They had shared every experience in life together, when they had their first crushes together, their periods, the day that Sam had her first kiss, and last year when she had her first time with Joe Posey in the backseat of his dads Cadillac. Their friendship was one that would be forever, they had been through so much together, and this was just another thing they could add to their growing list. Samantha's eyes scrunched up with intense emotion as Rachel placed her palm against Sam's forehead. The moment seemed to drag on forever, or Freya was just getting impatient for her turn that it made it seem that way. Taking away her hand, Rachel raised her hand to the sky, "Alpha." She announced loudly for the entire pack to hear. There was a rush of commotion around the people and Freya felt her mouth drop in surprise. Her best friend was an Alpha female! There had not been an Alpha female in the pack since Zander's own mother. A little slither of envy wove its way around her heart, but Freya fought against it, she wanted to be happy for her friend, Sam deserved this.

As Rachel moved to stand in front of her, Freya closed her eyes, her heart beating wildly in her chest. All her thoughts suddenly went to her Father, how she wished that he could be here to see this moment in her life. Victor Summers would have been so proud of his daughter, he used to sit her on his lap, and tell her of all the adventures they would have once she could shift. A small tear escaped at the thought of her deceased father and she startled when Rachel wiped it away. "Do you not fret my dear child, your father is here," she put her palm to Freya's chest, "inside you, always." She stated. Freya was at loss for words but gave a little nod, before Rachels hand went to her forehead. The moment that she had been waiting for her entire life was finally happening. The cool press of the witches' palm in contrast to Freya's warm forehead was almost relaxing. It started in the rise of her pulse, the slightly rush of blood in her veins, her wolf was rising to the surface. Freya's heart beat wildly against her rib cage, feeling the presence of her wolf was a moment that she would never forget. Just as soon as it started, it stopped, the rush of adrenaline she had felt retreated. The hollow emptiness of something missing came to rest heavy against her bones and Freya opened her eyes to find that Rachel was staring at her with the weirdest expression. What in the world had happened? Was that it, that was what all the anticipation was over? Confusion set in, that could not be it, Freya felt no different than she had before. Rachel's long finger pointed to the sky but instead of her proclamation being a shout for everyone to hear, it came out as a mere whisper against the nighttime air. "Omega."

All the wind left Freya's lungs as she stood there in front of so many of her people, all who had grown silent at Rachel's statement. Freya still could not connect the words, everything seemed jumbled in her head, floating around lost. Omega? Freya was an Omega? Never had she even seen an Omega; she had not even realized that being an Omega was actually an option. What did that even mean? So many questions bounced around the inside of her mind, she was going to faint, she had forgotten to breath this entire time and she was slowly loosing oxygen to her brain. Sam's hand reached out and latched on to hers, holding her steady, and Freya sucked in as much air as she could gather through her mouth.
