Chapter 1

"I hate school..." Lily said, getting off the bus. It was the first day back to school, and she and her twin brother were starting at sixth form.

"Stop complaining, it's not that bad," Lincoln, her brother, said.

"I mean, what's the point of it?" She continued.

"You mean, other than to educate us, get us into uni, and then get us a job, so we can have a bright future?" Lincoln asked.

"Yeah, other than that," Lily said, and Lincoln laughed. "You're such an idiot..."

"Yeah, but I'm a funny idiot, so I'm alright," Lincoln said.

"You're a cocky, funny idiot," Lily said.

"Yep," he said. "Better than being insecure about myself,"

"Shut up," Lily said, knowing he was talking about her.

"I'm only joking," Lincoln said, as they turned into the school gates of Phoenix High School.

"Ugh... I hate school..." Lily said, once again.

"Yes, you have mentioned," Lincoln said.

"It's all right for you, you're doing art, music, and drama. You don't have to do any work, pretty much,"

"Firstly, that is not true, Lily, and you know it; secondly, you're doing art and music as well; and thirdly, you chose to do English, so don't come crying to me," Lincoln said, and Lily groaned, knowing he was right. Just then she came in contact with someone.

"Shit, sorry," Lily said, and Lincoln tried not to laugh.

"Hey, watch your language," the person said. Lily looked up, to see the most amazing blue eyes she's ever seen. She moved away from the eyes, to see a man, around 6', with brown hair, bleached at the top. He had some stubble, but well-groomed, not as if he had just forgotten to shave that morning. He was wearing grey trousers, a white shirt, and a navy jumper over the top.

"Sorry, I meant to just say sorry..." Lily said, unable to look him in his eyes, fearing she would never be able to look away. The man smiled, and Lily could barely contain herself.

"No problem," he said. "Uh, could you show me how to get to... C7?" He asked, checking a timetable. "Sorry, I'm new here," he said. Lily laughed.

"Yeah, of course," she said. "Linc, I'll meet you later,"

"Yeah, sure," Lincoln said, going off.

"Where did you say? C7?" Lily asked. The man checked.

"Yeah," he said.

"Cool, it's just up here," Lily said. He followed her. "Here we are," She said.

"Amazing, thank you," the man said. "I'll see you around," he said.

"Yeah," Lily said. She was certain of that. She went off to find Lincoln.

PERIOD 2

"I'll see you after English," Lily said.

"Yeah, meet me on the bench outside," Lincoln said.

"Yeah, sure," Lily said. She went to her classroom - C7. She chuckled slightly, as this where she showed that man to, before. She sat down on one of the free desks. It happened to be near the teacher's desk, as no one wanted to sit there.

"Right, hello, I am your new teacher... I'm not entirely sure what to say... er... oh yeah, my name, sorry, my name is Mr Harrison. I'll be replacing... Mrs Hampfred, since she retired..." he said. Lily looked up and was greeted by those amazing blue eyes from before. She swore under her breath, knowing she had developed a slight crush on him earlier, and now he was her teacher for the year. Mr Harrison scanned the room, taking in everyone's faces. He smiled slightly, seeing Lily, and she felt herself starting to blush. "Can I have a volunteer to hand the books out?" He asked. Quite a few of the girls put their hand up, who obviously found him attractive and were trying to suck up to him. "Right, yeah, could you do it?" He asked, handing the books to one of the girls. "When you get your book, start reading the first chapter," Mr Harrison sat down at his desk. "Hello again," he said to Lily.

"Hey," Lily said. To be honest, she should have realised he was in his twenties, and so was a teacher, when she encountered him before. She probably wouldn't have got herself into this situation. However, deep down she had probably already known he was a teacher and chosen to ignore it.

"Thanks for showing me here this morning, it saved me quite a bit of time that I would have spent trying to find it," he said.

"No problem," Lily said. Mr Harrison smiled. He took his blazer off and took his phone out of his trouser pocket.

"You shouldn't keep your phone there," Lily found slipping out of her mouth.

"How come?" He asked.

"It's bad for... you know..." she said.

"No, I don't, please explain?" He asked. Lily knew he was just trying to get her to say it.

"Your genitals..." she muttered.

"Sorry, what was that...?" He asked, putting his hand to his ear, teasing her.

"You heard what I said," Lily said, turning bright red. Mr Harrison smiled.

"Yeah, I did... and thanks for caring so much about such an intimate area of mine," he said, with a smirk. The girl handing the books out, Isabella, lingered as she handed Lily the book, purely so she could be around Mr Harrison.

"Yes?" Lily said.

"Nothing, virgin," Isabella replied.

"Hey, hold up. Right, there is no need to shame people on their sexual experience. Now, I'm not sure if..." Mr Harrison said, indicating for Lily to say her name.

"Lily..." Lily muttered.

"... Lily, is a virgin or not because it is none of my business and none of yours. However, I can tell you, that waiting a few years, is a lot better than having sex on your sixteenth birthday, or even before," Mr Harrison continued. "And aside from all that, name-calling is not appropriate, nor tolerated in my classroom. So, now you've finished handing the books out, you can sit down, read the first chapter, and only talk if I ask you to," he said. Isabella gave Lily a sour look and sulked back to her seat.

"Thanks..." Lily said, embarrassed and bright red.

"Any time," he said. "I can't stand people making fun of others because of something like that,"

"She's going to destroy me at lunch..." Lily said.

"You could always come and eat in here if you want to keep a low profile," Mr Harrison said.

"I don't want to disturb you," Lily said.

"No, don't be silly, I've got nothing important to do," he said.

"Okay, then, if that's alright," Lily said.

"Yeah, of course," he said. "Your boyfriend came come too if he wants,"

"Huh? My boyfriend?" She asked.

"That guy you were with earlier," Mr Harrison said.

"Oh, no, he's my brother," Lily said, laughing.

"Oh, right, sorry," Mr Harrison said, also laughing. "He can come if he wants,"

"No, he'll probably want to catch up with some of his mates,"

"Ah, okay," Mr Harrison said. Lily started reading the book.
