Her (Prologue)

A girl stood among the stars. Her sky-blue pigtails blew in an imaginary wind.

"Just a bit longer, and that branch will collapse. This is so exciting!"

"Exciting?" a male voice asked from behind her.

She spun to see a young man -- how young, she could hardly guess, but older than she appeared -- standing with her amongst the stars.

"How'd you get here? How are you still here?"

He shrugged. "I walked. And when I didn't have the energy to walk anymore, I found myself walking among the stars."

He did seem somewhat athletic.

"Is that so... Well, would you like to play a game with me?" she bounced on the balls of her feet, disregarding the fact that there was no ground to bounce off of.

He looked away. "No. Not after what I have done. I'm cursed."

Her innocent, happy girl facade disappeared. "You think so?"

"I have no reason to say any other way. I made mistakes, and I ended up here."

The girl smirked. "And here I was about to make you a god. Too bad you told me no."

"Who are you to make gods?"

"The goddess of a dozen worlds. And you have just ticked me off."

She paused for dramatic effect.

"Now I'll show you what it really means to be cursed."
