'Distractingly Pretty'

On the dinner table, I clattered with the fork and spoon on the plate, scarcely eating any of the food. This sudden loss of appetite didn't make any sense to me, and the way I found myself smiling unconsciously while thinking about him, was more unusual.

The moment I met Mom's sceptic eyes, I had a feeling that I was exposed. "Did something good happen?" She inquired.

I swallowed. "That..." She passed me a glass and I began gulping down the water. Would she let me date him knowing I can't hear his thoughts?

"Is it about Tyler?" She smiled and I choked, coughing.

"How did you know?" I gasped.

"Your behaviour, Linnet, it's written right on your face." She grinned.

"I'm going out with Tyler, are... you okay with it?" I asked anxiously.
