Chapter Thirteen
Still sitted in the car, we pulled over as we arrived on campus.
"Can I come with?" Clara asked Diego.
"No need babe, I'll see you" Diego replied.
"Okay then, stay safe, love you" Clara said to him.
"Love you too" Diego replied.
I came down from the car with August as Axel left the back seat and went to the front seat.
"Make sure you come back early" August said to them.
August and Axel smiled at each other.
"Love you bro" August uttered.
"No homo" August said as Axel laughed.
"Love you too bro, no homo" Axel replied.
Diego drove off.
"It's gonna be okay brother" Diego assured Axel who stared at him for a while before turning to the side.
At Axel's neighborhood
Axel and Diego drove towards their home when they pulled over, side to side with Salvador's car.
"Yo Gracia" Salvador uttered, calling Diego's attention.
"Qué estás haciendo aquí" Diego asked Salvador.
"Just decided to drop by, I see you're back home" Salvador replied. "We don't have time for this Diego" Axel Uttered.
"No necesitas actuar de esta manera hermano, hablemos" Salvador said.
"We don't have anything to talk about Salva, Ahora vete" Axel replied.
"Alright, Alright, me iré pero volveré" Salvador replied then drove off.
Diego drove towards the family house.
"Abuela" Axel uttered as he opened the door and saw his grandmother.
"Ah! Mi Hijo, how are you?" Abuela asked.
"I'm alright" he replied.
"Mama!" Diego hugged his mother.
"What are you guys doing here?" Mauricio, Diego's brother asked.
"Juan José called, he said he needs us to come home" Diego explained.
"I called because Salvador came by" Juan José, Diego's other brother uttered, walking into the living room.
"We saw him" Axel said.
"What did he want?" Diego asked. "Let me make you two some food to eat" Diego's mother said, walking towards the kitchen.
"He came to ask if one of his boys delivered" Juan José replied Diego.
"You know we're not meant to associate in any way with Salvador and those mafias" Axel uttered.
"Don't bother yourself, if anything happens, we'll take care of it" Mauricio replied.
"Something came up at school" Diego said.
"What? What happened?" Abuela asked.
"Mama" Axel called out. "I'm a mess mama" he said.
"What happened mi hijo" his mother asked.
"Some girl at school accused him of assault" Diego explained.
"I didn't do it" Axel uttered.
"We know you're not capable of doing such Axel, you barely even talk to people asides Diego and August" Juan José said.
"Why would she falsely accuse him though?" Mauricio asked.
"It's really complicated and stupid" Diego replied.
"What can be so complicated that she accused you mi hijo" Axel's mother asked.
"That girl, she has feelings for me but I don't, so she threatened to basically ruin my life" Axel said.
"Don't worry about it, hemos hablado con in abogado" he continued.
"¿un abogado?" His mother said.
"Axel" she exclaimed.
"That's so terrifying mi hijo" Abuela said.
"Is she white? Cause white girls always do things like this" Mauricio asked.
"Yeah she's white" Diego replied.
"Then you're in big trouble hermano" Mauricio said to Axel.
"If she's determined to ruin your life hermano, even your lawyer can't stop her" Juan Jose said.
"Remember my friend, Christian? Remember why he went to prison? Because of a damn white girl, you need to be careful brother" Mauricio uttered.
"All this is so exhausting you know" Axel said before taking a deep breathe.
"Here you go" Diego's mother handed them a plate of burritos each.
"Thanks mama" Diego said.
"So, who gave you the money for the lawyer?" Axel's mother asked.
"A friend helped us out" Diego said.
"What friend?" Juan José asked.
"Her name is Stella, she helped us get a lawyer, she's a family friend to the lawyer so they didn't charge us any money" Axel explained.
"Okay, please be careful mi amor" Axel's mother said to him.
"Should we handle it? In case the lawyer doesn't do his or her job properly" Juan José asked.
"We don't need you to make things worse Juan José, once we get the statement from the lawyer, we'll know what to do" Diego said.
"Call us if you need our help" Mauricio said.
"Thanks brother" Axel replied.
"By the way, how are you all?" Axel asked.
"We are okay" Diego's mother replied.
"Your fathers went to work" Axel's mother uttered.
"What about Swetlana?" Diego asked.
"She followed them" Abuela replied.
"Camila?" Axel asked.
"I was hoping to see Camila" he continued.
"She has been desperate to see you Axel, maybe when she comes home, during the weekend, she could come stay with you on campus" Axel's mother replied.
"Mama, these burritos are so good" Diego said.
"I packed a few for you two" his mother smiled.
"Thank you so much aunt" Axel replied.
Juan José stood up, "right now, it's either you follow us or wait for Camila or head back to school" he said.
"Should we wait for Camila?" Diego asked Axel.
"Nah, let's go with them" Axel replied.
"Okay" Diego said.
Axel, Diego, Mauricio and Juan José stepped out of the house.
"See you Abuela" Axel said.
"We are we off to?" Diego asked his brothers.
"You brought your car?" Mauricio asked,hitting the car. "As you can see" Diego replied.
"We'll take mine" Juan José uttered.
"Alright!" Mauricio exclaimed.
"Let's go downtown, there are some pretty good taco shops we could visit" Juan José insisted.
"I'm down for some taco" Axel said as he entered the car.
"I'm down too" Diego said.
The car drove off.
"That's true, what about Clara?" Mauricio asked, turning back to face Diego.
"Clara is okay" Diego replied.
"Why didn't you come with her?" Mauricio asked.
"Remember i got a call from Juan José, I definitely can't bring Clara here" Diego replied.
"Clara left this neighborhood a long time ago, this isn't a place for people like her Mauricio" Juan José said.
"Doesn't matter, you should bring her for dinner some day, mama keeps asking about her" Mauricio said.
"No problem then" Diego replied.
"Axel still doesn't have a girlfriend?" Mauricio uttered smiling.
"With all this happening, I definitely can't have a girlfriend" Axel replied.
"You know, there are tons of pretty girls in UCLA, you should pick one after this whole drama" Mauricio said.
"You're saying it as if it's so easy" Axel laughed.
"Don't mind him" Diego laughed.
"I'm really exhausted" Axel uttered, lowering his body in the car.
He closed his eyes a little.
"It will all pass brother" Juan José assured.
"Hopefully brother" Axel replied,closing his eyes shut as the breeze blowing passed through his dashing curly hair.
Perfect scene.
