Chapter 3

-Skyler-

“Why hasn’t she shifted back? The wolfsbane should have automatically triggered a shift."

Who was talking, and why so fucking loud?

“I don’t know! I’m not really an expert on this. We should just wait for Alpha Ambrose and Beta Jason to come. They’ll know more. It’s just a shame the funeral had to be postponed, the pack really needed to grieve in that way. You know, officially say goodbye.” A deep voice uttered.

I opened my eyes, much to my body’s protest and focused in my surroundings instead of the things I was hearing. All I could see was white. White walls, a white ceiling and a white door. The wall looked to be steel, galvanised and painted. I could see it was wolf-proof. Might as well get up and face whatever is going to happen to me head-on. To my surprise, I was still in wolf form.

And chained to the floor, apparently.

A thick brass chain imbedded in the floor wrapped around all four of my legs separately, along with a muzzle around my snout. A muzzle? I’ve been treated like a common mutt! I let out a growl, which caused the voices outside the door to cut off abruptly. “She’s awake!” A panic filled voice whispered. These two clearly were having a hard time. “Fuck! Where is the Alpha? He should really be the first one to go in."

I decided to bide my time, to think about an escape route. I really did not have the luxury of being scared right now. I needed to focus. I need to think of a plan, and fast, before this Alpha and his Beta showed up. With the wolfsbane still coursing through my system, fighting my way out was out of the question.

Just when I started to formulate a plan, I heard heavy footsteps approaching quickly. “Alpha, Beta, she's in there.”

“This better be good, Seth. I really don’t want to postpone the funeral any longer than I have to, definitely not for some stupid rogue." Ouch. That stung a little. I definitely wasn’t stupid, and I knew once he saw my wolf his tune would change. I was the last silver wolf after all. I was just really anxious as to what he would do once he saw that. Kill me? Keep me as a trophy? I could only guess. Letting me go was probably out of the question.

“All right then, open the door.” The Alpha said with somewhat of an irritated tone. God, today may just be my last.

As the door opened, I could hear an audible gasp, which just made a low growl erupt through my whole body. Not from anger, but something else.

No.

Fucking no way in hell. My wolf had to be mistaken. This couldn’t be happening. I smelt the most intoxicating sent, filling my whole body and making me whimper. I smelt the woods, fresh dirt after the rain, the first blooming flowers of spring mixed with the scent of a freshwater stream. I inhaled deeply, breathing in the heavenly scent of my mate. My wolf couldn’t help but utter a whimper of longing to be near him. I could feel my heat, amd I'm sure they could all smell it too. I wanted to jump his bones then and there and I haven't even laid eyes on him yet. Turning to face the door, I looked at him. Starting at his feet, all the way to where his eyes were trained on me.

His eyes widened in a mixture of shock and surprise, his grey eyes turning darker by the second, probably with lust and anger seeing his mate like this. I could tell his wolf was close to taking over. After I regained my composure slightly, I got a chance to really look at him. He had an angular face, well defined jawline and he was like 6 feet tall. Maybe taller. He remained me of the greek god Hercules. He clearly had a set or rock hard abs with huge biceps and defined legs. That was about all I could make out through his jeans and v-neck t-shirt.

Most intriguing, though, were his eyes. The stared into my soul. Grey and piercing, clouded with emotions. He let out a low growl. I could sense his wolf knew I was his mate. "Why, in fuck's name, is my mate chained to the floor!?" He spit out each word, getting louder and angrier with each syllable. I could smell his dominance all the way here. I could also feel my core heating up at the sight of him seething. His Beta, stunned, started to mumble out rushed apologies about not knowing, etc. His eyes never left mine as he started walking closer to me. Inch by inch, my wolf was becoming restless to be marked and mounted by her mate. She needed to back off though. He was an Alpha and they cannot be trusted. I don’t want an Alpha mate, to be tied down and controlled. Used to breed and then disgarded when he gets bored. This horny bitch needs to chill the fuck out.

“Unchain her! Right the fuck now!” The Alpha yelled. His men were hesitant. “Alpha, are you sure-"

“Now!” He screamed, eyes turning even darker than I could have imagined. From a cloudy sky before it rains to a raging hailstorm. No matter how hot he was-I will not be his damn mate. That much I’ve already decided.

As his men moved to unchain me, I let out the loudest growl I could with this stupid muzzle on and being as weak as a newborn pup. His Beta, who I assume was Jason, unlocked the lock that kept the chains around my legs together. In one swift movement, with my legs now free, I used my claws to rip up the stupid restricting muzzle and threw it off of my face. All while this was happening, the Alpha just stared at me, coming closer ever so slowly. When he was about two meters away from me, I shot back to the corner of the cell, letting a deep growl escape my lips. My wolf whined at the idea of growling at her mate, but she needs to understand we couldn’t actually stay with this monster. Bitch just wants to fuck.

“Mate, shift. Now.” He commanded, looking straight into my eyes. Like hell I would. He probably saw that there was no way in hell that that was happening. “Everybody, get out! Leave us!” As all his men almost fell over each other to leave, closing the door behind them, we were alone.

Like hell. I’m strongest as a wolf. No way was he already bossing me around! Fuck this dude. Who does the think he is?

“I will not ask again, mate. Shift immediately."

I let out a deep growl once more. He needed to understand this wasn’t happening. He finally came face to face with me and in less than 2 seconds he shifted to his wolf form. Midnight black. So black he was almost blue. His eyes remained their ash grey colour, though. I hardly heard his clothes rip but I could see they were on the floor. My wolf took my moment of surprise as a chance to take control and she submitted, showing her neck. Traitorous bitch. Immediately he commanded me to shift, and as soon as I did he did as well. I was back in human form, my knees buckled and the ground started coming closer alarmingly fast.

The last thing I remember was him scrambling to catch me as I was engulfed in darkness.
