-Skyler-
My jaw hit the floor. This earned another chuckle from him. “See you later, mate.” He turned and left through the same door he came in, clearly locking the door with the sound of a bolt or a lock of sorts clicking shut. Great. Just fucking great. The Alpha of the Silver Wolf pack has always been known to be vicious. I just hoped that that behaviour didn’t extend to his mate, as I clearly wasn’t escaping anytime soon.
Before I could think any more of the matter, a soft knock at the door drew my attention. A young girl came in, looking about twenty years old. “Luna,” she greeted with a bow, wearing a grey floor-length dress, baggy and plain but neat. She had her hair in a tight bun. Her face looked reminded me of a doe; sharp nose, big brown eyes and a slim mouth. She was pretty, in a childish dort of way.
This is suspicious. “Who are you?”
“My name is Catherine, but most people call me Cate. I am your servant Luna, anything you need I will procure for you. Just not the key to that cuff, I’m afraid,” she said with a little laugh. Why was she laughing? Was this funny? What the fuck?
My glare immediately silenced her. “Here are some clothes, and the bathroom is the door closest to the balcony. I would refrain from opening them for now.” She gestured like it was her job. “You wouldn’t want to angry the Alpha. When you are done, I will have some food waiting for you on the table and then you can eat. Is there anything else I can get you, Luna?” She asked, awaiting my answer with a very innocent smile.
“Except my freedom? Nothing else, but thanks. Can you just get a clock or a watch of some sort for me? I need to know the time.”
“Yes Luna. Right away. She turned around with a quick bow and scurried from the room, locking the door behind her.
“Oh my god.”
Fuck my life. Since I had nothing else to do, I decided a shower wouldn’t be horrible. Climbing out of bed, I realised the chain was much longer than I realised. Walking toward the bathroom door, I found that the carpet was luxuriously soft. Opening the door, this whole shit show temporarily slipped my mind. It was gorgeous. To my right, floor to ceiling windows covered the whole wall. A giant jacuzzi-style tub was in front of the window. On the left, a huge shower with two shower heads. Bit of an overkill, but okay. Twin sinks were next to the shower, and another tinted glass door led to the toilet which formed a sort of cubicle to the left of the sinks. Everything was white, with a cream marble floor and countertop that matched the tones in the bedroom. A huge silver mirror adorned the space above the countertop. The whole bathroom was absolutely beautiful.
I locked the bathroom door. I do not for fuck’s sake trust any of these people. Deciding to take a bath, seeing as it looked so inviting, I undressed. I probably had to find some sort of toiletry, so I started opening drawers. Under the sink was an array of bottles and containers. I looked through them finding shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath and shower gel. Glad to see I could still read after my time in the wild. I turned the tap of the tub on, the force of the water stunning me for a moment. I didn’t realise how much I had missed indoor plumbing. I poured in half of the bottle of bubble bath. I was determined to make this moment mine and enjoy it while it lasts. Lifting my leg over the side of the tub, with this stupid chain, I caught a glance of myself in the mirror. I was shocked. I looked like absolute shit. Where I once had slight curves, I was now straight up twiggy. I looked emaciated. Every bone stuck out like a sore thumb. My hair was longer than I remembered, though. Which was nice. Now it fell to the middle of my butt, but still as white as ever. My face was still angular, but with a more defined jaw line, my lips still full and pink. My nose had always been sharp, but I’ve always thought it wasn’t that bad, but now it kind of looked a little too sharp. My face had always had a defined diamond shape, but my eyes though. They’ve changed a little. Where they were always a light blue, they were more of a grey now with a darker circle surrounding the irises. They shocked me a little, and my cheekbones were more prominent. Where I was always pretty, at least I thought I was, I now just looked straight up scary. Kind of exotic too.
Ignoring my initial shock at my appearance, I washed my hair and body. The warm water was relaxing. Feeling much better, I got out, drained the tub and grabbed a towel off the rack on the wall. Heated. Cool, so this was a fancy prison at least. Drying my body, I wrapped a towel around my hair. I’ll need a hairdryer, it’s quite cold. I walked out of the bathroom, still In a towel, my thoughts nowhere and everywhere at once, jumping when I saw Cate standing next to the couch.
“Everything alright, Luna?” She asked with a worried look.
“Yes, thanks. And call me Skyler.”
That seemed to upset her. “I’m sorry Luna, but the Alpha said to only call you Luna. I think he wants to be the only one to call you by your name.”
The audacity of this man.
“That’s stupid. Fine, whatever. Can you get me a hairdryer?”
“Right away Luna. Here is the food,” motioning to the table. On it was a plate covered with a sliver dome thing, a pitcher of water, a glass of orange juice and a granola bar.
“Thanks.” Trying to sound less disgusted than I felt. Knowing it’s highly unlikely I’d be eating anything, as when I’m emotional I loose my appetite. Or I just won’t eat out of spite. Then let’s see what mister Alpha has to say. I get angry just thinking about our conversation earlier, my blood boiling.
He’s hot though.
No. None of that. Stupid mate bond.
I looked at the clothes lying on the bed. Black sweatpants, white socks and a grey long-sleeve t-shirt. Weird combination, but comfortable nonetheless. I kind of thought he’d make me wear some sort of nun dress to hide my body. I’m guessing he didn’t pick out the clothes. I got dressed and walked over to the balcony doors. Turning the handle, nothing happened. Locked. I drew back the curtains and appreciated the forest I saw below me. I guess this was the second floor, maybe third. With a last glance at the leafy green forest below me, my body ached for a run. That meant my wolf was resurfacing. At least that was good. She wanted a run so badly, I could feel the itch in my hands and feet. Walking over to the table, I nearly drank the whole pitcher of water, my body thanking me for every sip. Not bothering to look what was in the plate, I sat on the couch looking for a remote for the TV. As I was about to get up to look in the drawers of the night stand, Cate came back with a dryer.
“Here is the hairdryer, Luna. Is the food not to your liking? I can have the cooks make something else?” She said, glancing over my shoulder at the table. She was clearly worried that I hadn’t touched the food.
“Uh, no. I’ll eat in a minute, thanks.” I lied.
“Alright then, Luna. If you need anything else, just knock on the door. Somebody will be outside at all times so you can call whenever you need.” She smiled. Fucksakes, why was she so chirpy?
“Okay,” taking the dryer from her hands. She smiled again.
With a curt bow, she turned and left.
I found a socket, dried my hair and brushed my fingers through it. It was much softer than I remembered. Being in wolf form for months must have done my hair some good. Deciding to look for a brush later, I climbed back into bed.
Almost instantly I fell into a restless sleep, welcoming the darkness with open arms.
