Ava's POV

Beep
What was that constant beeping sound? Slowly I opened my eyes all I could see was a blinding light so I quickly shut them again and groaned. Next thing I knew there was a warm hand in mine and tingles raced through my arm as my heart started to beat faster, I slowly opened my eyes again and turned my head to the left as I saw Phoenix sitting in a plastic chair holding my hand and frowning at me.
"What's wrong?" I asked her as I lifted my other hand to see a tube connected to it, feeding into it was a red substance it looked and smelled like blood to me. "What's wrong?" she glared at me, I had a feeling I was about to get into some deep shit here and I couldn't even figure out what had made her mad or where here was. "You passed out after dinner, YOU SCARED THE SHIT OUTTA ME" she screamed at me, then she took a deep breathe " why didn't you tell me that you needed blood sooner? Why did you wait so long to tell me?" Phoenix had tears in her eyes, HELL even my eyes were getting misty. I felt like an absolute asshat of a mate for not saying something sooner, to be honest I was scared that she was going to hate me for saying I needed it like clockwork always at a certain time or else I would get dizzy spells sometimes I could be passed out for days. I looked at her in the eyes and said "I'm so sorry I was just enjoying your company so much I didn't want to spoil the evening by saying something like lets get outta here I need blood" I looked away from her and glanced down at our hands that were joined.
Phoenix sighed and looked at me "We are at the pack hospital, you have been unconscious for only a few hours I explained that you were a werewolf/vampire hybrid and had stated that you needed blood before passing out so they have been feeding you intravenously although its probably not helping your cravings is it?" I just stared at her in shock and then shook my head, "I need the blood to help me stay strong and in control of my vampire side, although feeding it to me through a tube helps gain a little strength it certainly doesn't curb the cravings"
Phoenix looked at me and sighed "Do you want me to get you a blood bag? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind and then maybe we should be able to go home back to my place." I just nodded my head at her "That would be great thanks" Phoenix smiled at me finally and said "Ok I'll go get a nurse and see about that blood bag for you, stay here ok?" I smiled back at her she was such a beautiful woman and I was starting to fall in love with her, I think I would have been attracted to her despite the mate bond. She stood up and went to leave the room when the nurse came barrelling in with the doctor and nearly knocked Phoenix down. I growled at them as I got off the bed and moved towards her, I felt a tug on my arm as I went to reach for her when I remembered that I was attached to the drip. I was pulled back a bit and the doctor rushed towards me as the nurse apologised to Phoenix. The doctor grabbed me and pushed me towards the bed again, I heard growling from Phoenix "DON'T TOUCH HER LIKE THAT OR I'LL FUCKING RIP YOUR HEAD OFF" The doctor swung her head back to look at her and barred her neck "Sorry Prin..Phoenix I didn't mean to be rough I just didn't want your mate to fall or trip from the IV attached to her" She was still barring her neck to Phoenix and I just stared at them I couldn't understand what was going on.
Phoenix nodded her head and said to the doctor "She needs a blood bag it will help replenish her and make her stronger" The doctor looked at the nurse who turned and rushed out of the room. She returned moments later with a blood bag and handed it over to me. I just stared at it I couldn't wait to sink my fangs into it but I had to be patient and wait until everyone left the room I couldn't let them see me become the vampire I did when feeding. They all stared at me before Phoenix said something before I even opened my mouth "Everyone get out she needs to be alone NOW!" I smiled at her gratefully as the nurse and doctor left muttering about royals being rude. I just didn't get it I couldn't understand what they were saying what was a Royal? I'd have to ask Phoenix. Speaking of which I looked at her as she walked over to the door and locked it, "Ok now they are gone you can feed in peace" I shook my head at her "You have to leave too I can't have you see me like this, I'm not a normal vampire"
