Ch. 6

Long dark red hair pulled up into a high pony-tail with two bangs framing a slightly round face. A dark blue leaf headband tied around her forehead. Light purple eyes and a small smirk.

Naruko didn't know how long she had been sitting inside of this T&I room just staring at the photo that was stapled to the inside of the folder. She had spent many nights wondering what her mother looked like and never could she imagine someone so beautiful. To Naruko, her mother was the most beautiful person she had ever seen.

Next to the photo was a pile of neatly stacked papers that told her all sorts of things. Her mother was from a different village, possibly the last survivor of Uzushiogakure. She had come to the leaf village after her home had been destroyed and fell under the care of one Mito uzumaki, wife of hashirama senju, and first jinchuriki of the kyubi.

Kushina had apparently had a special type of chakra, chakra that was able to suppress tailed beast chakra, which made her the prime - and only- candidate for holding the nine tails after mito passed away.

After she had become the new village jinchuriki, kumo had attempted to kidnap her, not because of the kyubi, they hadn't known about that, but because of her ability to suppress the tailed beasts.

Luckily she was saved by someone, the persons name had been blacked out, but Naruko didn't mind. She only cared about her mother right now.

It's also stated in her file that only a handful of people knew of her jinchuriki status, which kind of annoyed naruko. Why could the third hokage keep her mothers status a secret, yet he couldn't do the same for her?

Just another one of his betrayals to add to the ever growing list.

She looked up from the folder as the door opened and Kakashi walked in wearing a standard jonin attire with his ever present mask covering the lower half of his face and his head band pulled down to cover his left eye.

"How are you feeling Naruko?" He asked as he stepped into the white room and closed the door behind him. There was a wooden table in the little of the room with two chairs. Naruko was sitting in one and he made his way to sit in the one across from her. Behind him, on the right side of the door was a large one way mirror that was currently hiding Hiruzen, ibiki and inochi from view.

"Better." Naruko replied softly, her small content smile was present on her face once more." Thank you for showing me this." She motioned towards the opened file that sat on the table in front of her.

Settling into his chair, Kakashi gave her a small nod." Of course Naruko." He replied." But now that you've seen that, we need to talk." He told her softly.

Naruko took one last look at the photo of her mother before she slowly closed the folder." What do you wanna know?" She knew this would happen. She knew that after what she did, people would start asking questions.

Kakashi eye smiled at her." Let's start off with an easy question. How'd you know your mothers name?" He asked.

Naruko looked him in the eyes and sighed." The nine tails told me." She answered truthfully. The man before her had kept his promise to show her the file lying on the table in front of her and he did. Now it was her turn to tell the truth.

Besides a casual head nod, Kakashi didn't outwardly react to the new knowledge." How long have you been in contact with the nine tails?" He questioned.

"The first time I spoke with him was two years ago."

"I see. How did you come in contact with it?"

"Him."

Kakashi tilted his head curiously.

Naruko shuffled in her seat." The kyubi is a him. Please refer to him as such." She said awkwardly.

"Of course." He nodded." How did you first come into contact with him two years ago, Naruko?" He asked once more.

"It was the day I asked the hokage for help with my training." Kakashi remembered. He was the one to send her to him after all." He said no and I was annoyed, you know?" Kakashi nodded yes." So I was running through the woods to blow off some steam and I guess I wasn't paying attention cause I hit a tree and woke up inside of the seal." She finished calmly.

Kakashi leaned forward and crossed his arms." Has the kyubi ever tried to convince you to remove and or tamper with the seal?" He asked and Naruko shook her head no." Have you ever accessed the kyubis chakra before last night?"

"No." Naruko answered. She sighed and leaned forward, resting her head on the table next to the closed file." I was just- j-just so angry." She admitted softly." Knowing that the hokage knew who my parents were this entire time and instead of telling me the truth, he lied directly to my face, multiple times!" She said, lifting her head to look at him.

Kakashi nodded his head." I understand Naruko, I know it wasn't the right thing to do." Naruko nodded with a huff." Okay, last question." Kakashi stated." Do you know the identity of your father?" He asked calmly.

"No." Naruko told him with a shake of her head." I don't think kyubi knows either... do you?" She asked him, her blue eyes suddenly narrowed.

Kakashi closed his only exposed eye and sighed softly." I do- but I'm not at liberty to say." He saw the disappointed from on her face." Your father had many enemies and if they knew about you... you could be targeted and we don't want that." He told her.

"So it's for my own safety?" She asked wile rolling her eyes in annoyance.

"Precisely!" Kakashi replied in a cheerful tone." I'm so glad you understand." He eye smiled while ignoring the blonds annoyed grumbling.

He stood up and pushed his chair back in towards the table." In a few minutes, someone will come talk to you in a moment okay?" When Naruko nodded her head he gave her one more eye smile before leaving the room.

The moment he closed the door behind him he let out a small sigh and looked to the three people standing in front of the one way mirror.

"So?" He asked.

"She seems to be telling the truth." Inochi stated calmly and ibiki nodded his head.

"Her body language suggests she's being truthful." The head of t&i stated gruffly as he crossed his arms over his chest.

Hiruzen sighed." I wish she would've just came and talked to me instead of tearing my tower up." He told them as he took a hit from the lit pipe in his mouth.

"Why?" Kakashi asked curiously." We both know you would've just continued to lie to her and who knows what would've happened then." He stated sourly. He never did like the fact that Hiruzen would rather hide everything instead of simply telling her the truth.

"Kakashi" Hiruzen took a deep calming breath as he glared at the man." We still need to talk about you breaking my law about telling her about her Heritage." He stated pointedly.

Kakashi just shrugged." I did what needed to be done in order to calm her down hokage-sama." He stated confidently." She hospitalized a good handful of Anbu agents in a matter of seconds and that was before she accidentally accessed the nine tails chakra. Who knows what she could've done had I not calmed her down." He added lazily.

Hiruzen sighed before he straightened his shoulders." I'm gonna speak with her." He announced. He quickly walked passed everyone and entered the room.

"Naruko." He greeted softly as he closed the door behind him. She didn't respond, let alone look at him. She kept her blue eyes glued to the file before her. He walked forward and stood next to the table yet he didn't take a seat." I want you to know that you won't be getting in any trouble for last nights incident." He told her. The council would hound him but he was the hokage and his word was law.

"I understand that you're angry with me, about me not informing you of who your parents are." He hesitated for a moment before continuing." I feared that if people found out who they were that it'd not only put you, but the rest of our village in danger. I'm sorry that I hurt you like this, but I wanted you to grow up like a normal child." He admitted softly.

"Normal child?" Naruko asked softly as she looked up at him with that ever present small smile." Did you want me to grow up as a normal child before or after you announced my jinchuriki status to the entire village." Hiruzen was slack jawed at the hidden accusation. Naruko stood up from her seat and closed the file before picking it up and holding it close to her chest. Her blue eyes locked onto his brown ones.

"You kept my mothers jinchuriki status a secret yet you refused to do the same for me, why?" She asked curiously, her head tilting to the side a bit.

Hiruzen sighed sadly." The fourth hokage wanted you to be seen as a hero Naruko. When I saw the hatred the people carried for you I knew I had made a mistake so I created a law, one that wouldn't allow the adults of the village to tell anyone, let alone even speak of the fact that you were a jinchuriki." He told her." I was trying to protect you." He added softly.

Naruko didn't speak for a moment and while her small smile was still on her face, her cheeks ran wet with falling tears.

"You see, you lied to me about my own parents for years. How can I believe anything you say to me now?" Hiruzen didn't say anything but those words cut him deep." I don't want anything to do with you or the hokages position ever again." Those words cut him even deeper." We're done, hokage-sama." She finished softly.

She reached up and whipped her eyes before she got up from her seat and walked past the silent old man. She opened the door and left the room.

"Naru-"

"Let her go inochi." Hiruzen called out from where he was still standing. His brown eyes locked onto the seat the little blond had just left, a look of remorse graced the old man's face as he tried to accept this new reality.

Naruko didn't trust him anymore. She didn't wanna be the hokage anymore. She probably didn't wanna be a ninja anymore, let alone protect the village should the need arise.

'Kushina, minato... forgive me..'
