Attack (Part 1)

The seven small spheres shone and changed shapes around Nicola as he thought of the most useful applications on the battlefield, he knew that the best way to refine his skills was in a fight. So he was getting ready to go deeper into the forest and face more powerful magical beasts.

After taking a few missions from the guild, Nicola entered the forest, deeper than he had ever entered. "I think that here should be enough to find the granitic bear and the firenze steed." He spoke to himself as he looked around. The mana was denser in that part of the forest, the deeper and denser the mana was, the more magical animals could evolve and increase their ability to kill.

After a few hours he found his first prey, the steed was a kind of horse much larger than usual, with a reddish coat, almost like an ember. The paws were wrapped in an orange flame that burned without harming the animal, the mane was also made of the same flame, but it seemed to be harmless because it did not burn the grass or the surrounding trees.

Nicola prepared to ambush the horse. His previous fights taught him how to kill faster and without risks, he used mana in the air to conjure spikes of water that quickly froze and became ice poles that aimed at the animal as they circled around to attack it. It was all very quick and clean, so as soon as he threw the ice projectiles at the horse he quickly conjured a cloud of lightning over the animal and used an area attack to keep him from running away. When approaching, the animal tried to kick, but Nicola deftly dodged and used the daggers of darkness to attack the enemy's neck, hitting an artery that quickly caused the animal's death.

"The fire daggers were not very useful, the fire element promotes much more attack than defense, but a magical beast that uses fire has some innate resistance to the element, so darkness was really the best option to kill the animal. Lightning immobilized it for a while and the ice being an element opposite of the fire caused a weakness." He thought as he processed the carcass and kept it in his ring.

The bear would give Nicola much more work, he still thought of a strategy to kill the animal. As a user of a terrestrial element, he had a great physical defense, in addition to a high resistance to earth and thunder elements. His own strength could not be underestimated either, so hand-to-hand combat would be completely unfavorable to him, the only solution that Nicola found was to use traps and attack from a distance using Darkness, Fire, Wind and water.
