"HEY, TWILIGHT! What do you want for dinner. huh?" I asked my boy who was lying beside me. I am sitting comfortably here in front of the television, doing my homework. The dog barked as a response. "You must have been hungry, huh? Yu should have asked me." It was past nine and we haven't had our dinner yet. I was so busy with my school works. The downside of being an athlete in school, they will give you extra work to do when you're inside the class because that's the only way you can make up for the missed lessons.
I opened our cupboard to look for a food that doesn't need to be cooked. I saw a canned sardines. I opened it and divided it into two. I fished out twilight's bowl to put rice, sardines and dogfood. after that, I poured water in it and mixed them all together. After doing my dog's food, I got my plate and started eating.
The dinner was so quiet. Even my dog is not making any noise. This has been going on since my mother moved out temporarily. How I wish she goes home. It has been a lonely dinner for me. I don't think I can still take it if new year came and she's not yet home.
After finishing my dinner, I cleaned myself and made sure that everything is locked. I went to my bedroom with my dog.
I laid in my bed. I got my phone that was on my night stand. I opened my Facebook account to keep up with what was happening. The moment I opened my account, I saw that my notification was bombarded. It says there that there have been updates in the pages that I was following. I checked out each update. The first update is just news regarding the winning of my mother in the third trial of her latest case. I clicked like. I opened the next update. It was a post from the page of our district's governor. It states there that all parent must take care of their children because of the rumors that there was a syndicate that is kidnapping minors and doing something vile.
"So it was not just here in our city?" I whispered to myself. I clicked the comment section to see the reactions of the netizens. Some are enraged and some commented that they should not post something that is not accompanied by evidences. That it might alarm the people in our district. I was scrolling through the comment section when a comment got my attention. The commenter's account name was 'wolf' and the comment is not related to the announcement of the page.
It says there, "You should keep your village safe. Wolves are lurking." Out of curiosity, I clicked the account name and I was redirected to the account's profile. It doesn't have a posts and the account is not in private. It must be a troll account.
The comment was weird but I only shrugged the thought that it is a threat. It does look like one but it might be a troll.
I logged out of my account. I was about to put back my phone on the nightstand when I received a call from Brix.
"Hey, bud. What's up?" I said. "So, I tried calling Kuya Sunday's phone." He started. "What? are you nuts? What if our hunch was right?' I cut him off.
"Well, we're correct. Someone answered the call. He acted as if he was Kuya Sunday. I asked him questions to confirm something and his answers are off. I think they hurt him." He said. I was suddenly in deep thought. "I don't want to consider this but there is a possibility that Sally's right." He added.
"Hey, you still there?" He asked, getting me out of my reverie. "Yes. Did you tell it to anyone?" I asked. I heard something shuffling on the background. He must be doing something. "No, not yet. Should I?" He asked. His voice laced with worry.
"Don't. I'll try to get hold of my mother and asked her some things. And we don't have proof that it was a murder. We might be put in jail instead if we reported it." I told him. We can't rush things now. Also, we don't know what was happening.
"Okay. I'll hang up now. Take care." he said then dropped the call. I tossed my phone at my side as soon as the call ended.
"What is it, huh?" I whispered, looking at the dark ceiling.
"Wolf, blood, village."
I opened my television here in my room and searched for something. I tried looking for documentaries of terrorist attacks or anything related to it. Cause by just thinking that the school guard might be dead doesn't make sense. There might be something behind it. And there might be more of it.
I have a strong gut feeling that something is happening.
"What is it, huh?" I whispered for the nth time.
After browsing the net, I turned the television off because there are no documentaries that matched my searches.
I went over my window. I was about to close it when I saw a shadow behind a mango tree. When I tried to look at it closely, the owner of the shadow suddenly run off into the woods in front of our house, I followed it with my eyes until he was eaten by the dark.
"Wolves are lurking." I suddenly uttered. I nodded my head in realization. I closed the window and then got my phone to send a message to Brix.
"Be careful, even walls have ears." The message says.
"It's true, though. And they are listening." That was his reply.
