Chapter 9 - The Building Across the Street

After that hearty breakfast, while walking down the street as more like a couple, Kiyoshi and Sachio are having a good time with each other, while holding hands. But still, Sachio could not confess her feelings to him. The street is quiet and barely had any traffic.

"Sachio-chan, how's your parents' bookstore?" Kiyoshi asked breaking the silence. Sachio then looked at him and responded back plainly, "Oh, it's fine. Besides, you are our regular there."

"Yeah, that's true," replied Kiyoshi positively with a bit of an embarrassment. "I really loved books after all." Sachio then smiled back.

Less than 10 minutes later, after turning left to a street, the two of them saw an abandoned building, which was 4 storeys high and was neglected for years, even for decades. Judged by the looks, it seems that it was either abandoned by the owner or the owner simply died and never had anyone to take his place. That building is also across the street from a pet store.

"Woah, that building was so creepy," Kiyoshi commented upon seeing it in the front. "I mean, it's so old and creepy."

"Yes, some rumors that there are still some people, mostly homeless ones, lived there," Sachio explained about it based on facts and rumors she had heard before.

"What? Really?" responded Kiyoshi back with a surprised face. Sachio then silently nodded back, "Yes, and I think one of the residents there seems to have a connection with the disappearances of various people, like that student from 2-A."

"Are you sure about that?" Kiyoshi raised a question with a doubt.

"I am not sure," Sachio responded back, "I only heard that from the witnesses." At that moment, Kiyoshi remembered what his friends told him less than a week ago. After that, Kiyoshi snapped back and responded back with, "Yeah, possibly." He then think seriously about that, hypothesizing about that possiblity. Then, suddenly, someone from that creepy building came out, prompting the two teenagers to flee the scene, thinking that they must have trespass without permission. But that very building was the home of Daku Kamada.
