"ahhh!" I screamed before pushing him off the bed. With my heart racing, I clutched my white pillow to my chest even though I was not naked. White pillow? I don't own anything white for obvious reasons.

" Ughh! You're more violent when you're awake." My idiot of a cousin said as he tried massaging his back. 

" What are you doing in my bed?" I yelled at him. I know he is family but he is a guy. And I don't like having guys this close to me, alone, in my room. 

" In your bed?" he scoffed before adding " check again Kelly."

It was then I noticed I was not in my bed, not in my grandma's, not even in my dad's. It was... Ben's.

No no no! Please don't tell me I....

" Yeah. You sleepwalked to my room" he must have guessed my thoughts when he saw the horrified expression I had on my face. 

" I don't sleepwalk." I said stubbornly. I know I did but I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of admitting.

The thing was... I started sleepwalking after he relocated to UK. I would always find myself in his room in the morning whenever I stayed at grandma's house. I guessed I missed him that much. 

But now he is here, I don't understand how I ever missed him.

He took off his T-shirt. Showing off his drool - worthy body. Instead of finding my way out, what do you think I did? I sat down rooted to the bed, staring at his body. What broke the trance was the cocky smirk on his face.

Trust me. When a guy is cute and he doesn't know, that's very adorable. But when he looks good and he knows, that is the spelling of danger.

Christmas is near! Who is excited? Everyone but Kelechi. After a break up, Christmas excitement is not what she needs. Definitely not her entire dysfunctional family in one place. Especially not her cousin Ben who she is attracted to.

Love or Lust (Christmas romance)

  Through out that day, I was so high in joy. Knowing that he loved me as much as I loved him lifted my mood. When mama had asked me to help her in the kitchen, I happily did as she said. I even escorted her to the market to buy more foodstuff. The day before new year was filled with errands but that did not dull my mood. 


   It was during dinner that I noticed that I had not seen Ben since that morning. We were going to have dinner and prepare for new year Eve. 


   After dinner, I went to his room to know why he didn't come out for dinner. But, he was not there. 


  "Meso, have you seen Ben?" I asked her. I was not ready for what I heard next.


   "Ben? Ben travelled this morning. Didn't you know?" She paused for a while wondering why I had not known.


  I was speechless. I can't describe how shocked I was. For a moment, I thought I was hearing things. Rushing to his room, I went to check his things. He couldn't have left me like that. I thought that I was the closest person to him. If he was going to leave, I should be the first person to know. 


   It was empty. His wardrobe was empty. His things were missing. I checked his drawer to find it all empty. I fell to the ground, shocked. How did I not see this coming? We were never meant to be. I must have been only a Christmas fling. Whatever we shared might have meant nothing to him. 


   Again that month, another guy had broken my heart. And he did it so easily. My chest hurt so much. It hurt so much. A tear slipped out and rolled down my cheek. I could not believe I let another guy break my heart. But this was Ben. He could not have been this heartless to hurt me again. 


   That was when I noticed a crumpled paper on the floor, beside the bed. It looked dusty like it had been on the floor for a long time. I picked it up, unfolding it, straightening it to see what was in it. What I saw shocked me.


  It was an adoption paper stating that Mr and Mrs Chima had been given full legal rights as Ben's new guardian. 


  Ben was adopted and he knew it. Then why did he leave. There was only one person that could answer that. And that was Ben.


   Wiping away my tears, I left the room. I went to my room to pack up some of my things. I was going to leave the next day. He was not getting rid of me that easily.


   "Kelechi what are you doing?" I heard my dad from my door. In a haste, I heard left it open. My dad  looked at me knowingly. "This nonsense has been going on for far too long. I won't let you disgrace this family."


   I didn't know how he found out about Ben and I. "I don't understand. " I tried to play dumb hoping he was talking about something else.


   "Don't play dumb with me. I know what you and Ben have been doing. How? Do you want to shame us? It's incest and you know it's wrong!" Dad raised his voice on me. He rarely ever did that. 


   "You better stay put. For your sake, I will let it slide. We don't need more people knowing about this." He stormed out of my room, slamming the door. 


   It seemed like my dad had forgotten the kind of daughter he had. I was not going to obedient and stay idle. 


   Dad made sure I followed everyone to the mass for New year Eve. He thought he could stop me from doing anything rash if I was in church not knowing I had other plans.
