Chapter 3: Melody from Past

Alwen Cris

The melody that I am humming wasn't being thought to me by those who were I am with but it was from a very distant memory that locked for a very long time ago. It wasn't from my mother's, my sisters', or even from my lost beloved but it came from someone who makes me look beyond what lies before my sight.

Love's a curious thing

It often comes disguised

Look at love the wrong way

It goes un-recognized

The melody that I came humming has the title of Look With Your Heart from the theatrical play Phantom of the Opera: Love Never Dies. It's the melody from the past that my great-grandmother from my father's side taught me when I was a teen.

So look with your heart

And not with your eyes

A heart understands

A heart never lies
