Snow was innocent, but not dumb.
She soon noticed how the chart still swing a bit, and her sharp ears caught the mages laughing at her failed temp to climb to the window.
But she didn't let him notice it, she kept pretending to be searching for ways to go out as she knew nothing.
After some time, the mage grew bored and slowly walked up the stairs to his room.
Snow heard the steps with attention, memorizing the direction the mage went to.
The mage was already convinced that she was just a foolish girl.
So he had no caution when opening the cracky door of his room.
At this same moment, snows jump out of the window and ran up the stairs.
The mage's castle had many doors on the second floor, so many that it seemed to be an infinite hall of doors. All thought it was pro lay just magic.
Snow looked with horror at the many doors, any one of them could be the mage's room.
But she didn't want to give up so soon.
she ran to the first door and pressed her ear to the door.
the room was quiet, she open the door.
First, she sights in relief, there was nobody in.
Then, she grasp in admiration, it was the biggest and the most expensive room she had ever seen.
Snow was sure it was her room, it was difficult not to be.
There were giant glass-like snowflakes magically hanging from the roof.
beautiful snow patterns and with-blue gems decorated the room's furniture.
After admiring it for a quiet bit, she goes out, closes the door, and glues her ear to the next door.
Silence again, she opens the door and this time, grasp from unbelief.
Snowflakes on the roof, with blue furniture, exactly like the last room.
A cold run down her spine, she runs out the run and careless opens the next door.
Her fears come to be true, all rooms are the same.
In despair, she ran from door to door, for nothing. No matter how many doors she opened, all rooms were the same, none were the mage's room.
Feeling defeated, she enters a random room and allows herself to fall asleep.
She wakes with the most beautiful bird song she ever heard. She had not noticed to fall asleep because the bed and pillows were as soft as clouds. she didn't even feel cold, even if it was snowing outside and she had slept without a blanket.
And the marvel kept going.
Marvelous clothes, a gigantic bathroom, and so on.
When she came out of her room, she was seriously thinking that stain at the castle with the magician was, not a bad idea.
That was until she saw him coming out of the door next to her room.
She looked inside the room, it was exactly like you expect a magician's room to be, disorganized, dark, and full of books. Nothing like her room.
She then realized that it was not all rooms alike, but all doors led to the same room.
The magician room was any room besides her, it just needed his permission to be entered.
With this clue, she was sure she could escape.
Scape and return to her parents.
Of course, she did not let it show.
That morning she played the defeated dame.
Sadly complimenting the mage humor full, eating her wonderful food, and sadly entering her room again.
She played it all day, and the next day, and the entire week.
The mage never paid attention to her she had become one more jewel in his palace, and one day, he believed she would beg to be his bride, he just had to wait.
The prideful mage became so careless that one evening, during his after-lunch nap, he let the door to his room open.
While he was sleeping, Snow entered the room and snatched his hat.
The moment she touched the hat, the magician woke up.
But it was already too late.
Snow had put the hat on her had and so, disappeared.
" Appear right now! You dumb fool, you do not even know what you are doing!" The curious mage shout, in an attempt to make Snow speak to catch her.
Snow does not speak, and also doesn't stay still. She ran away with all her might.
When she saw that the mage had no idea where she was, she carefully came back.
In the corridor, she encountered a furious mage running down the stairs.
She followed him.
He opens the door to the library.
Snow never saw the library, it was like magic like the mage's room.
She had never seen a library before.
But the place was so huge, full of bookshelves and reading tables that one could not think it to be anything else.
Snow knew she could not escape, even invisible.
She knew she had a chance to escape, and she knew how to be patient.
The mage began throwing magic books out of the shelves to read them, all were magic books.
The mage was searching for the magic to capture snow. What he did not know, was that every book he read, snow read it too.
Of course, she tried to simply run out of the castle on the first day, but even when she made it, there was still an invisible wall around the castle.
Anyway, Snow would not give up so fast.
Whenever the mage tried to cast the magic, Snow cast the antimagic for it. This game went on for some days.
The mage knew it could not go on forever.
Snow's magic knew grew with every passing day. Soon, she would be powerful enough to escape.
The worst part for the mage was that Snow was using the mage's castle against him.
Once she realized how the castle doors worked, she would escape through every door.
She would not get hungry, for every table always had food on.
And most importantly, the mage knew she could be very persistent and annoying.
She used l the most simple magic tricks she learned to make pranks.
She spoiled his food, his bath, his work, and almost his entire life in all possible ways.
Until one day, he lost it.
He called to the castle an entire battalion of well-trained soldiers.
At first, the snow did not think much of it, but the soldiers would notice her eating from the tables or simply stepping through the corridor.
Then they would chase her and the faster she ran the louder her steps were and the soldiers would know better her location.
The inevitable moment arrived, snow was surrounded, and had no way to escape. The soldiers had all expensive antimagic armor so none of her tricks would save her this time.
Snow started to panic and prayed for a miracle.
She prayed to not be held captive anymore, for that nightmare to end, Even if she could not see her parents again. She just wanted to be free.
She didn't want to give up and keep praying as the soldiers came near.
A cold northern wind blow on Snow's hair.
Suddenly, all soldiers stopped moving.
Snow raised her head, their we were frozen, and so was Snow.
She felt her skin was no more, she was once again made of ice and snow.
As her clothes were frozen and stiff, she had to take them out and made herself a new ice dress.
This new power came naturally to her.
Once dressed, she took out the magic hat for the first time in many days.
She didn't feel as she needed it anymore.
She felt different, more powerful, and free.
Once the mage arrived at the scene he froze too but not out of the cold.
In from of him, stood no more a princess, but a queen from winter and at her feet, the 100 best soldiers from his kingdom.
The mage slowly kneeled at her feet.
"I am sorry for every arm I may have given you, please, have mercy" He begged.
But Snow was diferent, she had no mercy left.
" I will chain you to your room, the room shall provide you with everything you need to stay alive, but water. Thirsty shall take over your body, but I won't let you die. You will be too weak to scape your chains and so, be forever kept from doing more harm to anyone. Prisoner from your castle." Those were Snow's last words to the mage.
When she finally broke free, her father called her. It was a gentle but cold voice carried through the wind.
Snow followed the voice, she wanted to meet her old parents, but something in the winter voice made her sure she had to meet him first.
She flies and like snow in a tempest, she let the wind carry her.
After some time, she arrives on a human kingdom. A frozen kingdom, where winter rained every season and every year.
The wind landed her on a balcony from a frozen castle.
There, she found a man, made of ice like her.
Besides him was a woman, a normal, meat and bone woman. She did not seem to be kind, she also was not beautiful. There was a great contrast between her and the cold perfect figure of her father.
Her father opened his arms and she hugged him without thinking much.
" My daughter, welcome to your new home." He said to her.
But she was still very confused with everything that was happening.
The winter looked at her daughter's eyes and understood her.
"I know how you want to meet your old parents, but you cant. I need you to let everything behind."
Snow did not know why her father said those words, but she knew he was right.
Once she accepted her power, she had turned to something else, something that could not live the same life as before.
"You will be lonely and bored if you have to hide in this castle just as you were held prisoner from the mage. But there is a way." Her father spoke as if he could read her thoughts.
"You need to find a mortal husband, a friend, and a lover who accepts your immortal side and who is ready to share his mortal side with you."
A frozen tear ran down Snow's face.
" Father, no decent man will want to marry an inhuman like me. I will meet only those who want my immortality."
Her father huge her again.
"Don't worry my daughter, I would never have given you life if I were sure you could not be happy." Even if there was winter hi self speaking those worlds, Snow felt them warm.
