"There was no need for that. I've known it all these years." Sophia sighed.

"Yet you've always accused me of.."

Carina's loud sob cut him off. She punched his chest, the thump resonating in the dead of the night.

"I can't believe it! You think you can play with me like this? This is what it's always been like. You both play meaningless games and include me in it just for fun! My feelings don't matter to you at all, do they?"

Thomas took her hand in his, "That's not true. We both love you. We are the only ones here for you. To protect you."

"Lies! All my mother wanted was to send me off, to get her hands free. That's why she married me off in the first place." Her voice turned venomous.

Sophia chuckled. "Are you really that blind?"

"Mistress, no." Thomas gave a stern warning.

"What're you talking about?" Thomas kept shaking his head no. She walked towards them slowly, calculating her next words in her head.

"Forgive me Tommy. But I have to." Thomas lowered his head. Carina felt an exhausting nervousness. She felt as if something bad was about to hsppen. Something really bad.

Sophia whispered in her daughter's ear, "You want to know who killed your husband? It was us."
