chapter 49

Love had always been bitter to her. Carina's one sided love for Thomas had been... painful to say the least. It had brought her several sleepless nights, filled with salty tears and fond memories of what it was. What it could've been also came to her as dreams. Dreams where Thomas was hers and he would gladly call her 'mine'.

Carina had felt like dying when she heard about his marriage. It was like, all her love, all the memories didn't matter to him. The photograph she had seen on the local newspaper the next day, only proved her point. Love was beautiful, as long as it was with the right one.

Thomas gulped. The determination in Carina's eyes shaking him to the very core. He didn't know how to respond.

Sophia rolled her eyes, "I surely didn't ever imagine my daughter confessing her love to a married man. For Pete's sake, his wife is pregnant." The mention of his wife brought some senses back to him.

"I'm sorry. I have to excuse myself." He took long strides to head back to his chambers, where he belonged. Carina looked at her mother with a feral expression.

"You're the reason my life is in ruins." She left, leaving her mother with an headache.

Before she could reach her door however, a familiar voice spoke up, "Ah, what a pretty little show you made us witness!"

"Nathan!" Carina gasped.

He chuckled amusedly.
