Why are you here?

Doctor Lin became quiet after Zora's question because he was reminded of what Mr Brooke had told him earlier.

Doctor Lin's memories. . .

"Zora is supposed to be waking today. When she does, I will tell her about her pregnancy," Doctor Lin said to Mr Brooke, whose eyes were fixed on the computer.

"No!" Mr Brooke shouts, taking his eyes off the computer. "No one will be telling Zora that she is pregnant! No one!"

Doctor Lin became quiet and allow Mr Brooke to rage before asking, "Am I not her doctor?"

Mr Brooke looks at Doctor Lin with a confused look before answering, "Yes, you are."

"And as her doctor, I should be able to tell my patient what's happening to her."

"And as your boss, you should listen to me, unless you preferred to be fired, then send to prison for making illegal drugs and poisons?" Mr Brooke asked as he raised his left eyebrow at him.

Doctor Lin never said another word, but fake a smile and left Mr Brooke's office.

"Doctor Lin?" Zora calls as she touches Doctor Lin on his hand since he went silent after asking her question.

"Um. . . Zora, you are. . ." Doctor Lin paused as he thought of what he should say to her.

"Yes, I am?"

"You are—You fell ill after getting beaten," Doctor Lin said as he hid the truth from her about being drugged, almost losing her unborn child and almost dying.

"My dad—No, that evil man has always beat me that badly. Why was I unconscious for a whole day this time?" Zora question Doctor Lin as she wasn't comfortable with his answer.

"Um. . . maybe it's because you haven't been beaten by him for so long that now that you are grown it took a lot more damage on you," Doctor Lin lies again.

"But—" Zora said, but unfortunately got cut off by Doctor Lin.

"No more questions, Zora," Doctor Lin said with a small smile.

Zora became quiet and stop continuing to ask Doctor Lin questions about her health.

She didn't stop asking Doctor Lin questions because he said no more questions, it's because she trusted Doctor Lin especially because he is the one that told her about her mother and showed her pictures of her since her father never bothered to tell her about her mother.

"Am I healthy enough to go to school?" Zora asked.

*Sigh*

"Zora, you are healthy, I just can't say when you will go back to school," Doctor Lin said, "Excuse me, I will be taking my leave now."

Zora smiles at Doctor Lin, then Doctor Lin took his leave, leaving Zora alone in her room.

At the bridal store. . .

As he entered through the entrance, even ladies that were getting married were scanning him from head to toe.

A decent, well-dressed and handsome looking man was the way to a woman's heart if that's what the saying said and if that's not the saying it should be because the ladies in the bridal store were all brought to their knees.

The way he smiles and greeted everyone in the store was flattering. Now I wish I was working at that store, haha.

But then suddenly, his smile fades. His handsome face was still there, but it was cold and scary.

He slowly puts his hands in his pockets and walks to a corner where he could not flatter any hearts.

'SMACK, SMACK'

"Nothing is happening around here, ladies. Please continue shopping," a well-dressed lady said, peeking her head out from the corner Demar had just walked to and where hitting sounds were heard.

"What are you doing here?" Demar asks as he was the one that was hitting Mr Bins.

"Calm, calm! I was just looking at the wedding dresses here for my soon to be wife," Mr Bins cried.

"Wife?" Demar questioned.

"Yes, hun," Demar's mom said, which calms him down a little.

The bridal store they were standing in was owned by Demar's mother, but occasionally he would visit her store to see if everything was going well for her.

This bridal store isn't the number one bridal store in Night Love city. It was supposed to be since Demar's the son of the lady who owns it, but Demar's mother wanted to have her own business, which didn't depend on Demar to do all the paperwork.

She wanted to be independent, which she is since she raised Demar on her own without anyone's help.

I have to give it to her, 'one of the best mothers' out there, that will go through hell and heaven with her child when no one was there to offer a helping hand.

"Mom, are you sure he didn't threaten you or anything?" Demar asked his mother with a hard as a rock face.

"No, he did—"

"I didn't even know that this is your mother!" Mr Bins shouts, interrupting Demar's mother.

Demar was going to smack Mr Bins again for interrupting his mother but was held back as his mother held onto his fist and squeeze it.

"Don't," Miss Benjamin said as Demar look at his mother, who held his fist.

*Sigh*

"Why are you even shopping here?" Demar asked, which had his mother looking at him as if he was crazy.

Miss Benjamin pinch Demar on his back to make him correct what he just asked.

"Um. . . don't answer that," Demar quickly change his question after the pinch his mother gave him.

"I didn't know you had a girl that you are willing to commit to," Demar said.

"Well, to be honest, I bought my soon to be wife on the darknet. It's like a gift to myself since you already took everything away from me," Mr Bins said as he wipes the blood from his nose in his kerchief.

"And whose fault is that? Why that has to happen?" Demar asked in an annoyed tone.

"Alright, boys, why don't we put aside our differences for now and have a cup of tea?" Miss Benjamin asks as she points to her office.

"You are too kind, Mrs Benjamin, but I have to refuse. I'll be meeting someone at the cafe above us right about now," Mr Bins said as he kindly refuse Miss Benjamin's offers.

Miss Benjamin was about to correct Mr Bins for calling her Mrs, but she allowed it to slide as Demar said, "Remember to tip, it's call being courteous," with a genuine smile on his face.

Mr Bins smiles then walk away and headed to the cafe.

While heading to the cafe he said to himself, "I don't understand how a person can take everything away from you but still smile happily at you as if nothing happened. This guy is just very confusing."
