Farewell Onaka

Most of this is probably not going to make sense, so just go with it as it is only going to come up right now and probably never again. If it does, then I will think of a better excuse for how it woks, however, for now it isn't really important to the story so this is what you get, sorry.

----------------------

B23 started to fall into a massive hole that he had accidentally created after his hand changed into a spearhead. Before he could reach the bottom however, he tried to reach out and grab the side, which resulted in his arm turning into a tentacle and shooting out in that direction, then grabbing the ledge.

"What the hell?!" B23 yelled at himself as he looked at his hand.

What he didnt know was that when the plot armor appeared, it didnt give him power at all, it simply finished fusing him and Onaka. B23 and Onaka shared a life force and a body, however they still had different spirits. This meant that while they shared some of their dark ripple life force, a large amount of it was divided between them. Think of it as their body having access to 10% of their overall dark ripple, and each of them got 45%. While they could both control that ten percent, Onaka could only use his 45%, while B23 could only use his 45%.

When he was running, B23 used up all of the dark ripple he had access to, so 55%. The plot armor simply forced them to fuse entirely, so he had access to the remaining 45%. Now this wouldn't make him stronger, it would just get rid of his exhaustion. The reason he got stronger was because Onaka had entirely fused with him, bot just the hamon, but the ability he had as well. So B23's speed increased because he gained the ability to better control his entire body.

However, while he could do similar things to what Onaka could do but to his entire body, he could only do them in one place at a time. This was because Onaka's ability to control the stomach was only designed to control one part of the body freely at a time, and that part was where ever the parasyte infested the host, so normally only the head.

Onaka barely had any personality, and what he did was already similar to B23's, so his personality didnt change, only his body and dark ripple. So while Onaka was kind of technically dead, he was also alive at the same time.

"Onaka! Stop doing this now!" B23 shouted at his stomach as he started crying over his fallen friend.

By this time, the assassin had recovered slightly and was able to move again, so he struggled to climb down the tree and reach B23. When he did, he could see the sorrow B23 was going through, and, not knowing how to react or what to do, he simply put his arm on his friends shoulder and told him it would be okay. He didnt know what had happened, but based off of that fact that Onaka wasn't reacting to B23 crying and what B23 said a moment ago, he could guess.

He knew that this was probably his fault as B23 had turned around to save him and only lost control because of that. If they hadn't done that for him, B23 and Onaka probably could have ran longer had eventually found a place to hide. So while he was sad, he was grateful at the same time for what they did for him.

"I'm sorry for your loss." Was all he could say after seeing B23 act like this. He had forgotten that the commander he looked up to had emotions as well.

After a few minutes of crying, B23 stopped and wiped away his tears. He stood up with a serious expression as he thought. It took him a while, but he had accepted Onaka's "death".

"Go find the rest of the team, We are going to head back to the temple." B23 said in a serious voice as he began walking west. He didnt know how to navigate through the wild as easily as the explorers he hired did, however he could tell direction. Once the others caught up to him he could just follow the explorers lead.

"Um, sir. I'm sorry to say this, but the others are all dead." The assassin said in a sad tone.

"What do you mean they are all dead? They were lord Liam's elite, how could they die by anything?" B23 asked in disbelief.

"They had tried to follow you when you started running, however the tiger didnt let that happen as his tail shot at us with hamon covering them. I was the only one fast enough to dodge and get out of the way in time, the others weren't as lucky." He said solemnly.

"Damn it! I promised lord Liam that we would all come back safe, and I lost almost all of my men! I have failed as a commander." B23 yelled as he started punching things and breaking the environment.

The assassin didnt say anything as he didnt know how to respond. Although he knew that it was a mistake, he had to admit that it was B23's fault. He couldn't help but blame his commander for running instead of coming up with a different solution.

"Commander, we could simply follow the dead tree path back, that should lead us back to Washington." The assassin suggested.

"No, that wont work. Even if we do get back to Washington, neither of us know how to track and navigate the wild. We wouldn't make it back. Our best bet now is to head west then figure out what to do once we reach the coast." B23 replied with a cold voice.

"Besides, do you know where we are?" B23 asked the assassin, and the assassin shook his head.

"Look around, see the huge lake here." B23 said as he pointed out the massive lake next to them. "We are in Utah now, this is the Great Salt Lake." He finished and the assassin showed a look of utter disbelief.

"Did we just run across a quarter of the U.S in only eight hours?!" The assassin said in astonishment.

"I think you forget that we have inhuman speed and almost limitless stamina." B23 reminded him. The reason why they were getting exhausted is not because they were running out of stamina, but because their bodies endurance was not enough to support what they were doing to themselves. Their bodies couldn't take that much movement for that long, even if they could fuel it.

"Yeah, I guess you are right. So if we are in northern Utah now, we have to travel at least six hundred miles (965 km) to get back to Oregon. Why are we going back there now anyway? Shouldn't we keep looking for the stone?" The assassin asked.

"No, We are far off coarse and we have lost our tracker, we cant find that kid without him. We have to go back to inform his majesty of what happened so that he can hire a different team. I think he will put you in charge of that one." B23 said as he started walking.

"Put me in charge? What about you commander?" He asked in confusion.

"After losing almost the entire team and our lead on the stone, it wouldn't be surprising if I was executed. Even if lord Liam doesn't have me killed, then I will still resign from this mission as I am obviously unfit to be a leader." B23 replied.

The assassin didnt say anything after that, and they simply walked in silence.

-------------------------------------

After a couple of weeks of walking, they had finally reached the coast. They didnt know where they were on it, but they did know that they were to far south for them to be in Oregon.

They were currently walking north, when all of the sudden, B23 froze.

"What the hell?" He said as he started to shiver slightly.

"What happened commander?" The assassin asked in confusion.

"What is this? Is it hamon?" He asked himself as he focused on the strange feeling. He was feeling a strange radiation hitting him, similar to hamon, yet it didnt effect him. It also felt cold and intangible like the dark ripple, so he didnt know what was happening. It was almost like a ghost or phantom was passing through him, a ghostly ripple if you will.

The assassin doesn't know how to use the dark ripple, so he couldn't sense anything. Once hamon or the dark ripple is trained, the user becomes more accustomed to the sensation life force (or undeath). A normal person cant feel their own life force, and neither can they feel others. Even actual practitioners of hamon or dark ripple can only rarely feel another persons ripple, and that is if the ripple is radiating from their body.

Hamon isn't like Ki in Dragonball, one cant feel it from afar like they can. The ripple needs to be consciously radiated outward, like when someone uses an Overdrive or the ripple detection. So B23 didnt understand why he was feeling this.

"You keep going and tell lord Liam that there is some strange ripple radiating from the ocean. I will stay and investigate it. Hurry!" B23 said as they both started running. The assassin kept running to Oregon as fast as he could to deliver the message even if he didnt understand it.

B23 however only ran for a short while, before he found himself on a beach staring at a massive boat in the distance. He could feel the ghostly ripple radiating from the ship, and it getting closer with the ship. He predicted it would take about an hour for them to reach him, so he hid at a high point and took out a spyglass.

He had this for a while, however never had a need to use it, until now. He focused on he ship with his full effort and looked around its deck. He saw multiple people wearing primitive looking clothes.

One in particular stood out. He had a level one physique, green-white hair, and was wearing a white leather coat (robe? I'm not sure what its called). He was sitting on a barrel while holding a strange arrow like thing. The arrow was long and had a golden arrow head with a silver edge. B23 was certain that this was what was radiating the energy, he didnt know why, he just felt it.

What he failed to see, was the golden hand above his head. It was using some sort of fate magic to make sure that B23 noticed the arrow. When it say that it had succeeded, it left.

--------------------------

This is going to be the last chapter for the B23 mini arc, the next arc will be with Raijin again. B23 will be named some time in volume three so make sure you have left a suggestion within the next week if you have a good idea for his name.

Also, the hand of fate is going to get a little more involved now. This isn't because I'm being lazy, but because I need it to be a little more active later on and having it suddenly start doing everything isn't going to make sense. And to clear up any complaints about overusing it, think of it as the plot armor from the JoJo universe. The plot armor in JoJo's was very active throughout the entire series, and it will act the same here. This will be explained a little more later on, but you readers cant know to much about it yet.

I just wanted to make sure you understood this before you got mad about me using it to much, and understood that it was here for the story. Thanks for reading.
