Elven was waiting in the front of the inn for Zeph. When he finally saw him coming, he was relieved,
"I thought you were lost in the city, and are unable to find your way back. If you hadn't arrived in one more hour, I had to search for you in the streets."
Zeph smiled at Boss's concern. He was already distracted by his thoughts but it was a nice change to talk with Boss.
"Hey Boss, I am tired. Therefore, going to bed straight."
"You are going to sleep. No Dinner. Hey, are you sad over the afternoon thing? Don't worry Zeph your Boss will once again talk to Adonis tomorrow."He patted the back of Zeph.
" Don't take this to heart. If he still doesn't agree I will take you as my disciple. I had your back, kid." Elven thought Zeph to be depressed over the refusal, therefore he was trying his best to cheer up the warrior.
He was even scolding himself over speaking in front of him to Adonis. He knew more about him than Zeph has introduced himself.
Mostly that details came from Sauren who was close to him in the corps. When Sauren came first he too took his time to get acquainted with everyone. It was him who befriended Sauren first.
And through Sauren he gets to know about introvert Zeph. Zeph has potential, as a Boss and senior has the responsibility to make him get proper teaching. That's why he was willing to take him as his disciple if Adonis took a hard stance.
Zeph stopped midway and turned to face Elven. The confusion was apparent on his face.
"He didn't tell you?"
"What?" It was Elven's time to be confused.
"He told me he would be teaching me from tomorrow. But he would only accept me as a student, not as a disciple."
"What? Did he concede? "
"Yeah, he met me on the way to told me so."
"That idiot." He swore under his breath then began to laugh sheepishly.
"He couldn't make himself disagree with my words. He was convinced by them...Haha."
Zeph shakes his head and proceeded towards his room. 'Sometimes it is hard to understand Boss 's thinking 'thought Zeph as he entered his room.
Elven laughed for few minutes and then pointed toward the dark corner of the street,
"Come on, he is gone no need to hide."
Adonis emerged silently from the corner and shakes his head,
"So you were laughing knowing I'm here?"
"My friend don't underestimate me. I was laughing because you were here.
So you were actually convinced."
"No, not by your words " Adonis started but found Elven glaring at him with narrowed eyes.
"Ok, fifty percent by your words, but rest of due to that kid. I saw him in action. He took out a kid from the Aries clan.
He is pretty decent with potential that might be worth teaching. Moreover, he is not too flashy. I hate flashy kids you know."
"Yeah, yeah I still remember that night beating you gave to that rich kid.
Ok so student, not taking as a disciple. "
"I have my reasons Elven."
"I understand friend. You think I don't understand what a capable warrior is doing a running shop in such a vacant neighborhood. "
Adonis met his friend's eyes and found the understanding emotion there.
"I believe you. You don't need to tell me. Just promise me to keep the future safe."He extended his hand to the Adonis.
Adonis gripped his hand and they had a proper handshake like brothers they used to have during frontlines.
It was still a few minutes to sunrise when sleeping Zeph found himself awake on the bed. He woke up due to a slight sound he heard just a second ago. He lifted himself and jumped to another side to see Adonis sitting on the railing of his room's window.
" Come on! Such response time would only lead to a fatal attack by ambusher."
Zeph was confused but he nodded his head nevertheless. He wore his hooded jacket and stepped his katana to his waist.
"We are going to see what you have just signed yourself into.
So no talk, no questions, just follow. "
Ash is jumped down to the street. Zeph also jumped from the window to follow behind Adonis who was walking in the dark streets toward a certain direction.
"Elven has already left in the night leaving you to me. So you have no chance left to backout. Therefore if I found you a little bit uncooperative. I am going to throw you into Wilderness straight."
Zeph nodded to express his approval. Till now he had gotten used to the brisk pace of Adonis.
They crossed twists and turns of streets and we're now passing through the market street with stalls filled with items for sale. But it was closed due tonight and all items were properly secured in locks.
Except for two of them, only a few daily vendors were sleeping there. Adonis casually slipped his right hand into a stall and removed a plain mask with only eyes from inside it.
Despite him breaking the lock and wooden counter no sound was heard in the quiet street.
"Here put it on we are going on the first lesson of your tutoring,
'What kind of world you are going to enter .'
