Wedding Dress

A few days later, Mrs. Han called me, requesting my presence to choose a wedding dress. She informed me that Lance would arrive in ten minutes to pick me up.

"Ten minutes? That's hardly enough time for a lady to freshen up!" I exclaimed to myself, feeling a rush of panic.

Quickly, I dressed in my usual attire: black shorts, a white T-shirt, and a black jacket. Glancing at my reflection, I wondered, "Will I appear too casual in front of Lance?" Dismissing the thought, I headed downstairs upon hearing my mother announce Lance's arrival, grabbing my phone from the bed.

BOOM! My heart skipped a beat when I saw him. He looked incredibly dashing in black denim, a black T-shirt, and a matching black jacket. It was the first time I had seen him in casual wear, sans his usual office attire. We both stepped outside, ready to depart.

BOOM! Another surprise awaited me: a sleek black Ferrari luxury sports car awaited us in front of my house. My prospective husband was the proud owner of that stunning vehicle.

"Someday, that car will be mine once we're married," I thought to myself, smiling inwardly.

Approaching the car, Lance gallantly opened the front door for me. Feeling a bit awkward, I mentioned, "I prefer sitting in the back seat."

"Don't be uncomfortable. Join me in the front seat. I don't wish to be your chauffeur," he playfully replied.

I felt a mix of happiness and slight annoyance. "If you insist on driving, it'll have to wait until I own this car," I chuckled silently, settling into the front seat beside him.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the bridal boutique. Mrs. Han greeted us with an expectant smile as the staff began showcasing an array of wedding dresses. Each dress was beautiful, yet none resonated with me—they didn't match my style.

As I continued browsing, I noticed Lance observing me closely. Feeling self-conscious, I asked, "Is there something amiss?"

"No," he replied with a hint of amusement. "I'm curious about your preferences for wedding dresses and the theme you envision. Is it a discreet affair, a traditional ceremony, or a lavish celebration you'll cherish forever?"

Pausing to envision my dream wedding, I replied, "I desire a dress adorned with pearls and an elaborate design to feel like a princess. Despite it not being a love match, I want a memorable wedding as I intend to marry only once."

Lance nodded thoughtfully. "That's a beautiful vision. Let's ensure your wedding dreams come true."

Feeling a bit materialistic, I appreciated his understanding. Lance directed the staff to fetch a dress as per my description and instructed his manager to arrange a grand wedding. Then, he turned his attention back to me.

"Is there anything else on your mind?" he inquired.

"Yes," I responded. "Why do you believe in only one marriage? What if circumstances change, and we part ways?"

"That's a valid point. However, I aspire to marry once and devote myself entirely to my spouse. That's why I never had a childhood sweetheart. It might seem idealistic, but that's my belief," I confessed.

Lance fell silent, deep in thought. His contemplation left me curious about his thoughts.

A few moments later, the perfect wedding dress was presented. It matched my vision flawlessly—exquisite and breathtaking. Overjoyed, I selected the dress and wanted to express my gratitude to Lance, but he had vanished without a word.

Standing there with the dress in my hands, I felt a surge of emotions. Lance's sudden departure left me pondering. Was he reconsidering? Did my commitment to a lifelong marriage unsettle him?

Determined to find answers, I wandered through the venue's grand halls. Soft lighting illuminated the ornate decorations, and I found Lance on the terrace, gazing at the city skyline lost in thought.

"Lance," I called softly.

He turned to face me, a myriad of emotions crossing his expression. "I apologize for leaving abruptly. I needed time to reflect."

"What were you contemplating?" I asked, stepping closer.

"Your words," he admitted. "Your dedication to a single, lifelong marriage. It made me realize the depth of your intentions. It's not naive; it's admirable."

Relieved and touched, I replied, "I believe in honesty and sincerity in relationships."

Lance took my hands. "And I respect that. It's prompted me to reflect on my own desires. Let's make this wedding and our marriage everything we dream of."

As we stood together, gazing at the cityscape, I felt a newfound sense of hope. With mutual respect and understanding, we embarked on a journey to create a once-in-a-lifetime love story in our marriage.
