I sat in Donovan's room as I contemplated all of the things I'd rather be doing than waiting in fear. I hated being scared like this. I want to stay with Donovan. I can't go back to my house... not for a while anyways. But, besides all that- I... I think I have feelings for him. I don't wanna leave. I couldn't imagine not knowing him.
I could smell his dad's pheromones calming down slightly. That's a good sign... I waited for Donovan to come back as I wrapped myself in his sheets. His scent was sort of....comforting to me. I realized I was shaking because of my stupid internal omega. I didn't want to be afraid...
I waited for another 20 minutes or so before I heard the doorknob turn. "Are you ready to come down now?" I felt Donovan stare at me with those blood red eyes. The tension in the air seemed to clear slightly, so I nodded and left my comfortable place on his bed.
The stair shaft seemed to be endless as my anxiety skyrocketed. I just wanted to get it over with so that I could leave with at least some of my dignity. Finally, we reached the bottom of the stairwell, hand in hand.
"Hello omega." A tall woman said. She was Donovan's mother. She was beautiful. I had to look up a little to see both of his parents faces. "H-hello." I stuttered.
"You are a werewolf, is that correct?" She asked rather calmly. "Yes ma'am." I practically whispered. "Do you care for my son?" She had a small smile plastered to her pale face. I immediately went red.
"I- uUmM...." how was I supposed to answer that?! "I've seen enough. You may stay here for as long as you like." The woman said with a chuckle. "R-really?" I had to make sure this wasn't some joke...
"Yes. Just don't let my husband give you a hard time, alright?" She smiled. I have a small smirk in return.
"Oh, and one more thing: if my son pressures you into anything or treats you badly, feel free to smack a little sense into him." She added as she looked up at her son with a motherly glare. Donovan couldn't help but laugh a little. I nodded again and looked up at the black-haired boy holding my hand.
"Now run along, you two. You're technically adults so we don't have any control over your actions. Just please....god please use protection." She added. My face went red and I immediately turned around and headed up the stairs. Donovan laughed and followed me.
I entered the room and stood there with my shoulders screwed up tightly. I was still tense from all of the anxiety I'd built up. Donovan closed the door behind me and walked up behind me.
I froze, waiting for something; anything to happen. But there he stood, still as a rock. He didn't do a thing. I shivered and shook away the thought as I whipped around with an annoyed expression.
"What? I didn't do anything." He pleaded jokingly as he raised his hands in defeat. "I know." I hissed. "Did you want me to do something?" He asked, a slight grin spreading on to his face. "N- maybe". I muttered.
His smile grew infinitely as he pressed a hand to my cheek, leaning closer to my face. Our lips soon met as the tall vampire pressed his body closer to mine. I kissed back with vigor. I wanted him... but at the same time I didn't. I don't understand what's happening to me.
I kept kissing, trying to push away the feeing of not wanting him....because I knew deep down I did. Three days was all it took to start the flame in my heart again. I'd fallen in love once before, but my heart was broken, as well as my pride. I pulled away suddenly with tears in my eyes.
"Hey, what's wrong?" The vampire asked, gently touching my lower back and my arm. "I-it's nothing. Just a bad memory. It's fine." I said. I went back to kiss him again, but he stopped me with his finger. "Tell me what's wrong." He looked deeply into my eyes. So deep- it made me shudder.
"I just... it's nothing! There's nothing wrong!" I declared. I tried again to shut him up with a kiss, but he wouldn't let me. "Not until you tell me why it looks like you're about to cry." He was firm, but in a gentle way. He was starting to release his alpha pheromones. No omega could resist them... not even me.
"I... I just had a bad memory. It's just a stupid fucking memory. It's fine." I huffed, crossing my arms. "What was it about?" He asked gently. The tears started streaming down my face. "Fuck." I muttered as the tears started to flow faster. I felt my face heat up out of embarrassment.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around me. "Please tell me. I want to help you." Donovan insisted. "I-if I tell you... will you promise not to get m-mad at me?" I whimpered. Damn I sounded really weak right now.
"Of course I won't. I can't be mad at you, we've only know each other for three days." He replied softly. "Th-that's the problem. I... I think I love you, but I'm scared. I'm scared that it's gonna end up like..." I stopped, almost too scared to say his name.
"Like Kaiden." I shuttered. "Who's Kaiden?" Donovan asked. "He's my ex. He... he tried to rape me when I was 15." I felt myself crying even harder now. I had lied in the past when I said I spent my previous heats alone. I just couldn't bear to think about that asshole...
Even Donovan was crying now. "Hey, it's ok. It's ok. I promise to you that I would never do that. I care about you, and I never want to see you hurt like this. I couldn't bring myself to that to anyone, ever." He tried comforting me.
I cried into his shoulder, breathing in his pine scent. He stroked my hair, and whispered in my ear that it would be ok. "I promise you, I would never do a thing like that. And when you want to talk about it more, we can. We can take this as slow as you like. I love you." He spoke a bit louder with his last statement.
I hugged him back, scooting into his lap. I didn't care how much I was humiliated, I just wanted to have someone big and snuggly to sleep on and then avoid in the morning. Not like I was able to avoid him anyways. It was his house after all.
I curled up in his lap and leaned against his chest. "Are you gonna fall asleep?" He asked quietly. I nodded slowly and closed my eyes to try and prevent any further tears from spilling onto the front of my t-shirt. From then on, he whispered sweet nothings in my ear, which made my heart swell.
I already knew I'd fallen for him, but the way he treated me felt like I was being lifted up. I never thought I'd fall for a vampire, but I guess they do say that nothing is impossible.
Plus- I'm starting to like the way vampires treat people better than werewolves do...
...
I felt a soft plushy feeling under me. Donovan must've put me in his bed. My eyes fluttered as I woke up to the darkness of the room. The curtains were thick, and didn't allow much light in. This morning, I didn't feel the vampires strong arms wrapped around me. In fact, I didn't feel him at all.
In the past few days, I'd felt a rather strong connection between us. I felt more secure and comfortable around him. More than I did around my own brother...
I sighed and turned over in bed. That confirmed that he wasn't in the room. I figured since I was awake, I would go ahead and actually get up. I didn't want to seem like some lazy bum.
I got out of bed and fixed my clothes. I was probably due for some clean ones and a shower... I staggered down the stairs, being cautious of where I was going. I couldn't find that softy lord...
I stood there awkwardly in the kitchen, thinking of where I should look next. Before I could begin my search again, Donovan's father walked in. Shit.
"U-um... hi." I muttered. The tall, dark haired vampire looked exactly like his son, or rather vice versa. He stopped right in front of me, looking down at me intently. "What is your name?" He asked.
"I- uh... Mike Miller." I stammered. "Age?" "18..." I replied quickly, as if I were going to be killed if I didn't. I wouldn't put it past him... "Have you ever done drugs, drank or smoked?" He asked. "N-no sir..." I answered. I mean, I've taken a swig of my brothers beer before, but it's not like I was addicted to it. Plus... I'm pretty sure Donovan was a drinker, but then again- maybe his parents didn't know.
He stated at me a little while longer before he started to speak again. "Do you have any malicious intent towards my son?" My eyes grew wide and my brows furrowed. "No! I don't know what you think I'm gonna do to your son, but I don't intend to do anything with him like that!" I raised my voice and puffed out my chest a little.
He looked as if he'd just witnessed something revolutionary. "That's the first time I've ever heard an omega speak out against me... or any alpha for that matter." He seemed baffled, as if omegas couldn't voice their opinion.
"Well whatever. I'll leave your house as soon as possible. Sorry to be a bother." I snapped. "No no, you're welcome here. I wanted to apologize for my earlier judgements. I realize that you are not like most werewolves." He smirked slightly with a fond expression.
"How so?" I asked, a little curious. I mean- I needed answers from this fucker. "You seem to be able to stand up for yourself, as I've seen, and you certainly carry yourself differently than most omegas that I've met. You must be a dominant omega." He explained. Dominant omega? What the hell was this guy on about?
"What?" I asked. "A dominant omega is possessive of their mate, and usually are less submissive. Then again, to each their own, but that is the most simple explanation I can give you." This guy certainly knows his stuff.
"Oh. I didn't know..." I muttered. "Yes. Donovan's mother and I work as the CEO's of a large company that deals with A/B/O services and relations. It's our duty to keep tabs on the world and the science behind it's people." The tall vampire explained. "O-oh."
I didn't realize it until now, but Donovan's family is probably well respected. I mean- come on. A family of CEOs and Lords?! If Donny is a lord, I wonder what his parents are...
"C-can I ask you a question?" "Sure." He replied quickly. "Donovan is a Lord right?" Donovan's father nodded. "Well then what does that make you?" I asked. "I am a Duke, and my wife is a Duchess." He laughed while he smiled, slightly bearing his white fangs. This guy must be bipolar or some shit...
"So...where's Donny- I mean Donovan?" I quickly corrected myself, getting slightly red in the cheeks. "He went for a fly with his mother. They should return soon." He stated as he began making a cup of coffee.
I nodded and went back upstairs to avoid further conversation until Donny came back. Yeah yeah- the nickname is dumb. Tell me something I don't know.
I hope he comes back soon.
