Chapter 12

Henry wasn't sure he heard Squall correctly. So he asked Squall again what he just said.

"Can you repeat what you just said again? I think you said Sorceress, but I wasn't sure."

"No. You heard correctly."

"How do you feel about that?

"What do you mean?" Henry stood there as Squall looked at him. He wasn't sure if he should tell them that the sorceress is someone that took care them. Maybe they know but don't want to bring up bad memories. So he just went along with it.

"So, what's the plan?"

"Well, this mission requires a sniper. So they are lending us their best sniper. His name is Irvine Kinneas. Could you keep your eyes on him? He seems to be a womanizer." Henry didn't want to be someone babysitter. But since Squall was starting to trust a little. He was the only one who can do the job. Henry wanted to get a look at him. Irvine looked like a good old southern boy, but more with a modern twist. He had long brown hair that was tied into a ponytail. He had blue eyes. He wore a long brown coat and sported a cowboy hat.

"Hey, so I hear your, the new guy in our group. My name is Henry." Henry put out his hand for a shake, but Irvine was too busy trying to get the ladies' attention. The Headmaster gather us around to let us know that we can not fail in our mission. Selphie wants to know more about the mission.

"The mission is supported by both or Garden and Galbadian's. We are to the capital of Galbadian. Then we will meet up with General Caraway. Since he will be our contact point." The team was shocked to hear that they will have to assassinate the sorceress. But it all apart of being a SeeD member. Do the jobs that no one else would do. They left Galbadian Garden to head to the capital. They finally reach the resident of Mr. Caraway. They enter his house and wait in the sitting room until he comes to introduce himself.

"Does he always make people wait like this?"

"I go check on. You guys, wait a moment. Oh, and by the way, this is my house. But don't go anywhere without." What she means by that, Squall wonder. Would something bad happen to her? He didn't understand. But a moment later, Mr. Caraway came into the room. And alone without Rinoa.

"Rinoa won't be joining you for this operation. She is not as refine as you guys are; plus, she needs some training. She will be a burden to you." Squall didn't really see her as a burden. Maybe a little naive when it came to things.

"Hey, are you Rinoa's father?" Sephie must have one and one together when Rinoa mention this was her house.

"If you asked her, she would probably say no, but yes, I am her father." Then Zell mention Riona is an anti-governmental faction, and the dad is a top military officer. Just the sound of those two spells trouble. But Mr. Caraway knew it was trouble, but the problems between him and Rinoa were their busy. But Squall thought to himself that the mission and Rinoa's order meant the same to them anyway.

"When we finish the mission, were still working for Rinoa as it says in our contract." Squall couldn't care any less. He didn't want Rinoa and her father's issues to interfere with the mission. Mr. Caraway didn't like Squall's tone of voice when he said that.

"So if I do, you're going to do what about it?" Squalls thinking what his problem.

"I'm going to do what I need to do it. Because she's my daughter, when you have kids, then you will understand.

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"It means just what it means." Squall didn't care. He wanted this to be a smooth operation without kinks. Irvine interrupted the conversation with the real reason they were there.

"Were here to take care of the sorceress. So why don't we get down to it?"

"Good Idea. Follow me." Squall and the others follow Mr. Caraway to the designation spot.

"One team will be on standby, and the sniper team will wait here at the entrance of the Presidental residence until everything is over." Then Mr. Caraway tells Squall to wait until the ceremony starts and the gate opens. That when the sniper team will walk in and get into position.

Meanwhile, Quistis thought she might have been a little too hard on Rinoa and wanted to apologize. But Sephie complained, telling Quistis they could leave their post.

"We will be fine. We had until the clock reaches twenty." So they ran back to Caraway's residence. He was already there trying to talk to Rinoa, but she didn't want to listen. She sent him away. Then she hears a beeping he was trying to lock her in. She got out before the door's lock, but Quistis and her team got lock went they walked in. Quistis realize that Rinoa was heading to where the sorceress was.

At that time, Squall and Irvine were waiting for the ceremony to start. That when they notice the sorceress coming out and following behind her was Rinoa. What was she doing there?

"Hey, Squall. Isn't that, that girl?" Squall looked carefully, and it was her.

"What is she doing up there?" They knew they need to get in there as soon as possible. The sorceress had started her speech. The gate was finally opening. Squall and Irvine ran inside quickly. They had to get up there and save Rinoa from those dragon size lizard monsters. They killed the monsters and saved Rinoa.

"Thank you so much. I was so scared."

"It's over. Let's go." Now it was time to get into position. This moment now was all counting on Irvine.

"Irvine, are you ready? This is all riding on you. You only have one shot." Squall was hoping Irvine will be able to make the shot. Irvine claims he never misses a shot, but this is different than just shooting targets. Squall looks at Irvine, and he seems to be acting strange. His breath was labor, and he was sweating profusely.

"Are you ok, Irvine?"

"I'm not sure I can do." Now Irvine decides to get nervous at the time he is needed. Squall had to think of something.

"How about this? Just take the shot. It doesn't matter if he makes it or not. I'll take care of the rest." It would be up to Squall to go up against the sorceress. He didn't know if he would make it out of alive, but it was his duty as a SeeD to carry out this mission.

Right at that moment, Quistis and her team finally make it back to the area with the control to close the gate. And when the clock showed twenty minutes left, they pulled the lever. The sorceress was now locked in between the gates. It would be a showdown between her and the SeeD's. Who would come out victorious?
