Property Investment 2

A week has passed since Stellar accepted Lotus's offer. Lotus struck a deal that all Stellar had to do was pay the utilities and keep the place tidy until she finds another place to move in. Now that was a deal that Stellar could say no to.

The madam added that it was obvious how Stellar was in desperate need of a place to stay and Lotus happened to have an available option for her.

Stellar, no matter how much her conscience told her not to sign on the dotted line, didn't want to turn down Lotus's offer.

That deal was at a discount price and she could save thousands of money, although it was awkward receiving help from practically a stranger.

So, at first, Stellar told Lotus that she wanted to inform Holden about his mom's offer because she didn't want him to feel as if she was using his family for her own gains, but Cooper was quick to swoop in and told her he'd be the one to tell Holden since Stellar would be busy packing up.

That night, Kimberly Rice sold a fifty million penthouse suite to Lotus Knight, and it earned her a three million commission.

At the end, no matter how much she earned that night, nothing compared to the honor of selling a piece of property to a woman whom people look up to such as Lotus Knight.

For days, her phone didn't stop ringing as people lined up to schedule a meeting with her. While doing her make-up in front of the vanity, the brush in her hand stopped stroking her cheeks.

Suddenly, she remembered the fortune teller in Hong Kong and made a mental note to drop by the establishment on her next visit to thank him.

Meanwhile, inside a minibus in Hong Kong, a certain fortune-teller sneezed three times and heads snapped in his direction, accusing him of contaminating the tight space.

Beside him was his wife, who elbowed him and gave him a stinky eye as she exclaimed, "Chisin! Someone's cursing you again, you fraud."

The fortune teller just scratched his head and wondered who among he swindled was cussing at the heavens with his name.

Saturday came in a blink of an eye. Light filtered through the wall of glass windows, casting beams on the boxes and pieces of luggage littered at the penthouse's grand area.

"Hey, that's heavy. Let me help you," Stellar rushed towards Cassy who was carrying a box as she climbed up the stairs.

Her sister hadn't confided to her about the pregnancy yet, but it didn't mean that Stellar would pretend as if she was not aware of it and let Cassy carry something heavy up the stairs.

So, Stellar gingerly plucked the box off of Cassy's arms. Shaking the medium-sized package, it made clanging noises.

Stellar mused that it could be the box containing trinkets that she accumulated throughout the years.

Smiling at Cassy, Stellar turned on her heel and up the stairs. Behind her, Cassy followed until they reached the master bedroom on the second floor.

It was the biggest among the five-bedroom's inside the penthouse suite at Gotham Tower.

Dropping the box on the bed, Stellar pivoted in her spot and watched as Cassy wandered inside the bedroom.

Stellar was lazily leaning her back against the doorframe, her arms crossed over her chest whilst her eyes followed her sister's trail and observed in amusement as Cassy slid and closed random drawers in the walk-in closet.

"Did you double-check the lease, Stel?" Cassy looked over her shoulders as she probed. Her brows met in the middle in worry.

This penthouse deal was too good to be true. She was wondering if there was a catch behind the bargain.

"Yep. It's all clean. Plus, the owner personally made the offer."

"Hmm," Cassy nodded her head. She was itching to ask who the owner was, but Stellar always expertly dodged the question.

Trying her luck one more time, she probed, "Who owns this penthouse again?"

"The name's in the lease," Stellar stated. She then pursed her lips, sealing it from ever saying that it belonged to Lotus Knight who is Holden's mom.

If Cassy finds out about it, Stellar couldn't vouch that it would not reach Aster's ears.

It's not that she didn't trust Cassy, but it would make her sleep better at night knowing that the information about the identity of the penthouse owner didn't come from her lips.

In addition to her worries, the last thing Stellar wanted was to see Aster knocking down the penthouse doors and dragging her back to the Cross Mansion after finding out that Stellar was mooching off from the Knight family.

It was obvious from her mother's reaction last time that she didn't want news about Stellar and the Knight Family floating around, especially since the person linked to her was a deacon and scheduled to be ordained in a few months' time.

"Stel… I just want to know you're safe," Cassy sighed. She walked over to Stellar and held her hand. "Ok, I won't interrogate you anymore. But at the first sign of danger, call me."

Stellar bobbed her head, thankful that Cassy dropped the matter

"Thank you, Cassy. And thanks for convincing Mom."

"She can't lock you up forever, princess." Cassy gingerly rubbed Stellar's arm.

A pang of guilt swirled in her belly when the voice of truth rang in her head.

Yes, she did help Stellar and persuaded Aster to allow the youngest Cross to find her own place.

But the fact that Cassy supported Stellar's plan just so Stellar wouldn't get in between her and Beau's engagement was clawing Cassy's conscience.

Throughout the day, the sisters unpacked and arranged Stellar's stuff, which wasn't that many.

Since the place came in furnished, the kitchen equipped with pots and pans, the dining cabinet filled with cutlery and plates, and the pantry was fully stocked, Stellar didn't bother to purchase anything and just brought her stuff over.

She found it odd that even the bathroom was filled with toiletries for a woman and man, but she guessed that all the Knight's wanted was to put their best foot forward, bearing in mind that Stellar was the sister of Holden's best friend.

On account that her belongings were limited to her wardrobe, bags, and shoes, throw in a few personal items as well like her dad's oldie but goodie camcorder, it didn't take for the sun to get swallowed by the horizon when they finished finding her belongings a new home.
