The sun lowered beneath the horizon, signaling the end of another day, but the cotton candy sky remained lit up by the bright buildings below. The night had just begun.
Maya sat at a table situated beside a window that looked out on a beautiful water fountain. In the middle of the table, there was a vase of fresh red roses and a warm flickering candle with a handwritten note: "We are pleased to be welcoming the new year with you."
Maya looked around the restaurant that she was seated inside and couldn't believe that she was spending her new year there…on a blind date...
She was in one of the most famous restaurants in the city and every table was occupied. However, the chair opposite her was empty.
The attractive young woman tucked her long curly hair behind her ear and wiggled uncomfortably in her chair. The short white bodycon dress that wrapped her slim figure tightly wasn't something that she normally wore. Glancing down at her cleavage, she tugged her dress upwards slightly and furrowed her brows.
[I can't believe that she normally wears this...]
"You must be Miss Yeung. I hope you don't mind that I brought some friends," a deep voice suddenly said while she still had her head down.
Maya took a deep breath and held back her anger when she heard the chair opposite her slide across the hardwood floor. This man was half an hour late!
Remaining composed, she lifted her head, stuck out her hand, and revealed a flirtatious smile; a smile that she had been practicing all afternoon. But…just as her eyes met the man opposite her, she froze and her blood began to boil. The man had brought two women with him and he had one arm wrapped around each one!
As there was just one chair opposite Maya, he sat down and lowered one woman on each lap.
[This guy is late, yet he has the audacity to bring two women to a blind date?!]
Maya glanced at the vase on the table and had a thought. If this was the usual Maya, she would have pulled out the roses from the vase and poured the water in the man's face.
[Rosewater can apparently improve one's complexion.]
But today…she was not herself…
Literally…
Keeping her hand outstretched, Maya replied in an unfazed manner, "Yes…Delilah Yeung…nice to meet you…"
Delilah Yeung?!
Yes, that was right…Maya was not attending that blind date as herself.
She was there on behalf of her twin sister, Delilah Yeung…and Delilah had made one very particular request: "Maya, I need you to attend this blind date on my behalf…and make sure Lucas Lee marries me no matter what."
