Not Going Anywhere

"Another twin?" Maya whispered with curiosity as she looked at the photo. It was impossible for twins of opposite genders to be identical, so she didn't realize the link between Noah and the woman in the photo at first. But now that Noah pointed out, she began to notice the resemblance.

Noah nodded his head. "Why do you think Delilah was selected to marry the almighty Lucas Lee? Alexander Lee is one of the richest and most influential people in Hong Kong; he would never lay an eye on the mere daughter of a nail salon owner. The only reason he chose her was because he's desperate to become a grandfather, and he wants as many grandchildren as possible. So, whenever he picks a potential daughter-in-law, he always favors twins over anything."

This was the reason why Noah knew Maya was Delilah's twin as soon as he saw her.

"I was training in Germany when I was notified about my sister. Lucas Lee had tormented Nova so much that it drove her crazy and she was admitted to the mental hospital. My sister had always been a bright and positive person before that, but she was completely ruined because of Lucas Lee's mind games!"

"I can't allow another woman to end up like her. If I was you, I would grab my sister and leave Vegas as soon as possible."

Maya furrowed her brows. "Is that really the reason why my sister was selected? Isn't it because she's truly in love with him?"

"Ha!" Noah laughed. "A superficial woman like Delilah Yeung is clearly after his money and status. How can she possibly be in love with someone that she's never met? Especially when no one in Hong Kong knows anything about him and he specifically created rumors about himself being extremely ugly. Lucas Lee saw through her intent the moment that she agreed to the blind date. That's why I'm not surprised if he decided to hurt her."

Maya frowned. If this was true, then Lucas did indeed have a reason to hurt Delilah. And, if he actually hurt Delilah, then she was not letting him off the hook. She was too protective of her sister to allow that.

"I'm not going anywhere," she suddenly said. "Take me to the hospital. I need to speak to my sister."

Noah glanced at the serious woman. He knew his own lies would be exposed if he took her to see Delilah, but he also knew it was the only way to truly convince her of his suspicions, so he drove the car out of the parking lot and headed for the hospital.

...

Delilah had just bid farewell to Tiffany and Sam when Maya arrived. As it was new year's day, the hospital had made a special exception for visitors to visit outside of normal visiting hours. "Why are you here so late at night? How did the blind date go? Is Lucas Lee marrying me?" Delilah asked excitedly, thinking that her sister couldn't wait to deliver her the good news.

But Maya walked up to her sister and furrowed her brows. "Be honest with me, Dels. Are you trying to marry Lucas Lee because you truly like him? Or because of his money and status? Do you even know anything about him?" she questioned.

Delilah's eyes darted guiltily, "Why are you suddenly asking me all these questions? Of course, I truly like him. I wouldn't fly all the way from Hong Kong if I didn't like him."

While she was trying to defend herself, Delilah noticed, from the corner of her eye, a head peering in through her room door and immediately recognized who it was. "Noah Thompson?!" she exclaimed, "What's he doing here?"

Looking at the man, she began to realize what may have happened. "Did he go to look for you? What nonsense did he tell you? That guy is paranoid and filled with conspiracy theories. You can't believe him."

Maya glared at her sister with anger boiling in her eyes, "So, he already told you what he knew and you still put me at risk of danger?"

Delilah immediately raised her hands innocently, "Come on, it sounded ridiculous. Lucas Lee may be ugly, but he's no killer... Are you discriminating against him because he's ugly?"

Maya narrowed her eyes and glanced at Noah. He was right. Delilah knew nothing about Lucas Lee apart from the rumors she had heard. She suddenly felt a little stupid for believing her sister.

Not saying another word, she stormed out of the room and said to Noah, "Take me to the crossing where my sister was hurt. I want you to explain everything that happened that day and every little detail that you saw."

As Maya and Noah walked away, Delilah stared at the door, dumbfounded. What just happened? Did this mean that her sister had failed? Was she not marrying Lucas Lee?

But...she was so close to getting into the upper-upper-class!

...

Over at the police station, the officer finally received the test report for the white powder that was found in Lucas' backpack. He flipped through the papers and raised an eyebrow in surprise. He then walked over to the holding cell and said, "Mr. Lee, you can make your phone call now."

Lucas glared at the man. What had taken him so long?

He walked over to the phone, picked it up, and dialed a number. A moment later, someone picked up, "Ryan, it's Lucas, I'm at the police station for trespassing. Come bail me out."

On the other end, an amused voice sighed, "Again? I'll be right there."
